Wolves v Sheffield PO Semi Final 3rd October 2022
speed ace replied to Beowulf's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
How much do you reckon they paid Frickie to get injured so they could bring in Lambert....... Get a grip!!! If it's in the rules it's not cheating! -
Not good news for Paul, or the team. Need to get cover for sure, think it would please the Leicester fans if Victor was offered employment by his parent club

Scorpions v Edinburgh 4.8.19 League
speed ace replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Same, unless it was for home number 1 -
What would be the point of that, he's earned little enough over the last few weeks, and unless he already had the deal done to go to Edinburgh (which I suspect he would), he wouldn't know when he would have an opportunity to earn again. Also I suspect he would not want to upset his parent club, and at the same time put himself in the "shop window"

This also gives monarchs a reserve with experience again in either James or William, think the problem is people were expecting William to be replaced. (Lawson should also be good for an extra point or two from reserve)

Well done Glasgow, no tac sub required, an engine failure for the skipper and 3 points from r/r ! And they still manged to win by 6.

Unfortunately a major headache when a team is built this way, some astute team management required to maximise the resources at hand.

Don't take it so personally, wouldn't like to even guess at how many freebies Glasgow promotion have given away in the last few years and to be honest it's a pity a crystal ball wasn't available to them as I'm sure it would have reaped better rewards if it had been meetings like the last few that newbies were watching. Also I'm sure they got a bit annoyed when regular supporters used them as if it was a bonus.

Absolutely! That's my point, the sport has to be affordable to all promoters to put out evenly balanced teams and then it should lead to decent entertainment, not one sided matches that supporters don't want to go to because they already know their team will romp to victory, except the glory hunters of course. As alluded to in my previous posts it should be about progression of talent through the league set up we have in this country and hopefully getting British riders back on the world stage, but to do that promoters need to work in one direction and not just do what suits their own agenda (as Glasgow could be accused of in recent times).

Unfortunately not all teams can afford to compete at this level, and fans these days are not going to support a team that consistently finishes in the lower half of the table. Some teams may disagree c l doesn't need rescuing, Cost to put out 11 evenly matched teams could be greatly reduced just by eliminating the top two riders in each team. Don't think one big league is going to benefit British speedway short or long term, again amalgamation would only be to bolster premiership. Just a pity more promoters weren't prepared to take a chance and actually promote the sport, and improve things like Glasgow have done If all the riders that had quit because they couldn't make the step up work were still riding you probably wouldn't be far away

British speedway has the perfect platform for progression, i.e. a three league structure that if used correctly would be the perfect stepping stones for riders to develop. Unfortunately the points limit should have been dropped to this level 5 years ago, and also a maximum average put on riders to force them to step up a league, and stay there! Lost count of the number of promising riders I've seen at third tier level who have failed to make a step up to the middle league pay and have quit speedway all together, I'm sure at least a few of them would have developed further given time to gain confidence riding at a higher level. British speedway simply cannot afford to pay the top riders in the world any more, as is stated above, clubs need to cut their cloth accordingly, or they are simply putting themselves out of business

Sorry hadn't realized he had asked to step down
-
Something tells me Jack did not step down voluntarily

Would have agreed if referee had implemented the rule book properly and denied a facility for the rider who failed the test on the night. That did not happen and Monarchs were allowed to revert to R/R effectively making them no worse off, not the fault of anyone other than Monarchs team they couldn't cover for an absent team member. Sorry

Only in British speedway, your totally correct, forgive me for suggesting something sooo crazy

Could hold it next week if riders and venue are available.

Agreed Paulco. I have had nothing but admiration for how the club has been transformed by the Facenna's.........but I can't get my head round the fact that they would target this specific group of stalwart supporters in order to address the financial shortfall. There must be fairer options available to them and I would have had no qualms to paying an reasonable increase to the concession price. Unfortunately they obviously have a good idea that the stalwarts will stand by their team no matter what, and that includes paying the increase in cost. Unfortunately they may find this backfires as people will choose which matches they can actually afford to go to, the risk there is they may get out of the habit of not going. Even given the fact there will be far fewer home matches than last season for every club, people don't always understand that they will be money up over the course of the season, as value for money has actually decreased. Maybe the more prudent will buy a season ticket, but again that would also require either forward planning to save, or digging into savings.

Exactly my thinking when news broke that the stadium was being stripped, unfortunately it looks like you are spot on in your theory.

Regardless of who the remaining 4 are, you don't sign a top 3 like that without having the full team in place. Just a case of drip feeding the signings to keep interest, it makes it a guessing game for supporters of all teams as to who may still be available!!!
