No room at the Inn? - Cardiff
The Know replied to Jay's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Every year you find people on here moaning theres no room left. BOOK EARLY THEN ! -
Speedway has always been thought of as a pikey sport, people dont like what i say but unfortunatly its true. Most fans come from the same background and i would think around 80% own a anorack or wulfsport coat. Speedway will never attract the sort of people who could move the sport forward, more so in the U.K.

Been going to poland four many years, attendances down there and football now more popular than speedway. Think what you will but it will not get any better than it is now.
-
Most people attending speedway are over 40, the sport is not attracting young people as there is so much more to do and most find it boring. Over the next 10 years the numbers will drop sharply, sad but true.

grands prix series 2005...
The Know replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Scott will be very very lucky to finish in the top six and lindback has no chance of this, more likely to end up in the pits crying like in swedish g.p. -
grands prix series 2005...
The Know replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just as important IRES 123, HOW MANY G.Ps do you support. Have run at large stadiums for a few years now but not enough people turn out. As they say if you dont use it you will lose it and you wont get knocked over by the rush to take it over. Speedway at domestic or international level will always be a minority sport so you have to do the very best with the tools provided. Their are big plans for the future but somtimes you need to take a step backwards to then go forward and this is what is happening. ( see you all in poland then ) -
grands prix series 2005...
The Know replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think 05 will be the year you see tony, jason and leigh start to slip back with the younger riders starting to be more dominant. Denmark will step up a gear with riders filling the top 3 places in sgp at times and making the wtc their own. G.B has no chance of a world champion this year as scott has lost his drive slightly and lee even though very good has not got the abiltiy to go the next step. We will just have to wait and see what happens but i think it will a case of out with the old and in with the new. (WHO CARES WHO WINS LETS JUST HAVE GOOD CLOSE RACING ) -
What GPs are you going to?
The Know replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I will be at all of them, pity theirs only 9 would be better if we had 15 GPs to go to. -
The new format should prove very good and is a much fairer system for all the riders. This cannot now be changed for the next 3 years now FIM approval has be granted.

Elite clubs in 2004 recieved £45000 each from the sky deal. T.R recieved £265000 for brokering the deal. T.R s greed is shown by him requiring the same percentage of the new deal.

Kevin may i ask why should bsi pay money to anybody, ie bspa or so on. British speedway has caused many problems for the s.g.p in the past. When a rider is invited into the s.g.p he signs a contract which overules all other contracts, this means the s.g.p comes first. No rider will put domestic speedway before s.g.p. I think british speedway to be very stale and boring at the moment and only watch g.p racing, if riders are made to pick it will be even worse as we all know what the answer will be.

All money paid to the f.i.m for all motorsports goes into the pot to oversee the running of these events. This includes many free holidays to meeting , dinners, nice cars and big pay packets. But is this no differant to all sports.
-
The rates of pay are agreed between the b.s.i and f.i.m and then rubber stamped. The b.s.i then pay the prize money after each g.p. Speedway is no differant than all motorcycle sport run under the f.i.m the prize money is not that good. The riders need to get good sponsorship to make lots of money but unlike moto g.p this is not easy as speedway is not very popular. The main reason for this is because their is no major brands in speedway, ie honda -yamaha you only have jawa and g.m and both are stuck in the 60s with design. With motocross and moto g.p people can buy the bikes to use and because of large worldwide sales more money is put back into these sports. No one buys speedway bikes as they have no use to the normal person and so the suppliers to speedway cannot put money into speedway as they dont have it. Will it change no, and thats because of the small amount of this type of equipment being sold means people will not get involed. SAD BUT TRUE !

British Boys - Class of 2005
The Know replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You may have your own veiws on this but i think there wrong. Lets just look who has tried differant tuners in the g.p. 1. tony r. moved forward. 2. lee .r moved forward. 3. ryan s. moved forward. 4. hans a. moved forward. 5. nicki. p. moved forward. slightly. 6. jason crump. moved forward. The list goes on and on. When 95% of the riders use differant equipment at the g.p turning up with whats o.k in england is not good enough. This is in no way a dig as some people see but fact. ( SLOW BIKES MEAN BAD RESULTS ) Mark knows the normal race tracks he has been riding on for years and does very well but as i have said before its not good enough elsewhere. -

Were not talking about trucks and pit boards. Riders all come a to hault at some point. When this happens you need to change things, if it means bringing in a new face or changing tuner it must be done to keep up with everyonelse. I am not saying marks people are no good but it is plain to see it is not working, the same as his equipment has looked slow all year in the gp. Get a new tuner or try a gm engine it might just bring the spark back and put some confidance into him and the team. -

Marks problem is not down to him but his setup and team dont cut the mustard at this level. I think if he gets a better set up ie team and machinary he could very well get back to the top at gp level. -
Kevin you seem to think every thing is about cost. If you sat down with j.p and o.o and saw their plans for the future and their passion to make the event more competitive you would not see it as cost saving all the time. The prize money is to increase and be spread out more evenly between the 16 riders so the chap in say 14 place has more to spend on his set up. At present lower order gp riders get very little but next year they will get a much better deal alround.
-
The reasons for changing the present system are. 1. so riders dont travel 900 miles for 2 rides. 2. the points gap stay close between riders. 3. a fairer system with all riders getting the same amount of rides. 4.because you keep all your points from your rides if you dont get to the semi / final and the riders who do will lose theirs means it pays to be consistant and you dont always need to be in the final to be world champion. I think this system will be very good as the best and most consistant rider over 9 rounds will win, not the normal system where riders come in half way through a meeting and you then mostly have the same ones in the final.

Norway G.P. - Predictions
The Know replied to Ozyace's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
tony lee r hans This would be a good result. Nicholls not even in the final, ate to many pies. Crump out in 1st eliminator, lets hope so. TONY CHAMPION -
I see in the local paper it was said he did not look out of place in the g.p. Myself i thougth he looked pretty average, 1 last and 1third. Yet another in one year out the next, good job the system has changed to stop this.
-
K.M as you have pointed out you do not know anyone at bsi or know their plans for the future so why keep putting them down. It would appear you do have a problem with them maybe you should turn your attention to the crap job the BSPA do, as they do have problems.

Why does kw always moan about bsi., there is no one better to do the job so why keep going on about it.(maybe they should go round with silly haircuts and suits )
