  1. League predictions for 2025 season 1. Poole Pirates 2. Redcar Bears 3. Oxford Cheetahs 4. Workington Comets 5. Glasgow Tigers 6. Scunthorpe Scorpions 7. Berwick Bandits 8. Edinburgh Monarchs 9. Plymouth Gladiators
  2. Having seen the crowd and the way some of riders treated CLRC last year, probably right it is awarded to a lesser track
  3. Who is doing track this season at Redcar? Has it been announced and I've missed it?
  4. Big rumours going round about double change -not going to repeat names mentioned, but reckon Bears fans will be oKK with the news
  5. so after meeting tonight Anders Rowe thanked fans for their support, stressed it wasn't his decision, said there will be a press release tomorrow and added I have already signed for another team
  6. So do we reckon ourselves and Redcar can get an Eastbourne rider to fill the injury slots, or have their heads been turned by the money bags further north??
  7. Adam Ellis and Jack Parkinson-Blackburn - if averages fit Unlikely but if it were to happen become title favourites in my book
  8. Just have to correct the statement slightly We knew there were a host of teams looking to sign him, so we had to act fast offer a shed load of money to get him on board.
  9. So - given it time to collect my thoughts and not be accused of a having a knee jerk reaction - BUT still have the same view I had last night - the team is garbage, and worst of all not worthy to wear the black and white - very few look like they are interested, and I 'm sorry to say lack motivation and leadership from the top - team management last night and against Somerset was amateurish at best. Some fans may point to the fact that we are cup finalists - lets be realistic this was the most one-sided draw in the history of cup competitions, if we had faced ANY of the teams in the other half of the draw we would have lost - we are in the final due to the luck of the draw and home advantage . We'd better hope Redcar get to the final at least there will be some of their fans there - I can't see many diamonds fans stomaching the trash we watched last night - crowds will be well down from now on!!!!
  10. P$$s poor showing given all the hype and expectations only surpassed by Leicester's failures
  11. Well said - totally agree Best posting I've read in 2019 so far
  12. Well Done to all at Redcar - what a superb event, without doubt the best organised fours in recent years! Even with the difficulties caused by scorching sun and a drying wind the track produced it's usual top class racing - full marks to the track staff who were fighting the dust all day (and mostly winning). Note to other promotions - fans are happy to watch tractors going round when they know it is only going to enhance their enjoyment, both from a racing and comfort aspect, which is exactly what happened on Sunday, everyone could see the time taken was making necessary improvements and accepted it! No doubt the Scottish fans were delighted to get home at a reasonable time this year, highlighting the benefits of having the event more central (for the Championship) If Redcar want the event next year they have my vote!
  13. Some very nice Newcastle photos up on ebay for sale from 1960s, a few with Ivan Mauger, Brian Brett, Peter Kelly etc. Here is a link to one then look at sellers other items, there are three batchs https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223010469181?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649
  14. Reports from Redcar are that they were (virtually) told by BSPA that they had to increase their asset base - my reckoning gives them - Anderson, Busch and Branford (plus some others who are unlikely to be of value) I thought Peterborough had Ostergaard, Grondal & Phillips which would seem pretty similar, has anyone heard if they were given the same instruction? maybe you are getting a totally new rider to boost asset numbers?
  15. So - Ludvig highly likely to be in Newcastle team according to George. Seemed very strange that he wouldn't be. Also looking to try and get Scott Nicholls, if ruling is changed!
  16. " Agreed a fee " - both sides "set" the figure at a price they both were satisfied with. I guess as in all transactions one side would have preferred a lower fee, the other a higher!, but that is what negotiation and agreeing is all about .
  17. The Kus deal didn't go to arbitration Redcar & Newcastle agreed a deal - which may have been a reasonable price, but both sides obviously felt arbitration could have worked against them . this is quote at the time "....Promoter Alan Hedley is delighted to finally get the deal over the line following lengthy negotiations with the Teesside club. He said "I am over the moon to have got Kus to Newcastle, we have agreed a fee with Redcar which I am pleased about because neither club wanted to go down the arbitration route of doing business....."
  18. At least we have had some actual info on how averages have been set for newcomers - Thanks Edinburgh promotion for providing this. Just need to know now how some existing averages have been reached!!
  19. Can see us having a new dane/swede in the team on the reduced average introduced - to me it is the way to build a stromg team - get a couple in your team and you are only using 10.4 points . Any decent rider in Swedish/Danish league should easily meet the 5.2 average. In the past with a 7.00 assessed average it was a gamble and very few made it in first year (if at all).
  20. No! But as the Andersons not coming turned out to be a feeble attempt at humour it does give me more confidence in the rumour I heard. And for the poster on the Bears forum - I'm not a bs merchant or an attention seeker! I am passing on some speculation for team building but at the same time respecting what may be privileged information and not trying to spoil any announcements planned by the Redcar promotion!!
  21. Have to say the info from the JBA camp is interesting and does make me doubt about the riders I was given, but I'll stick with my statement for now and see who is announced tonight - for the Bears fans I do hope it is the one I'm expecting - will make for a good Christmas.
  22. I see Jonas Anderson's mechanic is stating he is not returning to redcar, but riding elsewhere and implying he may be on way to Newcastle along with his brother - not sure if this is good news, certainly in the short term as I see it as really weakening us especially at home. Guess we wait and see!
  23. The only way the rule should be changed is if all Championship clubs vote to amend it, if only one opposes it then it should not be changed, imo. My reasoning for this is that majority of clubs have built their teams based on rules which were agreed (whether the rule is good/bad is irrelevant) and if it is changed now it potentially puts some clubs at a disadvantage, as they may have had thoughts on who to use previously, but were not allowed - and puts others clubs at an advantage of giving them riders available who weren't previously. It is almost like deciding halfway through season to change points to 5 for a win away from home, but saying to the 4 clubs who have ridden more away matches, tough you've missed out!! As I said if all clubs are happy with this, then fine - but it shouldn't be a majority vote to win it needs to be unanimous.
  24. Ben Barker definitely and probably Kennett
  25. Don't see Proctor back with Bears, and TJ is not destined for a Championship team, so that leaves you with .....??? (edited to get the right number of ? in place!!)
