Yes, Very well done.
-
Objection at Rye lodged
-
He was going to the top . Never the same after that very nasty crash with Dave Kennett at Hackney
-
Doesn't appear to be any updates on tonight and Peterborough ??
-
If they recreate the track then racing would be great, has potential to be improved.
-
If Wembley off limits due to cost , how about West Ham ?
-
Get a grip it was 40 years ago . The declining numbers at Cardiff prove what it has become - a bore fest.
-
Was talking about WTC and Ove Fundin not the World Finals there. Appreciate all very expensive but sure if poll was done many fans would want it back at Wembley if it was at all possible.
-
Maybe but lets hope the new organisers at least consider . Cardiff is going down . Don't know how you can says fans from Europe would go , why not ? Warsaw and Wroclaw apart hardly going to the others are they ?? Do you think they would go to Voyens or Germany instead or some of the others ?? Most SGP stadiums very basic.! If you don't think Cardiff has lost its appeal why are crowds dropping there ? It has I am afraid become a bore - fest !!
-
Well it was along time ago, they made enough noise ; )
-
Wembley isn't the capital of England buts its in the English capital. It has no rival in Speedway's history.
-
London Population dwafts Cardiff as does England's over Wales . Not even a club or indeed a Speedway following in Wales i suspect these days.
-
Well Cardiff is losing fans year on year and its appeal i am afraid with processional racing . Agree Wembley is expensive and doesn't have roof , maybe track covers ? Totally disagree on crowd numbers Phil. If 40k go to Cardiff a meeting beyond original appeal then 55k would go to Wembley. Many fans from Poland and Europe for start.
-
I watched Ove Fundin as a kid in the 1970 WTC . He had "walked" on Wembley's club which come back to league racing that year. He was BOO'ED out of the stadium by a capacity crowd . The more they booed the faster he went ! Only beaten by Briggo if my memory serves me right in four rides ?
-
If 40k - 45K fans will go to Cardiff then 55k plus will go to Wembley, the capital of England and a Speedway Mecca that dwafts all others in Speedway history. The fans will come from home and abroad. If you have never seen a meeting there then maybe some here wouldn't appreciate it. Needs to be moved now in my view away from Cardiff which has become stale and doesn't produce decent racing . Agree SGP not likely either way in UK this year but sure it will be back in UK next year. Hope new organisers bring new and higher horizons for the sport at this level. Wembley for British SGP would be massive ! Crikey it would be the talk of World Speedway !!
-
There would be at 55k + at Wembley - from all around the World, without a doubt. Have been to Warsaw, WOW, Cardiff is not a spot on that. The atmosphere at Wembley would just be incredible. West Ham's stadium another maybe possible if not Wembley ? I religously went to Cardiff every year bar one due to death of my mother in 2009 from 2001 to 2016. We have stopped going now was getting same old and the racing pretty poor and Cardiff hotel prices plus other a complete rip off, put up specially for the event ! Put Cardiff's racing up against Wroclaw and others and it doesn't even come anywhere near. Up to pandemic I watched the GP's abroad now. Cardiff is completely over hyped and over rated in my view.
-
The new SGP organisation take over next year. Would they be bold enough to try and return to the Mecca of Speedway . I think if 40 - 45k can come to Cardiff then Wembley could attract 55k - 60k, maybe more . I don't think there would be a fan in the country who wouldn't want to be there and would have huge appeal throughout the World of Speedway !!
-
Ditto , Very well done to all at the Star
-
Received mine ok today - Essex
-
Absolutely , and Phil was happy to answer.
-
PS Will the Star start a campaign to get recognition and a gong for Leaping Len Silver ?? He is way overdue and can't be a more deserving person in British Speedway

Been buying SS since 1970 as a school boy and have all the copies. I am enjoying the edition even more at the moment and all those throwbacks and to the riders involved and catching up with them. Terrific tribute / obitary to Hackney Hero Zuper Zenon last week by them.
-
Mauger wasn't that popular with fans at Zenon's English club Hackney. Mauger mentioned that years later along with Wimbledon if I remember rightly . He was allocated to Hackney by British Speedways rider control I believe in the late 60s and refused to go there.
-
Would be great to see them back but such a large stadium and likely few fans will be hard to generate much atmosphere.
