  1. The atmosphere is fantastic! With my family, in the warm, having a drink and a burger without having to shell out another £10 each. Without people watching it on Sky there wouldn't be any speedway on Sky. Not sure if your familiar with how television programming works but you generally need viewers to warrant broadcasting something. Smart arse. No, they wouldn't. Sky would have more viewers, therefore Sky would generate more advertising revenue, therefore the sport would receive a higher contribution from Sky. Additionally, the increased exposure on national television would increase sponsorship opportunities for the clubs and drive even more revenue into the sport. I don't know why some people have so much trouble understanding the concept of commercial television coverage. It's not like Sky are covering every match, is it? They cover a tiny fraction of the fixtures staged each season. Fans aren't staying away all year just because Sky cover a few matches. They are staying away because it's expensive and, to be honest, of a very poor standard.
  2. I would much rather watch a match on Sky than attend. I get commentary, a dozen angles, close up pictures, slow motion replays, rider and manager interviews... and it's included in my subscription.
  3. http://www.speedwaygb.co/issues13/el13_final.pdf It's a joke how far the league has fallen in just a few years. On a side note... You've got to laugh!
  4. Can you point out one post where I attacked you prior to this? What on earth are you talking about with your cousin and his wife? I'd happily co-operate fully with the police. If you're going to accuse somebody of something then at least get the right person. I deal with a lot of dicks in my line of work, so this is nothing new to me. However, if you're going to accuse me of a crime in a public place then you'd sure as hell better be ready to back it up with hard evidence, or you'll very quickly be on the end of a slander complaint to the police. Additionally, just to clarify, do you realise that anything you post publicly online is in the public domain? As soon as you make it public online, you make it available to anybody else to post or disseminate as they feel fit. I strongly suggest you moderate the information you post online rather than blame somebody who has nothing to do with it.
  5. "Pot....kettle...black"... are you suggesting that abusive members should continue to be abusive in order to keep up appearances? Bit of an odd thing to come from a Global Moderator... I thought you don't get involved in moderation anymore? If that's the case why don't you remove the title and stop stirring the sh*t with forum members? I don't think I've ever seen a constructive post from you. Why don't you try and make the forum a better place, rather than getting off on having "power" over some online speedway fans.
  6. Who gives a toss? These guys are both capable of beating each other, what else matters? When you get to the point where you're comparing fractions of a point then you're definitely nit picking.
  7. I'm afraid loyalty doesn't pay the bills! It's funny how loyalty doesn't seem to come into the equation when the rider is performing badly. When Poole kicked out Davey Watt a whole bunch of people were up in arms. Then Davey moved to Leicester and... continued to be crap, and nobody could care less about loyalty. The only thing that should really be taken into consideration when signing a rider is their ability to achieve or exceed their average. There are of course other factors, for example, the effect their presence has on other riders performances and their ability to "put bums on seats", but generally it's a numbers game.
  8. I honestly don't know why you or brum bother. I've been visiting the forum for years and the trend hasn't changed one bit. There is quite literally more time spent arguing on this forum than there is discussing speedway, and by some margin. What's the point though? We already know Starman is a spanner, Shovlar is a shi t stirrer and Gater 1 does a little bit of both. Oh and the hypocrisy of some members on here is absolutely astonishing. What exactly is this line that Pinny crossed? The forum rules state no abuse whatsoever, so surely abuse of any manner is crossing the line? It seems some members think there is an acceptable level of abuse! Could somebody please explain the secret formula to what level of abuse is appropriate? Does it vary member to member? Either ban everybody for any form of abuse, change the rules to specify what counts as abuse or just stop enforcing it whatsoever!
  9. I reckon they should rename it Formula Speedway
  10. Queue* If you're going to slate somebodies English then at least use it correctly.
  11. +1 for using the term prerogative correctly -1 for spelling it wrong
  12. What part of his factual post was guff exactly? Every point he made was spot on. He's not insulting Kyle. He's saying that, from an average point of view, Kyle has made little progress. However, from a performance point of view, he has shown he can beat top class riders and has made progress. I remember a couple of seasons ago it was painful to watch Kyle... all over the track, wobbling out of every corner, giving us fans a heart attack. Bit like how Anton rode for us. Now Kyle is a lot more composed, seems to have a lot better control over the bike and his confidence shines through more. Fact of the matter is, he's never really been any better than a reserve. That's not to say we don't want him to! I'm a massive fan of Kyle and I really hope he can kick on and stamp his authority this season. He's got everything he needs to do so.
  13. Think this could be the closest season in a very long time. Let's hope for some good news from Coventry.
  14. I wouldn't say that Matt show's no loyalty. Bjarne Pedersen spent 10 years at Poole and many other riders have spent significant time within the team. I think riders who have given the most to the team generally get shown a little more loyalty, but when push comes to shove the averages need to fit.
  15. Just ignore them. No point flogging a dead horse!
  16. Is that a bad thing though? Is there room for loyalty within sport? Competition by it's very nature is about using the skills and tools you have available to you to defeat the other competitors. Surely the balance between ruthlessness and loyalty should be that which yields the very best competitive results? And in that case I would argue that Matt would appear to have mastered that balance throughout the past decade?
  17. Not very long term when people won't turn up to pay for it, is it?
  18. With the way things are going I doubt very much there will be a long term. And if there is, there won't be enough money to bring any international riders over at this rate.
  19. I expect the winner was picked before the voting commenced
  20. Would rather have had Gomolski. I hope as Matt say's that we will be looking at the next turbo twins, but to me it's more a depressing reminder of how deeply saddening it is to have lost our original turbo twins. I certainly don't know when/if we'll be lucky enough to have another rider of Darcy's caliber on our tracks.
  21. Very sorry situation. Would be amazed if Coventry pull this together in time for the start of the season. What a selfish and untrustworthy man Sandhu is.
  22. The BSPA should allow the public to submit logos and vote on them. I know their overwhelming arrogance would never allow this, but I also know I could produce a better selection of logos in just a couple of hours.
  23. What an awful selection of logos. Once again demonstrating that it's not what you know, but who you know in British Speedway, as a few close friends have clearly been given website and graphic design roles without needing to apply, be qualified or have any past experience (since 1999 when this sort of quality was acceptable) for the role!
