  1. Steve i also felt he made a mistake in the away Leicester encounter he kept Bowtell in an easier winnable heat 8.In that meeting he also gave Wright five starts to be fair he did score seven .He somehow got away with that night because Hume surprisingly went out in heat 14 and beat Douglas.
  2. I remember that meeting in 1983 tiger remember Michael Lee making a terrible mistake and letting Kenny Carter through.
  3. The race that stuck out for me was the Nielsen v Sigalos encounter in the British open. Dennis was top class and we have spoke about it on endless occasions 1981/ 86. Penhall, Sigalos, Shawn , Hans, Erik, Tommy, Michael, Kenny, Billy, how it never quite happened.
  4. Was the league racing better at White City than the international events Steve? I did not see alot of league racing there certainly did not see Kennett really push on in his career there .
  5. God Daniel you are a pretty positive guy right.? or realistic.
  6. Brennan, Flint and Palin i recon will be better than Rowe don’t know about the international scene that is a different ballgame. My meaning on the thread was meant to show those named have made some great progress. Also on the other foot let us see some of those really talented foreign lads come over here and get beat up as some surely would? .For me Daniel the question was are we bringing a few through the system Vatcher is maybe won’t be world class but will have Ok careers.
  7. As much as i like Anders Rowe really followed him since his mini track days at Swindon a few on that list are on par and could be better longterm than him.For me those named are doing well to hold there own in a tough Championship league and it is tough. Not many of us believe that many will go on to race in Poland full time but the youngsters have made progress.
  8. Drew has had some decent meetings he has beat some good riders but his home form at Ipswich is pretty moderate.Away from home he has done really well he will be ok.
  9. Yes and most of us really appreciate that , the effort is often forgotten. Also with most decent promoters there show goes on by having loads of unsung heroes in the background doing there bit without much reward.Last night was unfortunate i have seen quite a few really wet meetings over the years go on and they improve over the night .Sometimes though the track enables the riders only to follow the leader with the riders often being filled in.Everyone in the sport needs to pull together we don’t seem to have that at the moment a crying shame really.
  10. I am like you and endless others have given up on the sport, still love it BUT there is a chance to salvage something we all know how good the sport can be.On this forum there are some great ideas bandied about, do they get considered who knows? every conference come Christmas we all hope and prey maybe there is a different approach.Never happens for me this year something has to happen and things need to be put in place now not just a two day jolly up in Tenerife with a few needless rules tinkered with.
  11. I have been keeping track on how the young Brits have been doing in all leagues and thing’s don’t look to bad.I wondered what other members thought generally..? The riders i have been following have all acquitted themselves well ( ie) Brennan, Flint, Palin, Hume, Bowtell, J.Thompson, D.Thompson,Bickley, Gilkes, Kemp, Rowe, Jenkins,.At the moment my top five would be Brennan, Palin, Flint, Rowe, Hume, . GREAT that all of these young riders are holding there own in a tough Championship and six of those are also riding in the Premiership as well. Fingers crossed all of these lads can improve ( if they still have clubs to ride for?) any thought’s.?
  12. It would be a brilliant experience for Adam if he got in the GPS and a big challenge machinery and set up wise. But he could take it as a learning curve try to enjoy it and he could surprise .It is great we have another Brit in the mix hope to see him again at Swindon in 2022? pigs might fly !!!! as Fraser said we are DOOMED.
  13. Good luck for whatever things you have planned Barry in the future hopefully you will get a side up and running for the NL Next year will certainly be having a trip there with the wife. Was going to go a couple of years ago v Leicester but could not get a late train home after 9.30.Contacted you and your team and they advised me about the Portsmouth/ Southampton ferry and were terrific most tracks you don’t even get a response.
  14. Crump had that 13 point score at home then went and had that horrible spill at Wolves. He probably came back to soon but the signs are good his race fitness is getting there and next year if he wants to continue will do even better.
  15. Good point mac and Middlo/ Havvy might have to be brutal and give Cook or Hume an extra ride if need be.But Poole should be able to bed him in most meeting’s certainly at home and give him his four rides .This league at number 2 on tracks you have never experienced is not a cakewalk a big ask time will tell.
  16. If Basso does end up at reserve do you think that could make you less potent in that position certainly away from home Bob.?Or do you think Cook could step up and score six plus from the number two berth. With Cook/ Hume they look like they can score at least 10 plus between them and that is the worse scenario.
  17. You have a great history with some terrific Danes over the years Skidder hopefully this kid could be one for the future.Makes sense in a way don’t know the full story about Zane but his age maybe told the club he was not going to be there for the long haul.I hope Zane progresses at Plymouth he certainly is dedicated and is making a good jist of thing’s after a real setback.
  18. Chuffed for him another Brit getting a chance ,riding for two great clubs this should enable him to progress.
  19. Any guest who comes in and scores four points from that tough number two berth has done his job.If Basso can do the same this side will take alot of beating Scunthorpe put in a spirited performance with a weakened team .Palin showing again what a fine prospect he is fingers crossed longterm for him when i have seen him he looks to have a terrific style.
  20. How did you never do White City Bob? your choices are great never did Haringay either.Only went to Buxton in 2004 loved the track both the Wright bros rode me thinks,
  21. West Ham, Southampton, New Cross, Norwich, Vetlanda.
  22. Aarnio scored 1 point in his 2017 visit, and Simon Lambert scored 1 and 2 points in his two visits to Wimborne Rd in 2018.
  23. How did young Flint go Charlie? gained a great point against Howarth also has Hume done anough to gain a spot. The tigers fans are renowned for loving there in/ out racers over the years( ie) Billy Bales, Shawn, Kelly, Reg, Dougie, Sean the prawn, Ricky. Simon, ( ect) and Danyon is certainly that.If Batch is replaced could maybe Holder or Tungate come in Holder would be a great shout.
  24. Hyde Road, The Shay, NSS, County Ground, Torun.
  25. In many ways but for very different reasons, Arthur Forrest had a similar sort of career to Michael Lee.Arthur started his career aged 16. In 1949 and retired in 1959 aged 26 going into the family business. He reached five world finals and was third in 1956 he also represented England as an 18 year old.Lee well we all know about his history his top flight career 1975/84 was finished in 1984 he won the title in 1980 and reached six world finals finishing placed twice and fourth in 1977.
