  2. What is your opinion of Mike Bast 1.???
  3. Yes i have that meeting on Dvd, pity some of the BLRC meetings 1982/83 were not covered some of my best speedway memories 1983 was a good year for me.
  4. Scott Autrey, Bruce Penhall,Dennis Sigalos, Kelly/ Shawn Moran, John Cook, Lance King, Sprouts Elder, Mike Bast, Alan Christian.
  5. The White City incident started it off and there were a few other moments before.I think there was a tough race between the two at Belle Vue in a England v USA match ?? but before that they got on well i have a picture of the two smiling after Carter had beaten him in the helmet at Halifax.
  6. Bringing up the Swindon situation is totally irrelevant, the strange thing is if the team is known why not announce it.
  7. That is a different story and out of all the supporters hands, but playing silly beggars and not naming a side before February seems rather strange especially if you know it.??
  8. Why not announce it then? bizarre really, there could be a percentage of fans thinking of maybe doing something else or picking and choosing there meeting's.Or does the owner just presume or take for granted that fans will turn up.This episode is exactly how British speedway is being run secretive things being decided behind closed doors and no transparency.
  9. Imagine talking to someone about the coming season and someone asks you who is in your team and you reply i dont know yet.I cannot see any logic in it, i cant get my head around it.
  10. As i am aware Steve, Kenny got on very well with the Moran's named his daughter after Kelly.Even though you cannot forget the wicked thing Kenny did you cannot take away that he was a great rider.
  11. Totally right Steve Halifax could of signed Bruce but it never happened. But before the infamous incident 82 both Kenmy/Bruce got on well after were both respectful of each other's ability.
  12. I think this seems a bit dodgy Keith, surely all they have time for is the track nothing else.It is nearly February even that would be stretching it for a late March press day. Also if the track has some banking wont that take time a big ask in my opinion and that is relying on the weather being kind to you.
  13. I was there in 1977 i remember hearing Bast / Penhall did not get the practice sessions that they required and were promised.Penhall scored 3 points beating Bast, Keith White, Crump(ef).I cant think of anyone believing that day that Bruce would go on and be favourite in 1980 and win his first title in 81.I do recall Dan McCormick saying when Cradley signed him that he was a future world champion.
  14. I think he feels his promoter does not listen and he will do exactly what he wants to.do.Yes he has every right to do that at Lynn and i respect that he puts his money in and that is his right. But overall unless there is an improvement in gates ( etc) and thing's look brighter he has to go as the front of British speedway.
  15. A very dangerous ploy to play waytogo28, in a way taking King's Lynn's loyal supporters for granted.Who can be sure who will turn up ? i know Swindon Robins fans who have been going as long as me yet they miss certain meetings now unheard of ten years ago. Also it would be interesting to hear what Lynn fans say on Robert how many now go just to follow him.??? Lynn over the years have had there folk heroes Bettsy, Mike, Tiddler (ect) to follow how many did they put on the gate.My point is if Robert give the UK a miss in the future how would King's Lynn's gates be looking then.?
  16. Strange weird to be honest,Chapman has been the front of British speedway what for three years now??? i have seen no progress whatsoever. His communication skills are either poor or he does not grasp that supporters want to be filled in on any issue and quickly.Speedway has always had this reputation of a secret society a closed shop decision's being made and not being released.Look i am not knocking him for putting his money in but he can't sit behind that he has to be transparent on everything rules (etc). My best friend came down from Stoke on Trent and we were talking about the teams in the Prem King's Lynn was mentioned.I said they have not got a team yet he laughed he said how can you sell the club for a press day club start if you have not got a 1/7 in place. It is like going to new restaurant but not knowing what the prices and menu are ok look all the Lynn fans will know there full team by February but that does seem a strange business decision.
  17. With this league i can see fans picking and choosing there meetings. At Swindon we generally get 1000 plus 12/1300 on a good day for the life of me how they can afford Doyley, Batch, Toby on those crowds god knows. But you are right if we cant encourage fresh blood to support the sport the longterm picture looks bleak.
  18. If it is to believed and the Lynn side has already been assembled not announcing it must be one of the strangest decisions i have ever known in speedway very Bizarre.
  19. What are the riders that you feel can make this there level.? For me Kemp/Brennan are future Prem riders they will do well but the two that interest me are Rowe/ Atkins at Somerset Anders being a Swindon asset i hope he kicks on and will be a future Robin.Shanes and Mountain will improve and Danyon Hume if he stays injury free will eventually get his chance again.
  20. Those three young lads you mentioned are really promising but to average over 6 in there first full season at that level is a big ask.I dont see Flint doing it if he can average 4 that would be a great season.Yes the other two in my opinion are the two i believe can really kick on and have a good career. This league is still a tough one, different challenges for the younger lads the good thing is most clubs have riders at the bottom end all trying to prove this is there level.A few will fall away and struggle but some will relish the challenge but good luck to all of them.
  21. A brilliant service for all of us a real unsung hero, something we should never take for granted. This forum sometimes gets some stick but the guys who do the updates are proper speedway people who really care and make a difference.
  22. Agree totally about Christer, Bengt Banger Jansson would have to be considered one around 69/71 ?? Gote Nordin was classy and Toby Harrysson ( like Sverre injury) both World class.
  23. Christer had to be one of the most exciting riders that i ever see ride i can remember him getting the track record at the Abbey.Sverre i never see him ride at his best but without injury he is in a group alongside Graham Warren ( ect) that were good anough to be World Champ.
  24. The three for me are Wolves -Swindon- Belle Vue.
