King's Lynn v Wolves 11/04/18

Star Lady, Haza and Bagpuss have all given you very good reasons why tonight’s meeting was called off early but you clearly either don’t understand what they are saying or you don’t believe them so I thought I would add my two pennies worth. Firstly I am a farmer something I’ve been doing for 45 years and I’m also a member of the local drainage board so I would like to think that I do know something about rain and the effects that it has on the ground. You said in an earlier post that if there was some rain in the morning of a meeting that it should still go ahead, well yes I agree with you there but only on the assumption that we hadn’t had a lot of rain say in the 4 or 5 days leading up to that meeting, the trouble here is that we have had heavy rain virtually everyday for the last 3 weeks. Even when it hasn’t rained much like today there has been no wind or sun to start drying the track which is most definitely well into the clay base by now. If we’d have had 10/15ml of rain only this morning Buster would have easily have prepared a good racing surface but we haven’t so it is what it is. We even had a stock car meeting called off last week something I’ve never heard of before. The weather for the weekend and next week appears to be more encouraging and in my opinion the track will only just be ready for the meeting against Belle Vue next week so tonight’s meeting, not in a million years so great decision by KL Speedway to call it off early. -

Going on the amount of rain we had over night I’m not surprised it’s been called off. Definitely the right decision. -
Which rider is to improve the most in 2018
Clive Ward replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We all know Roberts nemesis is his gating and if he is to become a top rider then that part of his racing certainly has to improve. I think this is a big year for him, just sorting his gating out could easily put a point on his average and with good equipment under him (I’m sure he will have) I’m looking for him to achieve a nine point average this year. Improved gating = more wins, more wins = more points, more wins = more confidence, all of these = happy rider, happy rider = my 9 point target for him. With the standard of the league now I’m sure he can achieve this and if he does we will definitely not be in the bottom two like most people seem to predict we will be. -

While I agree that Bewley is a great talent has everyone forgotten that Robert Lambert is still only 19. -
Trouble is that most of those gaps were for fans with season tickets and forever what reason those fans didn’t attend they still count them in the attendance even though they have only bought the ticket but aren’t actually there.
-
Wasn’t saying that you were complaining about them, sorry if my post insinuated that but that was not my intention. I bought my tickets for Notts game against Worcestershire in the 20/20 big bash in August so I’ll let you know if they aren’t as customer friendly as you say, but in my past experiences with similar such clubs I would be surprised if it wasn’t.
-
I’ve never had a pre printed ticket before.
-
I personally can’t complain about the service of marshals box office or catering staff although the one thing that does pee me off is that the club charges 50p to pay for your ticket using a debit card something I’ve never come across in my life. The rest of your post was spot on but I can see this area being improved with Robin Brundle now on board, let’s hope so anyway.

A couple of years ago at Lynn Buster was asked about giving out the attendance at meetings and his answer was that when he was chairman of Kings Lynn F.C. and the attendance was given out there was always fans shouting out that there were more at the game and that they were on the fiddle so he said it wasn’t worth the agro. Personally I would be interested in what the crowd was at meetings but not unduly bothered if it isn’t.

Imo Brady Kurtz or Max Fricke should partner Doyle unless Holder ups his game considerably in league racing
-
With the neck injuries of late maybe they should be made compulsory to wear.
-
Sorry with a team that includes Bates, Newman and Sarjeant I just can’t see them finishing in the top 2. Much happier with our bottom 3 of Rose, Kerr and Andersen
-
Can’t really argue with that as I think it’s going to be extremely close throughout the league. I can never get my predictions right take last season I put Swindon to finish bottom so what do I know. This season you could maybe draw the finishing positions out of a hat and be closer than some peoples predictions (mine included).
-
Agree with your top 3 but I think the next 5 all pretty much of a likeness which is why I predicted that we will finish 4th. I also said that we would be this years surprise team and I still think that. The overall league imo will be much closer than for years which should make it more interesting. The bottom 5 could all have a shout for a play-off place going into their last couple of matches which would be good for both supporters and British speedway.

I’ll bet Lewis Kerr wasn’t to dissapointed with the new rule either
-
I’d heard something about it a fair while ago but nobody seemed to know just what was going to happen so I asked Dale at the fans forum and he told me what was going to happen this year.
-
Apparently riders can move at the start without being penalised and races will only be called back if a rider touches or breaks the tapes.
-
With the new ruling on starts we shouldn’t lose so much time. Should save at least 10 minutes a meeting.
-
Most certainly is, kings Lynn on a Saturday night Boston on a Sunday night, great times
-
Yes I agree with you about the start time as as I would think 99.9 % of fans would but meetings running on to around 10 o’clock isn’t something that has just started to happen. Going back 50 years my uncle used to take me to Lynn when it used to be on a Saturday night and every week before the second half final we would have to go and stand on the third bend so we could get a quick getaway to get home to watch Match of the Day so this has been going on for years and personally it would take something much worse than this to stop me attending. I do realise it’s a different world now and if my kids were round about 8 years old I would want them home and in bed before 10 with school the next day so I do see your point.
-
Yes I agree especially the 7.30 prompt start time and to keep meetings moving at a decent rate so meetings are finished around 9ish. I don’t think whoever prepared the track last year would have made any difference to the quality of racing as I am strongly in the opinion that until we improve the quality of the shale Buster uses the racing will not dramatically improve. The point of my original post was that several people were always very quick to knock the club when no announcements were made so when information is now given to us on a regular basis I did think that some people might remark on that things were improving and that it was a good beginning but I suppose that was wishful thinking but I look forward with interest when we have a blip at home and to be we sure, we will along with all clubs and when we do I bet the same old moaners will have a field day even those that rarely attend a meeting.
-
Most certainly is

Can’t believe that nobody has made comment on the news of our involvement with the UEA and about Roberts interview at the youth awards night, if nothing had been put on the web site I’m pretty sure certain people would have been moaning none stop on here.
