  1. By now do you mean since start of season? I would assume that as he was part of redcar's team in the british number 7 slot he must have a British passport and he rode for GB under 21 in world cup. having said that nothing would surprise me this season however!
  2. The payment Peterborough received was in relation to carrying out an act which contravened the rules, hence a fine. If any one else is in receipt of any payment from Peterborough, then you have to ask what have they done to "earn" this payment - if it breaks rules then sanction(s) are applicable, if not then no action necessary!
  3. Got to laugh at a panthers fan questioning other teams use of rules and averages to make team changes - comedy gold!!
  4. If Glasgow want it - it will happen - money talks!!
  5. So what is happening on Sunday? Diamonds website says Workington, Workington website says Diamonds away, but Redcar website also says diamonds away !! Is it a double header? I can't believe redcar would report this fixture unless Newcastle had offered the date. Unfortunately news coming out of the Diamonds camp has gone AWOL over the last few days - even a comment along the lines of "Diamonds management are working hard to secure dates for outstanding Championship and Cup fixtures and we will advise fans as soon as these are known" would at least comfort us to know activity is taking place!
  6. The title of the thread should be "Will the Championship Knock Out Cup be completed by Christmas.... and does anyone care anymore ? "
  7. I think the cut off is 18th, however everyone probably assumed that the last matches to be played would be on the Sunday (as no Monday tracks) so it has commonly been said that last day for matches was Sunday 17th - and then we get a match on 18th!! this is my best guess at another very confusing scenario not taken from any official site etc.
  8. This is where Vatcher actually has a valid role to play - clubs should be offered two dates and if they decline both then Vatcher (or whoever) dictates when meeting will take place. It appears the problem is Saturday night, which suggests rider off plying trade outside of GB - well tough if clubs sign these riders take the grief of them being missing!!
  9. If that was a typo - sorry for pointing it out, if it was intentional - very very good good
  10. Unfortunately due to the nature of the sport, most tracks are situated in "grim" parts, this is to lessen impact on nearby residents. Industrial sites, or even out in the wilds come to mind, it can be a positive in that some of these tracks are then able to develop facilities more easily and have the use of the track on most days for training/practice or rearranging fixtures. Those tracks in "nice" areas are also prone to being targets for development (housing/supermarkets etc) Personally if I visit an area to attend a speedway meeting I'm concerned about what I see on the track, not the factories/pretty green fields/expensive or inexpensive houses surrounding the stadium! Lets be fair this all started with opposing fans trying to score points by throwing insults at each other, and their teams and now facilities/locations - sadly a number then can't resist the opportunity to bite and retaliate which drags the whole debate down and degenerates the thread! Full marks to those who post sensible responses without lowering themselves to the immature level, there are others who you expect better from . (rant over - thank you!)
  11. Absolute madness!! I still fancy Diamonds to win, but this has deprived the supporters (hello remember us we pay the bills!) of a rider who would have top races with Bears big boys and given us someone who will probably tootle around! Absolute madness!! (just felt I had to say it twice)
  12. Last night has proved to me that redcar's track team this year have got the 3rd/4th bends back to what they were designed to produce. barker/Andersen/wright/Schlein/Newman/King all used the banking to great effect and between them produced fantastic racing. Anyone wanting a second opinion ask ranting Roy, he was just about wetting himself at the racing that took place. One of the best meetings (for racing & action) I have seen in a long time!
  13. Glasgow have, at present, hit a real patch of inconsistency. they have a top quality side, but for some reason the big three (Worrall to a lesser extent) can not be relied upon - however as you say things can change and anything can happen, Glasgow just need to be firing on all cylinders and they could really win big - will they ?? We shall wait and see!
  14. I'm only going by the fact they both didn't ride last night, but might well have recovered by Wednesday (some riders do seem to recover quicker when next meeting is at home, or a track they like!!)
  15. I didn't have Starke in my initial thoughts, but I guess if this is a rearranged fixture after the Poole match was arranged then he will be at Poole. If you add in injury worries for BWD & Lambert, who are expected to have recovered, but relapses happen, then panthers would be down to Ostergaard and bacon - hopefully no Danish fixtures that evening to whisk Ulrich away! Given Rathbone's attitude towards the league we may have a chance - Shelby Rutherford at 1 for Peterborough?
  16. Could have another rebranding of the stadium - Joker Park Oh sorry forgot, Sunderland hold the rights to that name
  17. As mentioned earlier, the "one league" will be a watered down version, and you will have plenty of riders if you set the points limit lower, I see a limit of 37-38 with maybe a maximum total for bottom 3 riders of 9-10 This will forced many teams to have new riders at bottom end, will it dilute the product - yes in terms of standard, but not necessarily in terms of entertainment. I can also see a new race format again to have these riders against each other more often. This would reduce costs - hopefully, bring on younger GB talent - hopefully, reduce double up and rider availability issues - definitely! The top riders will be upset as it cuts their earning potential, but those who are good enough need to get teams elsewhere and become the top professionals they claim to be. Don't want to upset Diamonds (Scunthorpe/P'bro/Glasgow) fans but maybe we need to give up Sunday racedays, to allow riders to go to Poland and ride over there aswell!I Sadly Poland is dictating terms across the board and Swedish, Danish and GB leagues are all suffering. Primarily in GB it is the Premier league, but down in the Championship we are getting the backlash, and lets be honest the teams the Premier league are fielding are only just above championship standard!
  18. Amazing that Peterborough press releases come out so quick when there is nothing "dubious" happening, so we are all told quickly that BWD & lambert are not riding, However when Hansen had obviously been sacked and Harris signed, no pre match news till the day of the meeting, and likewise away at Newcastle, no advance news that Holder would be absent (even though the world and his dog knew it!) Moral of the story - if no Peterborough press release issued early about a meeting start looking for what Ged has planned/arranged, most likely Panthers fans will be unhappy!
  19. Compared to peterbro we did have strength in depth! I can understand English wanting to present a positive attitude, but he does come out with some statements that (imo) make him look a bit foolish and making excuses all the time. I note that the reason we didn't qualify from 4s semi was not due to Lambert being missing or Morris having a prang, but to track being watered and graded after heat 4 not heat 5
