Jerzy Trzeszkowski and Leonard Raba rode for the budgies in 1978, Trzeszkowski a former world finalist looked well past his best at that time.Raba had ability a great gater and he fell a few times in good racing position's he odviously was pretty useful as he later got in the 1984 Poland World team cup final team in Leszno.

All of the Poles i have seen over the years Steve i have enjoyed watching everyone of them. Most of them have been disappointing Raba,Gluchlich,Slabon( why was he sent to Eastbourne bizarre????) to name a few but always in the back of my mind i knew some of there aquipment was not good anough.Steve you must of seen a fair bit of Cieslak and he acquitted himself very well and was probably capable of more. But two that I always believed in time with the right aquipment right preparation that could of done even better in the uk were Roman Janowski ( Hackney) Piotr Pyszny ( Poole/ Halifax).

And Ivan was one of the few that really feared the unheralded Jerzy, Plech at that time was the golden boy and was expected to be the biggest home threat.

I still like the star and i still think it is great value and the winter month's edition's for me are still interesting. My only gripe is the front cover i wish they would go back to the old design speedway star and price that's it.Often the star has a terrific front cover picture spoiled by other bits and bob's on it ruining it apart from that it is still lasting the test of time.

Does make you wonder lSteve ,looking back in my progs Steve Jerzy S rode at Swindon in 1971 for Poland scoring seven points can only vaguely remember it though.
-
One thing that did strike me Steve was the aquipment the Russian's had crikey it looked shabby. It looked dated and tired but you could tell as a nation there were a hard / disciplined race.
-
The England side at Swindon Steve was like you said made up of youth and experience Ashby 17, Jessup 16, Davey 16, Louis 6, ( 2 ex in that ) Thomas 5, Auffrett 4, Coles 2

I went to the test between England and USSR on the 27/07/ 74 at Swindon Steve .Vladimir scoring 13pts spoiling Ashby's 18 pt maximum and Valeri scoring 0 England won 66/41 Kuzmin 10pts and the talented Khlinovsky 11 pts also rode.In 1976 the fixture you spoke of the Robins won 47/31 Khlinovsky again scoring 8 pts Victor Trofimov scoring only four pts from reserve they were great events .

Belle Vue Aces 2020

Bagpuss i am pretty confident that Robert is here to stay for the long haul and even in his struggles in the GPS he would of learned alot .Again he even showed in the GPS at times how classy he can be Smektala for me is his main opponent at the moment Drabik is classy and very fast but Smektala really has a racing brain. The race between Smektala/ Lambert at the NSS this year was awesome Robert stalking him yet the Pole rode brilliant defensively at times and just held on.Kubera is odviously very quick but he is one I am not yet totally convinced with in Lambert/ Bewley i am quite hopeful for the future i love watching them both race. -

Lambert has shown at times that he is not miles behind he just needs to add more consistency and maybe juggle his squedule a bit.Smektala is the one i think that has pushed on but Lambert/ Bewley have real talent and they can be around for a long old while with a bit of luck of course.Going back to Dan now that Max is not about this is a chance for Dan to be the top home rider at the NSS hopefully then bringing more confidence on his away performance's. -
Poole Pirates 2021

Has anyone got the first option on Maurice Brown Steve for his longterm future plans.? Quite away off i know but it soon creeps around as i found with Connor Bailey. I have followed his progress closely and all of a sudden he was over here for Glasgow/ Belle Vue he looks a real talent. -
I was sorting through all of my Norwich programmes and came across three meeting's that the Golden Helmet match race championship was contested.Did Norbold, Split, Bobbath ( etc go? if so what were there recollection of the races. 11/05/62 OVE FUNDIN 2 - BJORN KNUTSSON 0 15/04/63 OVE FUNDIN 2- PETER CRAVEN 1 22/05/64 OVE FUNDIN. - BJORN KNUTSSON (POSTSPONED)? waterlogged track is this correct ? gutted as i have not got the rearrangement of the match race championship programme.

Poole Pirates 2021

King, Nielsen, , Ellis, , Jeppesen , Worrall, , Macdonald, Hume would that look half decent.??? Going back to the Australian's Cook, Macdonald, Kennedy, Zeleher, , Thomsen, how many of those will average six .? If i had a punt i think Gilmore could end up riding for Poole at some stage and he would be a terrific asset longterm. -

Was there a little falling out with Danyon after being released, ???? also the two you named have also got quite alot wrong in there tenor so far.But i wish the Brummies well going back to Jack if he does not have the NL to fall back on and especially if he is at number 6 it is going to be a tough season.Even with youngsters making the reserves look weaker for other sides there are some real talent out there (i.e.) Palin,Thompson (2) Flint, Bickley, Bailey.Connor Mountain a fine little rider a good example was hindered by not getting extra ride's elsewhere saying that he still did very well. -
He was averaging about 5.70 at home for Ipswich before his bad smash at Poole ( engine seized) .And because he fared pretty well with limited experience that has come back to hurt him in the last two season's because of his average.
-
Totally agree Mac you saw more of him than me but what i saw live and on DVD he certainly has changed racing style wise.In the Leicester v Belle Vue DVD that i saw the track was very rough and bumpy yet Hume never over rode used his head and the results show that by no injuries. As for the Adam incident yes that was a grave error but what rider does not do that in there career and i have seen plenty of Adam over the years and he has had his get offs but you learn from that and move on.Even the great Jason Doyle makes mistakes that is racing split decision making judgements.

He certainly looked on the pace this year and broke the hoodoo and had a injury free year which reflected in his scores. -
Not offensive i just felt your attitude towards Danyon was disgusting disrespectful.Ok if you don't like or rate him that is your prerogative to mock him with Thomas( who by the way i like) was pretty low in my opinion.

I think not good luck then if that is what you you believe Hume last year was one of the few pace wise at his best could beat and be on the pace with Ellis Perks.Good luck with Jack ( not that he deserves a chance straight away he quit!! this year Hume is in a different league maybe you need specs GiveusaB.? -
He should retire a joke that he nas not got Champs spot in the last two years.

Belle Vue Aces 2020

I see the Charles Wright introduction on the Belle Vue tv link and Steve Worrall was also there.I initially thought Steve might of needed a move to reinvent himself but looking at it now Steve has a really important part to play next year for the Aces .I hate the averages facts and figures side of speedway but Steve is one of those riders that there are not many riders on his average that are better than him.I think he can put a point on his average and if he can get back to the level he was at in his WTC year he can average more.I enjoyed watching Steve in his Swindon days stint and i believe he is far better than he has shown recently also he is a really popular team man. -
The average is the problem the rolling average how many meeting's did he have for Birmingham last year 6 then he got screwed over.???? Why would that average be continued from his Ipswich days of 2017 when he badly broke his arm in a Under 21s meeting at Poole.
-
No HUME he is better than both so why does he not get a place at Champs level.?
-
So right Mike if i was Danyon I would be nearly packing it in .
