  1. Remember reading Paulson actually beating a peak Ivan in heat 1 once, at Hyde Rd that took some doing.
  2. I didnt think you were aloud to have an opinion.?
  3. Madness when will the Lynn fans know there team ? maybe they will have the press day behind closed doors. This situation sums up British speedway at the moment, in the three years in which Chapman was appointed how many statements has he made about his vision for the sport.?
  4. Swindon v Belle Vue 2008 Adams 2. Crumpie 1 three great races i remember Jason taking Adams from the back in heat 1.Then later on Leigh getting his revenge one of the races Crump was all over him but Leigh stood firm.
  5. I actually think when you have an association with a rider Gavan sometimes we can be even more critical.Loram was worth the entrance money alone great value also a great ambassador for the sport.
  6. Jim Tebby beating Ivan Mauger at Wimbledon has to be up there moments like that made speedway special.
  7. Chris Morton's pass of Kenny Carter in the 1983 NLRC at Hyde Rd was a majestic one.
  8. Rickardsson is recognized by better judges than you and i to be possibly the greatest rider ever.Personally he was not one of my favourite's he had plenty of heat wins high averages (ect) plenty of breathtaking rides and bearing in mind his main strength was his personality and temperament. It is only my opinion for what it is worth GET over it trott on.
  9. Would the Craven v Fundin clashes rank high up what a treat maybe Norbold, Ove Fundin fan , Aces 69 could help.?
  10. Two races that stick out for me are Rolf Gramstad beating Ivan Mauger in the 1979 Swindon v Hull meeting and Malcolm Holloway beating Shawn Moran and getting a 12 point max in the 1982 Swindon v Sheffield fixture.
  11. I see Fundin ride twice and i know his career stats very well but am i as qualified to judge him as say a Norbold/Aces69 who see quite a lot of him i would say NO.Witcher's point is he think's stats come into my way of thinking winning races (etc) my point about Rickardsson who i never took to proves that is not the case.
  12. My opinion and i am entitled to it and you mock me and tease me but you have a WEAKNESS it is your way or no way my opinion of Rickardsson shows you that i don't go by stats.
  13. Leigh Adams/Dennis Sigalos/ Graham Warren as examples were all great riders all good anough to be a World Champion there records do not show that though does it? Yes or No.?
  14. Do i judge Mauger on his stats and six titles no I don't, do i rate Rickardsson on his six titles again no as i said he was not a rider i took to yet his record suggests otherwise.
  15. This is the worst post that you have ever posted are you seriously telling me you can be accurate on a assessment of a rider when you have never seen him ride a astonishing claim.
  16. So if Steve had the experience of seeing Gordon ride a lot more times than you do you believe he is better aquipped to comment on Kennett than you.???
  17. No i judged him Ivan more on my memory of watching him ride as a example i was not a fan of Rickardsson. He would not be in my top three riders of all time but he should be judges better than me think so but i judge riders on what my memory tells me.
  18. If you see a rider regularly surely that puts you in a stronger position to comment.
  19. My opinion of Mauger did not change from averaging 11.74 to when he was doing home meetings only at Exeter in 1984.The same with Eric Boocock he came back in 1983 was unsuccessful but his reputation stayed in tact a class act over a long period of time think about it.??
  20. I don't listen to what you say pie in the sky notions what so Ivan Mauger averaged 11.74 ( it was lowered later) my opinion was on his stats really.???? Of course not even in his fourties when he averaged 8 plus to 9 points a meeting he was still a good rider averages don't come into it also you comment on riders you did not see live your knowledge is from the 90s onwards.
  21. You comment on something no DISRESPECT to you but you did not see these riders did you????? How do you no how i percieve thing's ?.Lets look at it from another angle i started watching speedway in 68/69 i don't pretend to know more than Norbold/ Aces 69 who had knowledge and experience of watching these riders live ( i.e.) Knutsson.Craven ( etc) did averages come into my way of thinking certainly not opinions usually are based on the memory bank.
  22. You are Wrong on one part, teams NOW don't have three heat leaders like Collins,Sjosten!Pusey. Louis,Sanders,Davey do they???
  23. I think that day Steve the other Eastie riders scored only five points between them.? Gordon was very good at White city was his trait Steve? forcing his way through on the white line.? My perception of Gordon was he was not that great at Sheffield,Hyde Rd,Halifax,Exeter, the real fast tracks yet he got better there with age.
  24. Gordon was one of the naturally fittest speedway riders that i ever see so strong and he was awesome at the Abbey.I really believed he would ride for us at some stage maybe in 1980/ 82 ??? we got Autrey( great rider) Bastable but it never materialised. At Eastie he was awesome i would say ONLY Kelly could rival him at Arlington bearing in mind Preston,Schwartz,Woods, Dugard were all good homers.
