  1. Col do you think it is possible worst scenario for me that Swindon could lose 1 point on Batchelor , 1 point on Jensen, .5 of a point on Stewart and 1 point on Rowe on there averages.I can't see it hopefully not but it is very possible.
  2. Picking out of all of the three leagues what riders do you think will improve or up there average three selection's from each league. Here goes PREMIER Lidsey - Becker - Bewley. CHAMPIONSHIP. Pickering -- Flint --- Bailey. NATIONAL LEAGUE -- Bailey--- D. Thompson ---- J Thompson.
  3. And you are right Col , he is worth the gamble for Newcastle.
  4. If you are a stats man then both Wright/Silver are pretty similar really. Both reached 5 British Final's ( Silver's decade more difficult?) one U21 world championship final and both won a Division 2 title.Silver though had two division two averages of 10.46 and 10.66 where as Wright had one year only over nine at 9.53.For me Silver underacheived really he was around with Martin Dugard ( class) yet Dugard pushed on in his career and Silver left the scene everyone will have a view but it would be Silver for me all day long.
  5. God what a massive shock , a real racer and a great character RIP Roman. It makes you put thing's into perspective we should all cherish life and try to make everyday worthwhile.
  6. You are joking ? as much as i like James Wright and have always followed his career have a look at what Andrew Silver achieved in his.speedway career.
  7. It is so hard, as a club you want young riders some who might be longterm asset's to progress but you have to think of the now as well.At Swindon we have young Anders i am really keeping my fingers crossed that he can be on the pace but i know Ellis Perks will more and likely swap races at times.A real dilemma and that is the brutality of sport i suppose.
  8. Yes young Flint/ Bickley forgot those two, with the reserves in place as they are it will be very interesting to see who goes at number six.Does the rule state it has to be the senior reserve at number six ? for these youngsters being at number seven that has to be an advantage.
  9. List, Kennedy, Keleher, would any of those. Aussies average 6 in the Championship Ben what do you think.?? For me Steve Hols54 has named the six riders that i believe would interest Poole as a longterm option Jeppesen, Kvech, Hansen, Rew, Hook,Gilmore ( my first choice.).I think Gilmore, Rew,Hook, might do a Lidsey and want to go straight in the Premiership when they are ready.
  10. Totally agree Teaboy i know speedway has always to some exstent been a number's game but Rob's case clearly shows the rules in some cases are not right.Gutted for Hume again he has been unlucky overall plenty of youngsters in the Championship.ie) Kemp, Palin, Lawlor, Thomas, Thompson x2 Rowe, Gilkes, Bailey (ect).
  11. Hume wont get a place now, i actually think Ledwith// Wright both on a four are not great value but i like both riders and hope both of them do well.
  12. Four years plus out of competitive speedway is a long time, as an example Anders Rowe rode his socks off all year yet averaged about 4.27. Admittedly Anders did ride some of that in the top five though so really does a four point average for James look fair? or good value ? i don't think it is.
  13. Totally Col if James had come in on a two and say doubled that figure or maybe averaged 4.50 that is a success. To come in on a four he will be doing very well to achieve that figure i hope he does he could well do a big ask though.
  14. Point taken but he last rode British speedway in 2015 which is quite a gap why isn't he on a 2.00 average.I am actually a fan of James watched him ride for Buxton, Worky, Belle Vue , and the whole of his Swindon spell.and i really hope he does well but it is a big ask for him.As you say Newcastle are well below the limit so it didn't matter but would anybody else of took a chance on a 4.00 average ? I really think the structure of the averages generally needs looking at for the interest's of every club.
  15. Ooop's not to worry eh got excited there.!!!
  16. A great signing and it shows the club's intent can he average over 8 we shall see i hope so i still enjoy watching him race.
  17. I think because of the excitement and anticipation of a new season a late March date would be fine.Personally i cannot wait for the new season to start i would imagine the press day would be in late March.
  18. Will Swindon do what they did last year and open late in April or go early and go back to the traditional late March.???
  19. That is fine then why did he not respond directly to Col's comment he made a statement his opinion a justified one and not mine i had not said anything. As for Danyon he rather smugly teased about Jack Thomas getting the nod and that he was a far better rider he thought that and the management odviously agreed with him.He also never responded to the suggestion that maybe there was a falling out between the two parties after the last debacle. As for the club they are a great club have great fans and it is terrific they are back in our sport as for last this year's team and this year's team building for me personally i have been disappointed but that is only my opinion.Off track the club have been terrific great initiatives for youngsters and a great vision for the future and nothing would give me greater pleasure than Birmingham going on and having a great season.
  20. Not a personal dig at all and sorry if i have offended you, have a look at your two posts 231 i had not even mentioned Hume all i mentioned was about Harris/ Garrity in heats 13/15 being vulnerable.Going back to Hume your opinion of him is valid but i still say after last season he has been very unlucky. He only had 5 or 6 matches last year and has had two years wrecked by injury yet he is still saddled with a 3.19 average should he have a decrease in that.? Because of his average lesser riders are getting chances we know that is the rule but for me that rule needs changing another bad example of the rule is James Wright coming in on a four.
  21. You are a hypocrite though you sing his praises one minute then do him a disservice.Since following Speedway i stick with riders through all times thick / thin and by the way i never even mentioned Danyon in the last post so get it right.
  22. But there are plenty of riders in the Championship that will be better than those two in heats 13/15 especially when the Brum are away.
  23. Totally agree Chunky my overall thought was that he was very useful at Halifax and a real trier he averaged over five twice and the home fans really took to him.At Eastbourne on the face of It averaging 3.5/8 ish looks disappointing but he only rode thirteen matches. Also Eastbourne is not the average place that a Pole would be used to and looking back Eastbourne must have the worst record for alot of there foreign imports a few spring to mind.( i.e.) Ring, Hammarburg, Righetto, Puk, Kafel, Slabon, Columbo, Klingberg, Johansson, Slabon, (etc).
  24. Garrity who i enjoy watching race and is great value never does a full season also he is not that reliable for heat's 13/15. THJ who I imagine won't be cheap is a big gamble i think he is a risky signing Castagna another who many think will dictate the reserve races maybe he will at home but away i think Castagna/Thomas look vulnerable. This side could surprise but there are a few if's n but's in there for me to be to confident.
  25. I thought Pyszny rode only two challenge meeting's Steve for Poole ??? against Swindon scoring paid 7 from three rides and 0 from two rides at the Abbey.
