  1. From a Scorpions prespective: Ryan Douglas - starting as our number 1, shown all the potential in the past 4 years hes been with us and this year could be his year, I can see him pushing towards an 8 - 8.5 average Fritz Wallner - shown potential at the end of last season, hopefully not another Zdenek Holub.... Definenetly an entertainer though. I'd say if he can achieve a 4.5 average, it would have been a successful season for the lad. Lewis Kerr - On a bargain average! I can easily see him being a 6-8 pointer towards the end of the season. Great to see him enjoying his racing again. Potential number 1 Michael 'Palm Tree' Toft - Again, much like Lewis, could be a number 1 on a 8 point average. Josh Auty - 'Mr Entertainer' didn't have a great 2016, expecting him to stay at heat leader. Carlos Wilkinson - 'Mr Dependable' should be aiming to be in the top 5 come the end of the season Josh Bailey - Last season ended on the injured list. Shown a lot of potential during the season to persuade Rob to keep him, and a great guy, Im sure he can come on leaps and bounds this season. All in all, all I would like to see is an entertaining season, hopefully we wont lose too many at home. Potential dark horses for the play offs
  2. Heard via Facebook Alex is coming back in 3 months so who knows if he has a team elsewhere in the league or would be our back up rider
  3. Just a thought for next season to start the season - A retro style meeting (Like what Scunny v Sheffield at the end of 2013(?)) 13 heats + 2nd half - for the Kenny Smith memorial? Whats everyone think
  4. What we need at Scunny in 2017 - A decent number 1 - no disrespect to Josh but he aint a number 1, a 9 pointer maybe? - A decent sound system, so us fans can hear better - Better music, sorry Barry but yer musics coming stale now.. - Challenge meetings at the start of the season - maybe against a team such as Leicester? - Meetings to fill in blank weekends (Championship of Lincolnshire individual as an idea)
  5. I wouldn't dream of walking away from Speedway. I appreciate this is under an EL thread and Im from Scunthorpe in the PL, but to me speedway is speedway. Having travelled up and down the country watching all levels of league speedway - you have some good meetings and bad meetings. The rules do put me off speedway a little bit BUT when Im at a meeting, and what I say to any possible newbies is forget about the politics and enjoy the entertainment. The end of the day promoters/managers deal with the politics - the supporters are there for the entertainment. So all I would say is attend your home meetings and ENJOY YOUR ENTERTAINMENT of Speedway while you still have it
  6. Having been to Sheffield twice in one week (went to the PLRC last Sunday) I can honestly say I think them two meetings are the worst I've seen this season. I do not know how Sheff fans can keep watching FTG racing week in week out. Well done Sheffield on your win on Wednesday
  7. As the season finale fastly approaches winter is just around the corner, time for team predictions and everyones thoughts. The 2016 season for Scunny has been up and down, with results not going our way, and with the team just clicking at the end of the season. For me I feel privaliged just to be able to say that I can go to the EWR week in week out and witness some fantastic speedway racing. For me I'd have 5/6 of the current team. 1. Thomas Jorgensen 2. Fritz Wallner (depending on average) 3. Lewi Kerr 4. Josh Auty 5. Ryan Douglas 6. MPT (depending on average) 7. Josh Bailey OR Jack Smith, who both have impressed whilst racing for the Scorpions in 2016. Your thoughts folks
  8. Naturally being a Scunny fan i'd love to see Josh (Auty) make the semis at least... But can see the top 6 being Stead, Garrity, Holder, Grajczonek, with Wells and Bellego being surprise packages
  9. RYE HOUSE: Kennett Lykke Heeps Lanham Robson Branford Morely SCORPIONS Auty MPT Kerr Wallner Douglas Wilko Smith
  10. Looking forward to this one. Should be a win for the Scorpions. Mr Godfrey, as we didn't have them BH Monday could we have donuts on Sunday please
  11. For anyone travelling to this meeting, the Friends of Scunthorpe Speedway page will be posting up to date weather updates today and for the rest of the 2016 meetings https://www.facebook.com/ScunnyScorpionsSpeedwayOfficial/?ref=aymt_homepage_panel#
  12. Have to say Scunny coming off the back of a fighting performance at Somerset, yes we lost 52-41, but theres not many teams that will score 40+ at the OTA. Hopefully the Scorpins will have a fully fit Mr Entertainment - Josh Auty and a fully fit 'ard man from Yorkshire - Wilko. As Josh and Carl can both peform well at FH. The Kerrminator hopefully will continue his fantastic form, along with MPT. Ryan can peform well and if Joshy Bailey can continue doing his job and Fritz 'the Blitz' can score 2-3 points then Scunny could be getting a result. Im sticking with my gut instinct and saying Ippo to win but Scunny to get a point
  13. Brilliant meeting. Couldn't fault any rider, Fritz the Blitz impressed me and many of the Scorpions locals. If Josh and Ryan has been on form, who knows what the result would have been. Well done to Somerset on their what 13th (?) league win on the bounce, which team will stop these pesky Rebels?
  14. Its another big one at the Eddie Wright Raceway this coming Sunday! Scunthorpe v Somerset, both teams have history together, the 2012 PL Playoff Final being one that will live in the memory for both teams, just the happier memories for the Scorpion fans. PLUS a rivalry will be renewed with Josh Auty and Rohan Tungate going head to head for the first time at Scunthorpe since last years incident. It promises to be a cracker SCORPIONS Josh Auty R/R (Alex Davies) Lewis Kerr Michael Palm Toft Ryan Douglas Carl Wilkinson Josh Bailey REBELS Josh Grajczonek Jake Allen Charles Wright Paul Starke Rohan Tungate Bradley Wilson Dean Zach Wajja-call-him (or guest)
  15. Can only really see a typical scunny performance here... 55-37 edinburgh
  16. Will be a toughie for the Scorpions, but if we can beat Glasgow, we can beat Edinburgh, will be there as always, loud and proud of the lads. COME ON SCUNNY
  17. Surely now that Lindgren has been cleared to race tonight and with a guest in for Rose, Im sure the rules state it has to be R/R as Lambert is injured. If he was racing tonight for KL then I could understand but as hes not, surely thats not allowed? Hoping scunny have a good one tonight and we can get through to the next round!
  18. Far as I know - Ryan moves to #1 for the Scorpions, MPT drops to reserve and Carlos moves up. Not too sure how the Witches will line up. With the pressure off Josh to perform in heat 1, and personally I believe Ryan can handle the pressure of being number 1 and I thoroughly believe he can smash heat 1 on Sunday, hes not up against much, just that British Champion. Hope this years league clash is as interesting as last years, just with no riders getting hurt and with the Scoreline the right way round this time! Prediction - 47:43 Scorpions win
  19. Scunny already have a scheduled home meeting the day after the Cardiff GP
  20. About 5 miles from the track at moment, its overcast but rather warm, hope the rain comes later than expected so we can get this meeting through.. Its warm here too 20 degrees
  21. Scorpions J Auty L Kerr M P Toft A Davies R Douglas C Wilkinson J Bailey Rockets TBC P Karger or RR C Heeps L Lanham S Robson K Lykke B Morely (Team lineups from each clubs respective last meetings, Scunthorpe at Workington and RH at Sheffield which got called off) TBC is because Sam Masters was due to guest for RH at Sheffield on thursday night
