So that means you need to trap or you've little or no chance of passing? Really find it hard to believe, this team struggle on a slick track, look at the places the top 4 have ridden or currently ride, Ayers is used to slick tracks from N.L. so that only leaves, Luna, ex Scuny and Garcia, who hasn't looked too comfy on the gripy stuff. This team were trapping last Sunday, so what's the problem, they were obviously beaten by a better team. Not the track preparation. By the way it looks like spuds preferred engine has gone missing in transit. -

Looks like 1 point from 3 rides, but that was at Plymouth, not against Glasgow. Spud only scored 2 from 4 last night. So your point is? -

That's a pity with Ellis Perks his opposite number he would likely have managed to score his average. -

Shame that, how many point did his replacement/s score?? Think it was just too soon for him to return to the "scene of the crime". Was just joking you know, always seems to be riders teams release that have a point to prove. -

Would be unusual if it was. -
Nah,the Monarchs will be well into things by then and will be well up for it, once Clegg and Bewley transfer their NL form to the premier, this could give Glasgow one of their toughest tests at home. Think it will be a cracker, especially if the monarchs fans turn up in large numbers to create a good atmosphere.

Funny thing, remember a few seasons ago Glasgow weren't allowed to run on a Sunday, because there was a 4 team tournament thing on at the show ground. Anyway isn't it just easier to blame the bspa for everything Would it not have been more prudent of the panthers promotion to just not arrange a fixture in the first place rather than work with tight timings? Don't believe for a second this booking from mcn was taken at short notice. Why is it always someone else's fault, can't you're own promoter ever be to blame?? -

Sorry, forgot, the Danish championship rounds will affect panthers and rye more than the meeting at Glasgow on Sunday. My point was really about this continual bad mouthing of your landlords, where would British speedway be without the showground, let alone the panthers. -

Is it not possible the fixture next Sunday has been called off for the same reason as the Newcastle versus Somerset meeting was called off........... I know it's many miles away, but there is a semi final of the British championship taking place the same day. Probably better to check the facts, it may be down to the bspa, not your landlords. -

Oh I see, so he hasn't been released. So perhaps you know why his manager started all this nonsense?????? -

IF Porsing has been released, why are Peterborough being given a facility for him? Then again I suppose if they hadn't it would have not been in the best interests of British speedway. -

Great confidence boost at home, against two teams that did not want to mix it on track. But let's not forget that on Friday night they narrowly lost at Armadale, to a team with a longer tail than the tigers. Not knocking Glasgow, but these home scores were a combination of very poor visitors and imo an improving home team, hope that improvement transfers to away form later this week. -

As long as they fall within the school holiday period Tuesdays shouldn't be too big a problem, and with the anticipated general increase in crowd figures expected from signing Cook, things should work out fine. All that is required now is for the bspa to approve the declared change of race night and other premier league visitors to agree to this Tuesday night fixture, taking into account rider availability. Best of luck with that one Before someone starts about me being negative, I'm sorry if it comes across that way but this will be looked at from all angles not just what's best for Peterborough. It should be in the best interests of British Speedway!!!! -

So if that was the case he would have a plan b....... These poor riders seem to being used as pawns in this debacle. Cook has been given false hope of gaining a team place with panthers, clearly the bspa will be looking at the bigger picture. IF he gets more meetings and his form picks up, then his polish team are going to come calling, then how many fixtures will he miss on Sundays? This of course would suit panthers as virtually any rider in the league would be able to guest for him. Really hope Cookie does get fixed up, just don't think it will be with the panthers -

Irrespective of what Ged said, it was his timing that appears to be the problem, while I realise it's important to be up front and keep employees informed, so as not to find out though third parties, if you have already been told your PROPOSED changes would not be approved, it seems very irresponsible and unprofessional conduct by the promoter. -

School boy error to sack riders and make announcements before bspa approval?? Or was it intentionally done to bully the bspa to bend the rule, as this now surely leaves the panthers with two riders who know are expendable, or looking else where for replacements ( who would also require bspa approval). Oh dear oh dear, what a situation to be in, but I suppose that's the way it goes if you adopt bullish attitude -
Didn't mean to sound condescending regarding other clubs not owning their own stadiums, was only really referring to Glasgow at this point, although it is necessary for all clubs to encourage kids, Berwick being a fine example and a club that currently I would say are struggling with crowd levels. Didn't mean to sound ungrateful either regarding the Glasgow owners, and I car understand your quality remark but perhaps a longer "introductory period" was required, that said they really did push the boat out last year on promotion and advertising. Unfortunately speedway seems to be a love or hate sport, lots of those who attend for the first time may not return, not because they had a bad experience, but just because it's not for them, you may have to kiss lots of frogs before you find a prince
-
That's why supermarket have loss leaders(to get you in) and sweets at kids eye level and tills (so the kids make you spend more) Same as speedway, get as many families as you can in, hence the pricing, then the kids want jungle balls, sweets, burgers, juice. And already you've made more money and getting the next generation hooked.
-
Just wrote a massive rant that got lost Extent child pricing to 18 Discounts for unemployed maybe Anyone who attended on some sort of promotion last year won't be expecting the price jump if they attend now, It has already been pointed out how fairly priced family ticked are. But by and large I don't have an issue with current one, my issue is, if you want to fill the stadium people need to be able to see what they have paid for not another spectators back.
-
Valid point, I should think no matter where you are in the country, people will always find a preferred way to use what disposable income they have on what suits them, it's a matter of choice, and it's nice to have speedway as one of those choices. Still believe there are a larger number of highly paid jobs down south (and corresponding pensions)all be it in certain areas, anyway my point was really about the immediate local area. There was much talk of getting the local teenagers who fly around on motorbikes out side the stadium interested in becoming the next world champion, but I fail to see this happening if they can't afford to see what's going on inside the stadium. I'm not saying let them in free, and I know a lot has been done to promote the sport with discounted or free tickets, but it's got to be affordable for them to return, regularly. Infact if you really look at virtualy every area there is speedway their are very few in prosperous areas.
-
Don't think a particular meeting thread is the place to debate the price or spectator facilities. Think tyretrax is spot on with his point about spectator facilities, and on the whole these are excellent, but the primary reason for attending is to spectate and view the racing. It's not so much the second tier on the back straight not being high enough, it's more the front of the front their needing to be lower, as viewing from the pits would then be affected. As for the cost, it's all very well our friends from down south saying its not expensive, think the need to remember everything is relative, i.e.wage rates and house prices from area to area. When this take over took place much was made about them being local lads and wanting to put something back into the local community. Given the economics of the area I don't think many of the locals are being catered for.(no disrespect intended)

Glasgow V Peterborough Sunday 1-5-16
speed ace replied to Stiltonpanther's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
They will come if the product is right, yesterday the racing was good, they ran a slick show, the kids stuff was made to fit as circumstances dictated. The stadium facilities are great, but viewing from the back straight is prohibited, why would a newcomer return if the paid to see other peoples backs instead of 4 guys on bikes hurtling past less than 30 feet from them? -

It's actually a 12.5% increase, from £15 last year to £17.50 this year. I think the mistake made was reducing the cost from £16 from the previous season. Personally I'm quite happy that there isn't a bigger crowd as viewing is pretty poor with the current crowd levels. -
