  1. Ah, I see tactical speedway. Suppose more dates will be available once Edinburgh are out of play offs, as long as the tactics work. Was actually referring to the potential teams that Glasgow have still to race in various competitions, fixture clashes, and potential postponements.
  2. Can't understand the early call off, weather forecast is dry till 4pm, available dates for rearrangements are going to run out quickly.
  3. How ironic that would be, pity it would be a week too late to make any difference.
  4. Hope it's an entertaining match, and score isn't too one sided, so that Workington get a decent crowd for the second leg. That said I can see Glasgow winning 54-36.
  5. Got to agree, absolutely no ones business, supporters should just enjoy speedway for as long as it exists. So why would they bring up the subject when unprovoked? Only they'll know I suppose.
  6. Not exactly answering the question, forget Edinburgh, they just run at a level they can't afford, do you actually know who has a higher wage bill than Glasgow? Oh yeah and as for open and honest, whatever happened to that full statement about the departure of a rider last season?
  7. Oops, beg your pardon (all the more reason to wait till you have a your own 6/7 riders), the point that I was trying to make was out of the two peterborough should be the ones keen to get more meetings before the cut off date to ensure a place in the play offs after their desperate team reconstruction, but instead seem quite happy to sit back and hope other clubs results go the way that suits them.(which looks like happening now).
  8. Somerset didn't have a problem accepting the booking with four guests, so why would it be a problem for peterborough, fact is they could pick guests more suited to the dale, given the fact peterborough need a result, Somerset only racing for pride. Was unaware of the fact Edinburgh could only race once a week, which is a pity. Thought I read somewhere last weekend only Glasgow of the 3 were considering accepting an offer to race.
  9. My thoughts exactly, even run a double header with an early start, 6pm? So that you can run two full meetings before the curfew.
  10. Anyone know who the referee was for this match? Seem incredible that (according to updates) that the tapes were destroyed on numerous occasions and no-one was disqualified, and no mention of a malfunction!!!
  11. Why on earth would Monarchs want to use Davey, the meeting is at Armadale, not Scunthorpe, the trick is you pick guests for their strengths at each track (not saying he doesn't know his way round the Dale). Anyway I believe Davey is also out at the moment with a non speedway related injury....Do keep up!
  12. Think both Edinburgh and Glasgow would have hoped Newcastle could dispose of Somerset in the semi final, now there's a fair chance only one of them will benefit if Newcastle get Somerset in the semi, and I can't see Gary May picking a tie with Newcastle given a choice.
  13. Sorry I know this is deviating from actual subject, but always hoping some one from the bspa with some savy (maybe a contradiction there) reads these and understand what the fans want and what would benefit the sport as a whole, not just their own little empire. If rumours of what riders were paid for the fours are true, think this may be short lived or else there may be a rider shortage next year. Much preferred the old system of local qualifiers and the final as a full meeting.
  14. Agree, how ever you need to hold it at a central location so that it does not impact on attendance and some where there are good spectator facilities, as well as being a decent race track. With all due respect, don't think holding these events at venues like Glasgow, Plymouth, or Ipswich would do them justice and get a big traveling support, the only reason the crowd for the pairs is so good is because many supporters tie it in with the GP. Take the point also about neutral venues, unfortunately with all the doubling up these days this would be virtually impossible! Hard to see past King or Garrity, if fit.
  15. Not keen on play offs due to teams making changes to win, not what it's about, think promoters and fans should be more loyal to their chosen 1-7 from day one, however I accept they're here to stay. A lot of talk on here previously, about play offs being created in various sports to bring the season to a climax to suit the media and TV coverage. Also does make the season last longer for the top six teams and on a good year keeps it interesting for say the teams placed from say 4th to 8th for the last third of the season. Think the icing on the cake would be for Sky to take an interest and cover the semi finals and Final the same as they do with the elite league. Why not give the team that finishes top of the league an extra point to play with on there starting average for the following season, and a play off winners cash prize of say, an equal amount being put in a pot at the start of the season by each teams promotion (say £500 per team).
  16. Totally agree well done to them indeed, they've stuck with the same 7 that they started with and been consistent all year, Zack being injured, does potentially strengthen them as he has not been the most improved #7 in the league, but they've not exactly picked guests to replace him who have scored big points either. Some teams have been accused of trying to "buy the league" by the money they have, but what about teams buying the league by changing 6 of their original 7 to get some glory, just shows the difference in how some team managers have a better eye for judging potential than others. Well done to the rebels and Gary May for picking a team he believed all had the potential to improve.
  17. Think this has the potential to be as close a scoreline as the match against Somerset, but would think Glasgow will have the score in their favour. Should be interesting to see how berge does, on a track he knows, given his decent run of form of late. Wonder if Bates can stay on the bike yet and ride Ashfield well. Garrity is always good for a few thrills, and if Steady rides like the way everyone knows he can this should be a decent afternoons entertainment.
  18. He's always been able to ride the bike. But since he's been attending the Steve Lawson gating school he's now a bit of a threat. Once he's been to the Craig Cook school of how to race, he's gonna be the real deal. Any chance your able to name these alleged gentlemen?
  19. Looks like it could be win win for Glasgow as Danny Ayers will also have to go to Belle Vue.....if everyone is playing by the rules. Has anyone asked for Rob Godfrey's take on this yet?
  20. ....of the koc, so this is a rearranged fixture, I would imagine (unless Belle Vue is also rearranged,(this could get messy)) then the bspa will order them to release him as they did for the rearranged meeting at scunthorpe..
  21. Well, fella, notice your not defending the fact that Tungate Knows how to get away with getting flyers, and after watching Worral last season, I suppose you'll be able to identify who's best at it. Sorry if you got the impression I'm a Glasgow supporter. Was only stating what I observed, and on from that I totally agree that Somerset were deserved winners yesterday, and should be crowned league Champions if they top the league. But come the play offs, I'm not so sure there gona win, then again suppose you could always try and get Pontus back, but he really will need to learn to count.
  22. It's the guys on track on the day that score the points not the ones that are missing. So if you're looking at ifs and buts.... what about Worral only being able to jump one start, but Tungate got away with jumping two.
  23. It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree about why the system is in place or whether or not these guys would or wouldn't have progressed. The simple fact is it gives them more track time and has probably brought them on at a quicker rate by riding 60-80 meetings per season rather than 20-30 as they would have if only riding in one league instead of 2 or 3. It does also help them by spending time with riders who have more experience, even if some may not share their knowledge directly, lots can be learned just from watching them preparing for meetings. It served that purpose, what the authorities need to do now is move it forward and bring in a fresh batch to get them plenty of track time and experience.
  24. Think most of the previous posters would give the bspa something to work with, but in order to get that progression, some of the top premier league riders would need to stop doubling up and using the premier league as a safety net. Fans may see it as weakening the PL, but to be honest, I think we have been spoiled by the quality of riders who have been racing for PL teams. Sometimes in order to move forwards you need to take a step back. At the moment the gap is too much between NL and PL but virtually nil stepping up to EL, this has to be addressed, or things will never improve in this country, either as a credible league system to attract the world's best, or to steadily increase the confidence and ability of British talent.
