The simple answer? Because they are inept.

No apology needed Neil.

My allegation? This is the first thing I’ve said to you.

You appear to be in or have been in a position of knowledge. Yet, you’re the one requesting clarification and facts. You’ve offered nothing more. The severe lack of transparency amongst those who are/were involved in the operations of British Speedway continues.

British Speedway in it’s current capacity isn’t sustainable. I’m conscious, having read the comments in this topic, of a backlash by those who struggle to accept reality, so I should probably justify before even explaining why. British Speedway is operated by dinosaurs. Dinosaurs who’s capabilities don’t include creativity or entrepreneurship. The annual implementation of extreme new rules (ie. one GP rider per-team, fully-functional promotion and relegation structure, scratch that, promotion and relegation is on a first-come-first-served basis, regardless of where the club finishes, etc.) emphasises that. There is zero consistency. Furthermore, delegation is non-existent because those in-charge are, for want of a a better term, control freaks. British Speedway needs business experts; turn-around experts. They do not need a background in speedway. Skills are transferable. Virgin Media’s ex-Customer Service Director is now CEO of once-struggling, now-successful Power company. Good leaders hire wise men to tell them how to do things. Keith Chapman keeps his cards close to his chest, his clown shoes on his feet and is attempting to run British Speedway - on his own - into the ground. I hope and pray that new TV deal works; I really do, but let’s face reality. We have a new TV deal because the last one - with a market leader who excellently promoted British Speedway, including having an advert aired at half-time of the 2019 Champions League final - expired. If Sky and BT were Champions League, Eurosport is Europa League; a network notorious for its lack of punctuality and which doesn’t even boast its own production team. Speaking of production, British Speedway’s presence on social media is nothing short of a disgrace. In the month of October, British Speedway’s official Twitter feed hasn’t uploaded a single race in highlights. In the last week of Speedway - including the Championship Play-Off Final, the Championship KO Cup Final, Team GB versus Denmark, the National League KO Cup final and the Colin Hill Memorial at Plymouth - only a single minute of racing was uploaded by Glasgow’s social media team. How on Earth is that going to generate interest? How is that being allowed? The irony? Unlike Sky, BT Sport actually encouraged clubs to promote the sport via social media channels. There are no restrictions in place.

First of all, I would like to acknowledge the progress made by Dan Bewley. Make no mistake about it; he only physically finished ahead of Ayres once and that was such a shock, it cost the Tigers' man his next ride. However, I wasn't shy in expressing my concern that Bewley was not ready for Premier League speedway, so I won't deny the boy credit when he's due it; he was on the pace. Good on him. Regarding Ayres, that's what speedway needs. Another topic I've been vocal of in the past has been speedways inability to compete with other sports. It lacks a, for example, Conor McGregor character. A love-to-hate sort of personality and Ayres fits the bill. If anything, it's refreshing. It's a novelty and it gets the fans talking, whether it's positive or negative. As Fisher said after the meeting, "if they're not booing you, you're doing something wrong". The racing was decent, but quite often I found that those able to maintain an outside line whilst ahead were very rarely in trouble. The atmosphere, on the other hand, was electric. Bring Edinburgh, Somerset, Poole, Belle Vue, Man United, anyone and regardless, that home crowd will raise the roof. In terms of modernising speedway, Glasgow are close as speedway gets to perfect. I recorded the meeting and watched it again this morning; a special mention must go to Stewart Dickson's team talk with five heats to go and two points in it. That's what Sky Sports is all about. It's far, far from it, but that was as close as speedway is going to get to Aguero's last minute winner against QPR. An inspirational rally cry followed by a second-to-none response which blew the Monarchs out of the water. Can Glasgow win the league? Possibly, but that's a poor Monarchs side which should have been blown away. We'll see...

I believe you...

"I wasn't talking about you", that old chestnut...

How on earth you've came to that conclusion from my post is absolutely beyond me.

Print those messages and stick them on the wall in his area of the pits. There you go, Max. There's your motivation. Go out there and prove them wrong. What good is that article going to do? If I'm Max Clegg and I wake-up this morning, check my Twitter and see that my boss has told the media words to the effect of "he's struggling and told me that a bad man is annoying him on Facebook, so I've gave him a cuddle", I'm not going to be motivated. That's going to do the opposite. Also, I think Edinburgh's decision to drop Dan Bewley for tonight's meeting is questionable. Yes, he'll score well in the National League, but riders don't improve by competing against less-able opposition. The occassion, the atmosphere and the competitiveness of tonight's Scottish derby, a home meeting for Dan, will have been fantastic exposure for the young man. I've been a critic of Edinburgh's handling of their number seven race jacket and subsequent recruitment of Dan, but they've went with him, so they should stick with him. That's my opinion, anyway. Please, I'm begging Edinburgh fans not to get on their high horse about this. Mr Blobby, stewmac and The Scotsman in particular. Let's have an unoffended discussion, if we must.

I don't care who the photo is of, neither do I care which year it happend. The point still remains, said point which, in your last line, you agree with. What a total waste of time this discussion has been. -

Yes, the mobile phone world, hence the references to Apple and Google. Regarding Nokia's CEO breaking down, here's an article on the subject; https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/nokia-ceo-ended-his-speech-saying-we-didnt-do-anything-ziyad-jawabra Apology accepted. -

Sorry, pal, but you're getting your nickers in a twist over nothing. Or, maybe you're just jumping to the defence of an e-friend, considering that discussion has been dragged-up from over a week ago. Ten years ago, Nokia were a market leader in mobile phone manufacturing. Now, they're not. That's because, in their own words, they "failed to foresee rapid changes in the mobile phone industry". By extinction, I was referring to that industry. I'm sure they're successful elsewhere and in other arms of the business, but in mobile phone terms, they're a lost cause. What a waste of my time, having to explain that. -

Do speedway clubs reveal attendances? It would be an interesting read. I remember reading that Plymouth were going under because they had 400 turning-up every week.
