  1. Pub landlord: "Sorry mate, I don't want to charge a tenner a pint but I can't be bothered to try and get the punters in. I can't be bothered with Facebook or Twitter. I'm not wasting money on making the pub look nice. Oh and sorry for the budget lager, but don't worry, the die hard regulars will foot the bill."
  2. Would it be possible to shine a light on why some rules are applied fairly and others aren't? There are a select few posters who regularly resort to abuse which is against the forum rules, but it seems only the more unpopular members are punished?
  3. This stupid attitude of "the only option is to cut costs" is ridiculous. More cost cuts = lower attendances = even more cost cuts. It's quite clearly a one way ticket. The only way out of this is to get more people through the turnstiles. Reducing the quality isn't the way to do this. But nevermind, this topic has been discussed at length and it's clear the promoters are keen to simply hold on for as long as they can rather than do anything about it. And before somebody comes back and says that they are doing all they can, stop fooling yourself. They've done sod all about it. "Oh but they let kids in half price that one time 3 years ago"... that's not promoting.
  4. Poole doesn't even have a team sponsor at the moment?
  5. Fair assessment I'd say. I'd imagine though that even with the shockers he will still score well more often than he doesn't.
  6. Don't worry, there are some real numptys on this forum. I don't know whether it's speedways trend of cynical old codgers (both in the promotions and the grandstands!) that results in the miserable bunch who think their opinions matter more than anybody elses, or that they have the unique ability to work out who is behind a username based on some arbitrary nonsense criteria. But to be fair, you won't find comedy like this elsewhere! The fact that several members actually decided that you were another member due to the fact you referred to a rider by his name! You couldn't write this stuff, you really couldn't!
  7. It must be incredibly boring having a heat leader that you're expecting 12pts from every meeting! Might as well just give him the points in advance if that's the case and do away with the formality of him turning up! The only decent racing this season looks like it's going to come from the second strings and the reserves!
  8. It's not common sense at all. Many people have very similar styles. You cannot group together everybody who has a style you don't like and say they are the same person. I expect if you were to read a thread on the forum without looking at any usernames or profile pictures you would struggle to pick out which posters are which. There will be some that you spot, but calling out a random user just isn't on. It's very hostile and unfair. "I don't agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Clearly you have no respect for free speech. You cannot go around telling people what they can and can't say, you cannot see through a username, you do not know who is sitting behind their computer, and your views do not matter one little bit more than anybody elses.
  9. That may well be! But for as long as it's a forum, and not just somewhere to massage each others egos, then every post by every member should be given as much respect as any other.
  10. Do you have access to server IP address logs? Can you see the user agent string of the user? No? So how do you know who is behind that username? Or which other usernames they operate? A hunch isn't evidence.
  11. Banning a member of a forum is an absolute disgrace. It doesn't matter how annoying they are, how arrogant they are, how immature they are or how outspoken they are. The whole concept of a forum is an open platform for everybody to share their views, regardless of whether they are liked or agreed with. A forum that stifles free speech is not a forum of any integrity. The only exception should be spam and abuse towards other members.
  12. I've always agreed that speedway should be a cut-throat sport, but I would have thought the experience and loyalty that Chris brings, along with the team spirit working with his brother, is easily worth 1.5pts.
  13. Exactly! Perhaps their reasoning when assessing Antonio had something to do with the fact that the highest performing international rider in the league was also on a 7pt average? Hmm? The reasoning behind a riders assessed average is not made public, so you saying it was based on an average he achieved nine years ago is just a complete guess, and nonsense I would suspect. The powers that be determined, within the rules, that his average be 7pts, which means that too is a genuine average. A 2 year old average is not a fair assessment of a riders ability (The fact that Doyle had an 8.44 average at the same time Tai had a 7.03pt average highlights this exactly), and neither is the BSPA deciding behind closed doors what a riders average should be. However, they are both within the rules and so neither side has any right to complain. The fact that both of these riders were brought in to just try and get an unfair advantage over the other teams leaves neither side with any sort of "high ground" to take.
  14. I can't see why Chris was not included. I can't imagine it's anything to do with their relationship as I would have thought Jack would've stuck by his side if that were the case. Not to mention Chris even said on Twitter that it was down to the new rules.
  15. That's what happens when you've got an admin that doesn't care anymore (except for the Google AdSense account!) and 1 moderator who bans based on who she does or doesn't agree with!
  16. It's deluded to think you can decide what is wrong and what isn't. It's just as reasonable for a fan to be upset at an unrepresentative 2 year old average as a fan that doesn't agree with a rider assessment. They were both lawful. You can't whinge at a bottom half GP rider being on a 7.00pt average when you've got the world champion racing on the same average.
  17. I'm not insulting the young lad, I'm saying he's not good enough yet. If he is good enough yet then it says a hell of a lot about Premiership speedway doesn't it? If we're signing a 2 pointer at reserve then I think it's a disgrace that Chris Holder has been hung out to dry.
  18. Can't believe I'm agreeing with Gavan...
  19. James Shanes?! What are you doing to our team Cecil? Better bring Chris back sharpish!
  20. You're blaming the team manager for how his rider performed? Have you got a brain in that nut of yours? You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. The rapport Neil has with his riders is second to none. He opens his home to the entire team, even taking care of their food and washing for them. There are few managers in Britain the same performances many riders have achieved under Neils management.
  21. Think going top heavy was definitely a big mistake. Doyley had a very good 2015 but still plenty of heat leaders out there capable of beating him. To assume he will win every race all season long is a bit insane really. Rye House looking like they've got the balance almost spot on IMO.
