  1. Tommy was such a good rider remember seeing him aged 16 and thinking he can go places.Very unlucky with injuries and 1986 was a world title year that got away when really it was a 50/50 incident. Was filling out a few programmes out the other night and had forgot just how good Tommy was around the Shay Halifax beating Carter a few times which was no mean feat.
  2. One bad meeting in amongst god knows how many good ones' at Belle Vue that is not a stat you can mention what about the memorable one when England nearly shocked the world.?? What Chunky says is spot on it is baffling why the capacity is what it is such a waste a great racing track wasted. Also in the GP series you are wrong there are some beautiful places to visit ( ie) Prague, Germany, Sweden but some of those tracks racing wise are bang average.
  3. I am not a fan of Cardiff Steve but generally it has to be a big plus for our sport and it is here for the long haul. And you are right was the racing that great at Wembley No!!!! but the experience was breathtaking. What it does show me though there has to be a place for Belle Vue somewhere along the line it is to good a track not to be regularly used.Maybe not for a GP but other regular top class meeting's should be run there, one thing that i do is compare Cardiff to Torun money wise and value wise.I went to Torun last year and am going again next week and money wise it is a darn side cheaper than Cardiff and the experience and atmosphere although different is superb.Just think if you add everything up if you go from the Thursday to the Sunday Cardiff is an expensive business but you have to say if people enjoy it then the money side of it does not matter.
  4. Totally agree Cardiff is overrated bigtime average racing but a great accasion like Wembley .
  5. Palin and Gilks are two riders that i believe have great future's in the sport .Palin for me style wise is very impressive he comes across as a real nice down to earth lad he will be a future Ace in my opinion.
  6. I don't like those Tangerine colours Doris must prefer the traditional red.
  7. The art i suppose is recognising you have a problem with the track and addressing the problem. As SHOCKER says we need that track better than what is was last night to have any chance of beating Wolves we have racers in our team who need a good strip to ride on.
  8. Your time will come Phil, and when it does it will all the sweeter so keep the faith.!!!! I was so surprised with the track last night so unpredictable bumpy with no dirt on it Batch rode his nuts off in one race and then ended turning himself inside out on bend two.Swindon will have to raise there game 20 per cent to contend with Wolves over two legs they are capable fingers crossed.
  9. A great race that track has so many racing lines, Cardiff is not in the same league track wise no comparison at all.
  10. Not a great meeting by recent standards, but it was a great night a healthy crowd and the place was buzzing. The track looked very slick and there were a few bumps here and there but the Robins found a way to win on aggregate in the end.Now we have one egg cup in the cupboard, the play/ offs await us one thing that did worry me a little was the Tobi/ Rasser partnership looking at there scores they looked solid but early on they looked vulnerable.Jensen although not at his best again battled hard and he is so exciting to watch capable of regular passes the crowd had to be between 1,6/900.???? how many do people think.?
  11. Did you get that manky bread at the workplace where Orion washes the dishes at Doris.!!!!
  12. Crowd between 12/1500 maybe ? i hope it is more hope you enjoy your night i presume you have experienced our legendary bogs on the backstraight.??
  13. I feel Stoneman and Hume are in the same category both in/ out racers and a fall could happen at anytime but Hume has regrouped this year and has been excellent for the cubs.
  14. Dont give up on Kemp he would of learned an awful lot this season watch him on you tube in the under 21 final at Belle Vue he was really in the mix.He has had a tough time and Sheffield in the top 5 come to soon for him but next year he can improve also it just's shows you how the NL has got stronger.
  15. Perry and Stoneman both could be real spoilers being a Robins fan be great to see young Anders in the mix wont be long until he is a fulltime robin.
  16. This meeting should be a very interesting one, will it be won by one of the old guard or will one of the young stars win it.I suppose Ellis Perks would be the favourite but i think it could be out of Perks, Kemp, Palin, Hume with maybe Ellis sneaking it.
  17. Do you you class this cup win Doris as important as the Budgies 1967/ 68/ - 1994 Midland cup wins.?
  18. A narrow win on aggregate for the Budgies i recon but this could be a tough evening.Even with Belle Vue having a disappointing season the aces are still an attractive team to watch with Fricke, Bewley,Lidsey, Etheridge all riders i like and will more and likely be the core of there 2020 line up.
  19. Most of us have lumps and bumps Bagpuss but the Poole track has more than most.!!!I. I can only see an away win to be honest with Poole picking Ipswich for the semi final.Deep down i am hoping Poole pick Swindon with the thought of a little extra revenue softening the blow for if they were to lose in the semi.
  20. You keep saying the standard has dropped i would say the Premiership level is as good as it has been for a while.Seeing Douglas/ Becker at reserve shows you that the level is not that bad.You think by bringing in the top stars that would rectify the problems i think not i would rather each club live within there means and keep the club's afloat.
