  1. When you look at this Wolves side for me it has a nice balance to it, a definite playoff position awaits yet some muppets on here are more concerned about the averages.
  2. I think Jason will know within a few weeks whether he has it or not, ER the diehard Swindon supporter had it spot on young Crumpie will not except losing easily that is what made him a champion. My hunch is that he will average over seven mainly because the tracks now are quite technical apart from the NSS and Owlerton. His ability is top notch he has brilliant aquipment a superb attitude and is a complete professional. If he has a full season there is not a chance of him being three points lower than Nicki if anything Pedersen has it all to prove to he will not get it his own way all of the time. The approach Jason should take is not to put to much pressure on himself and enjoy his speedway i for one am looking forward to seeing an alltime top 10 great in action again even though it is a 44 year old version. His battles with Leigh Adams at the Abbey in the 2000s still stick in the mind superb two great legends of our sport.
  3. Going back to 2010/11/12 when the National side was weak and Bridger,King,Barker,Garrity (etc) were all scratching around Middleditch was in charge then. Not that you would remember then , you would have a job to remember yesterday just you carry on washing the dishes for a living until you are seventy what a future enjoy.!!!!!
  4. I personally don't think there are loads of doubts those riders you named, with the riders available worldwide you would do well to get in better riders..The one to seven looks pretty solid if not spectacular and for me they will get in the top four and be in the mix.
  5. The first time i see Danny ride live was in the NL fixture between Swindon /Coventry a few seasons ago and you are right he made a real impression. The meeting was meaningless but he made the meeting got the place rocking i had not seen that happen for a number of years. He scored a 15 point maximum and i went home thinking god this guy has real passion the past day really has shocked me and Speedway has lost a real good un.
  6. I don't understand why people thinking that being two points under the limit is a problem. I like the one to seven for me they will certainly get in the playoffs a nice blend Thorssell , Morris, Becker, Douglas, also will all be better this season.Maybe the only question i have is Broc Nichol i like him and think he is a rider for the future and the Wolves track should suit. The issue is he is a Sheffield asset so if Wolves do the groundwork do Sheffield reap the rewards?.So maybe i would of built a team with Scott Nicholls at reserve i do think all Wolves fans should be optimistic as i do believe they have a decent side.
  7. Remember him signing a couple of photos for me the other year he guested once at the Abbey in the Premiership and he was great value. But he was talking full of life interested in the photos what years they were and he was talking to all the fans he was so down to earth natural.Be nice if a meeting can be held in his memory help his family and show the rest of the nation just how special Danny was to the speedway world.
  8. Such a massive shock was only pulling out a couple of photos the other day that i wanted Danny to sign when he came to Swindon with Ipswich. I will remember Danny as a entertainer he visited Swindon the other year in a NL fixture he was fantastic box office got all the crowd going in his antics.Last year he made the British Final the underdog mixing it he was great value that night with Charlie Wright winning it and Danny entertaining it was one of the best British Finals of recent years.RIP Danny.
  9. Great that Stefan has a place whatever number he is, he has been unlucky with injuries and the numbers game over the years.
  10. Yes certainly the top class ones but it should not be a training ground for the average one.
  11. Well you saying there could be a change at the end of May Skidder says it all really about British speedway and some of the rules.Should you and your club be more confident in the same 1/7 barring injury until the end of the season.?
  12. But my main point is Steve these guys who come in should be good anough to average six alot of them wont. Also with the reserves the way it is looking should be structured that our lads get to ride against lads of there own level.Ok have one Aussie at reserve but to have two is to much.Look i understand teams want to try and put together the best team possible but the National team should also be made to be a consideration to every club and i think young British riders should be given more help.
  13. Still top class and i remember him from the Gjedde era, always pretty exciting to watch and is still well capable of mixing it in the GPS he has a few Danish title's to.
  14. The Aussie's Bagpuss i enjoy watching them all, they are great for British speedway but as you said not at the expense of British riders. Will any of these Aussies really make an impression, for me the level of the Aussies are nowhere near the level of say Fricke/ Holder/ Kurtz.I would say in Gilmore, Rew, Hook, and later on Browne they have some real talent coming through but will they go the Lidsey route when good anough straight into the Premiership if they ever do ride in the UK.
  15. The problem is two of the Australians get a chance to further there career in the reserve berth that is never right in my opinion.Hume before his injuries at Ipswich was averaging 5.80 at home and just under four he was at the level of Connor Mountain. His average of 3.19 is to high for anyone to take a chance at the moment that is the injustice of it all these guys come in on a four.
  16. How does Zeleher and Cook come in on a four yet Hume who had two seasons riddled with injury is saddled with a 3.19 average. He should of had a reduction and this rule could be put in place to help all Brits, speedway is a wonderful sport but some of the rules are a joke.Adam Roynon another example Neil Watson comes up with all those permutations about what average he would come in on he should come in on a two no ifs no but's .The rules in speedway seem to be more important than making sure the clubs put on a decent show for the public making sure the fans go home feeling they have had a good night out.Looking at these Aussies if Josh Pickering who i like and rate has been over here four/ five seasons??? can average only 6.98 i can't see those Aussies averaging six.Zeleher could be the exception i do like him but to average over six is a big ask Poole i believe will have to make changes at some stage.
  17. I know List was not given a chance but are Macdonald, Kennedy, Keleher, Thomson a notch or two down from the likes of Kurtz/ Holder/ Masters when they first came over.?
  18. Adam was mechanicing for a Ipswich rider last season at the Abbey and he looked fit.He said he was waiting for the all clear and he wanted to ride again a real nice bloke good luck to him whatever he does.
  19. Yes totally agree with all of what you say, that is why i was so disappointed that Swindon were not aloud to keep the same seven riders this season.Continuity is very important for me in speedway and the winning side of thing's is not everything it is not as if there are massive great financial gains in revenue at the end of the season either.
  20. The Aussies though often get time in the reserve berths though!!! for me all these Aussies as much as i like them should be averaging six points anyway. It does not have to be a sink or swim situation it is all about the future not just for the moment not everything has to be a dog/eat dog situation.
  21. Totally agree Iron and two examples last year Kemp/Rowe both had to ride in a top five when really they were not ready for that step. Both to there credit did pretty well but it could of happened to other riders and could of ended up being devastating to them. That is where a rule needs to comes into place that is not just about the team speedway side of thing's the National side's future has to be a consideration as well.
  22. Well he can't have anyone better than Scott to help him along can he.I would think Len would be thinking along the lines of Gilkes doing his best in the Championship learning along the way which will hold him in good stead for the future.I think Gilkes main target this season is to establish himself as a NL number one he can do that which would be a great achievement. For these young lads though it is imperative that they have those NL rides to fall back on i hope certain rules in the future always allow that.
  23. A very good prospect not as good as Gilmore in my opinion also he would be coming back from a broken leg a year to early maybe.??
  24. Totally right and the National league now is producing some talented young riders which is great. The next step for the likes of Flint, Palin, Kemp,Thompson x2 Bickley, Gilkes ( etc) is to make the next step which is a huge step to get astablished in the Championship.I would like to see these young lads be protected for a couple of seasons to let them develope no pressure and the clubs to support and assist them in every way. This in the longterm would help our National side it has to surely a rule can be brought in for that to happen.
