Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
LunnasPerm replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Of course he should. He has a British passport and he is the world champion. -
Glasgow V Peterborough Sunday 1-5-16
LunnasPerm replied to Stiltonpanther's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This is one of the two reasons I'm not at Ashfield every week; it often clashes with the football and I think the admission prices are scandalous. -
I'd get rid of the entire team, then start again.

Alarmingly Low Crowds

I disagree. Factually, yes, club's promotions can charge £1,500 for admission and £250 for a portion of chips, but I'm referring to the bigger picture; reality. Your comments regarding the 40% increase are put into perspective by the fact that, via the current costing structure, the necessary numbers aren't coming through the gates. It's adapt or die. A quick Google search shows that Halifax Town have a smaller average attendance than most clubs in their league, plus a number of clubs in the lower leagues of Scotland. A horrific example to support your point; it simply emphasises mine. -

* I'm not sure why there are two topics, can someone delete the other? I raised my point elsewhere in regards to the sport being somewhat boring in comparison to my memories, but that topic is simply a matter of opinion. What can't be denied, I believe, is that the cost of speedway is scandalous. This sport, in simple terms, must know it's role and know it's place. Speedway, as much as we wish it was, is as far from being a prime time sport as netball, badminton and GAA. Let me put it into perspective; I paid £17.50 to get into Ashfield for the first meeting of the season. The following Sunday, I paid £18 for my ticket at the Scottish Cup semi-final, the Old Firm game. £1 more to watch a globally renowned derby, viewed by more than only the Superbowl, at the national stadium. An incredible addition to this is that my friend managed to get his 16 year-old son a ticket at £7. At Ashfield, he would have paid £13.50. That's unbelievable. There are not enough people in this country, who class speedway as their first sport, to justify those prices. It's detrimental to attendances, I believe. Put it this way, if it cost £12.50 to get into Ashfield, I would go more often. There are arguments for reducing the cost to increase the volume of punters, similar to what the Bundesliga has done, but I think that goes beyond the issue at hand; speedway does not have a right to charge those prices and if promotors, management and directors are in the sport for the money that's to be made, then they've made a grave error and should dismiss their financial advisor(s) ASAP. -

Are you surprised? Three pages could be summed-up by this: valid issue raised, deluded fans can't see past their club. I mean, The Scotsman has just suggested I travel 50 miles and pay £17 to get in, then buy the DVD there. "Simples", he said. How on earth can you let that go? How? You can't. If you don't nip deluded and irrational nonsense in the bud, then it'll be repeated elsewhere. Look at the latest; the buck is being passed by Mr Blobby to Berwick who don't have one. It's Berwick's fault now! You couldn't make it up, honestly. As I said at the very beginning, my dad's birthday has passed and it was an extra, so it isn't a major issue, but it had to be raised. The Monarchs' fans reactions have kept this going. It's frightening to think that adults hold those points of views.
-
Are you okay? There are children in rural Africa who can create sentences which make more sense than this. If the resolution for ordering the DVD, my problem, isn't blatant to me, am I giving up? What?! I'm having to go back and delete choices of swear words because they're not appropriate for the forum, but I'm almost speechless with you, Mr Blobby and stewmac. My issue is a valid one. I am not at fault here, yet you three are quite literally regurgitating arse muck, again and again. You three should be ashamed by some of your responses. I'm unreasonable, said Mr Blobby. This was all a mission to have a go at Edinburgh, suggested stewmac. Drugs. You're all on drugs. A special mention to The Scotsman. Tried to correct me regarding Nokia last week and was corrected/shot down, so he's running around here liking the posts of the three mentioned above. Oh, let's not forget stewmac also liking his own posts. He's backing-up himself.

 You've got me. You're absolutely spot on. Busted. Two months ago, when my dad mentioned Mike Faria being the Scottish Monarchs' number one, it struck me. "This is an opportunity for me to get one over on the Monarchs' fans". Forget the fact that, during this discussion, I hadn't been to a speedway meeting for five years and not only was I not a member here, but I didn't even know the forum existed. This was my chance, to finally get one over on my arch nemesis, stewmac. I refuse to entertain the Mike Hunter question. It didn't even cross my mind to contact someone who I understand is a director of the club. I've never spoken to him, I don't know him and for you to suggest that failing to do so is in some way moronic, that simply emphasises your nonsense. In addition to an astonishing take on this, you're repeatedly recycling what I say; questioning my logic, suggesting that I'm an imbecile, etc.
-
No, no, no. Hang on. First of all, your logic is an absolute car crash, but I'm insisting that I respond because I think you believe what you're saying. I haven't been sat on the Monarchs' website, 24/7, refreshing the 'Shop' page. I've been checking it weekly, without desperation, because I thought the DVD would be a nice, little addition to his gifts. An added bonus, not a necessity. The page said "coming soon" and naturally, I expected it to "come soon". However, his birthday has come and gone with the page still saying "coming soon". For you to suggest that I'm unreasonable or doing something wrong here, that honestly bafflies me. FYI, the imbecile is undoutably the person liking his own posts; you.
-
I hope, for the sake of UK industries, that you are not in a position of responsibility within an organisation involved in consumer products. I wanted to spend my money on Edinburgh Monarchs' merchandise, but wasn't able to because their "coming soon" online store didn't actually "come soon". So, naturally as a customer, I vent a bit of understandable frustration on a forum, but I'm not reasonable?! You are frighteningly delusional. I'm amazed at this. Are you an adult? Is this genuinely your logic on this topic?
-
I've been typing this response for a few minutes and I'm struggling to find the words. If I want to express my opinion on the matter, I will. End of. If that's upsetting for you or you would rather I pretended it didn't happen, you can chase yourself. As I said in my first post, my dad's birthday has passed. Therefore I won't be e-mailing anyone at Edinbugh speedway.
-
I stated that I have nothing else to say, but I've just read this and there is absolutely no way it's being let go. E-mail who? Peter Carr? Kenny McKinna? Actually, having said that, I did try to buy a Real Madrid top online once and their website was down, so I contacted Florentino Pérez. Why didn't I think of that here? What a ridiculous suggestion. I'm not a regular at the speedway, so this close-knif community baffles me. Especially when being close-knit with someone who holds the same views on matters as you is a frightening prospect. I believe the word 'imbecile' is fitting. EDIT I just noticed that you liked your own post too. Jesus Christ.
-
Incredible. I'm at fault? I have nothing else to say.
-
That's an absolutely incredible view on my post. I'm almost speechless. Apart from the fact that it inconveniences me, the customer, it's ridiculous from a business perspective. The season starts, the 'Shop' is out-of-service. Absolute madness. Is speedway just filled with people burying their head in the sand these days? "No it's not, you are" when a problem is highlighted.
-
Your club's website is as well organised as your winter team building. My dad's birthday is approaching and he recently mentioned the Scottish Monarchs' season at Shawfield in 1996, so a couple of months ago, I thought I would get him a DVD of some sort from this era. Since before the season started, the 'Shop' section on Edinburgh Monarchs' website has said "The Monarchs Online Club Shop will return soon with some fantastic new items for 2016." It still says that today and it's almost May. I've been checking the website every week and nothing, so now it's too late. Hey, hoe. It's the Monarchs' loss of a few quid.

Is the Grand Prix on this weekend? Is it live on any channels in the UK?

What speedway needs is someone at the very top who will grab this situation by the scruff of the neck; a leader whose both inspirational and innovative. We have put men on the moon, I am under no illusions than we can introduce track protection in the form of coverings. It is not a difficult concept; protect a track's exposure to rain, snow, sleet, etc. I'm by no means a drainage expert, but off the top of my head, attach the inner part of the protective sheet to the rubbishe line and the outter to the top of the safety fence, creating an angle which encourages any water into the centre green; that's where the track staff shovel the excess mud to, anyway. I'm sure an industry expert could create something appropriate to be implimented. I know very little about Buster Chapman and I noted his efforts last night, but pushing wet mud around a track with a tractor in an attempt to combat the postponment is the equivalent of travelling on a horse in this day-and-age. If it rans during the meeting and it's called-off as a result, then fair enough. Meetings are very rarely abandoned, especially in comparison to postponements which, lets be honest, involve the powers that be standing watching their unprotected tracks being leathered with all sorts of weather, awaiting the uncontrollable force that is the weather to stop before they get their shovels, spades and tractors out. I was also suspicious of Poole's riders being unsuited, but King's Lynn's riders being suited; I don't think Hans Andersen's attempted justification on Twitter makes any sense, either. They had the home changing rooms? What? You had the away ones. Sky didn't even attempt to offer an alternative for the speedway viewer. Last week's rain-off was replaced by an Anthony Joshua documentary and I didn't even hang around for last night's replacement, but it wasn't speedway. Oh, well. Hey, hoe. The dying sport that is speedway will plod on with no changes. -
I only went to Cowley a couple of times when I happened to be working in the area, way back in the early 2000s, but it did produce some excellent racing. I think it was around 2001 when Leigh Adams, Brian Andersen, Todd Wiltshire and the Dryml brothers were there. That side was one of the first British teams to wear matching race suits, bright purple numbers, if I'm not mistaken. Cowley was a great stadium for speedway. The grand stand looked excellent, the dogs scoreboard added a bit of character, the go kart track in the middle was something different and even the little tunnel between the track and the pits was a novelty. It's a huge shame that there's no longer racing there.

Hey, hoe. -
Meeting off. Typical. Put a plastic sheet over the track and you won't have this problem. Jesus Christ, what a backwards sport we have. Even this; cut-off Nigel and Kelvin, save the viewers the regurgitated "they did all they could" and stick on a re-run of a half-decent meeting from years back. Very disappointed. I agree, the riders shouldn't have to risk their safety, but I don't believe it had to come to this.

So, I'm getting closer? Cheryl Cole.

Okay, Donald Trump?

I'm not going to be disappointed at 7:30PM when I sit down to watch the speedway, but I'm faced with Cricket's Top Ten Jumper Vests due to another postponement, am I?
