A closed shop no Drabik yet, no Smektala, Lambert will get there hopefully with luck.!!!'any fresh blood anytime soon Witcher.!!!! Winning a one off final is harder than just aiming for the semi / Final scenario over a ten round period.
-
But Norbold with him out of the way aged 29 and he was approaching his peak it was was a whole lot easier.Plus Moore had his six year exile as well in which has to be considered.
-
Maybe i was wrong and you have over the years given the riders named credit. But???!!!! Tai never ever won a one off final over one given day has he ? was Peter or Michael ever given that chance to ride in a series.Dress it up as much as you like but the series now is a closed shop needs reinventing becoming boring.

No speedway City until 2021 if we are lucky, really crap anyway be good keep supporting the Gunners.!!!! -
I don't think so but my humble opinion says winning a one off final with no semi final is harder than winning over a ten round plus period.Tai is good but Collins, Lee were no mugs BUT you love Tai Chunky can't say anything against him.
-
Do you ever learn?? Woffinden i quite like he is not an as..h... but Craven, Collins/ Lee there records are pretty good too.Lee made mega mistakes that cost him his career but he still achieved quite alot. Collins could of won three titles if had had luck on his side Craven died aged 29 when approaching his peak nothing against Tai give the riders i have named credit.

Woffinden better than Craven, Collins,Lee, you tell me and explain in your own little way why you feel you know better.???
-

-
Take a deep breath Chunky, don't have a heart attack please .The truth and Fact is do you really know the difference.?? Probably when it suits you.
-
Nothing threw me but you dont like to be challenged do you? never have.!!!!
-
Good old Chunky FACT really dream on in your your own mind it might. Av a rethink Chunky on this post the arrogance of yourself is embarrassing .
-
Both the PC's and Lee never had the chance to express themselves in a GP format Chunky ??? .
-
Great post Shrub Michael Lee when he won his title, Jessup.was the main man in 1980. Lee though against Collins in 1980 that ride won him the title thinking back how did Lee win a world title in 1980 god knows. He got over that really bad injury he got at the 1980 NEC.indoor meeting and he came back and regrouped.
-
Is it sensible really??? i see both sides of the argument do you really think Tai was as passionate of riding for Great Britain as Peter Collins.? No way in my opinion he kept his options open Tai for me in my humble opinion comes behind Craven, Collins, Lee, (i.e.) in my humble opinion he never EVER won a one off final.
-
Yes Split you are totally right Nordin was reasonably hardened, but to go straight in like E.Boocock and get in a top ten was quite a step up the level was high.Going by what Eric Boocock said i sensed he didn't really know what to expect other than he was going to enjoy himself whatever the outcome.

Great point Steve , even though he did not achieve as much as Peter ( he still had a fantastic career) for me as racers there was not that much between them.Chris longevity wise was terrific a great team man and influence and for excitement there were not to many better .His pass of Carter in the 1983 Northern riders championship ( on you tube) was sublime never tire of watching that. Also he beat Hans in the 1984 BLRC when Hans was getting near to being the superstar he was no mean feat indeed.
-
Collins did he ever make the gate at Hyde Rd??? i often think he gets forgotten Garry certainly when Tai is concerned. With a bit of luck he could of won three world titles the thing with Peter was he was around with three legends in there pomp Ivan, Ole, Anders. He took it to them and was on a level with them also he was the most exciting rider to watch in the world.I don't know what has gone on but one of my greatest wishes would be for Belle Vue now to bury the hatchet with Peter and let's see him at the NSS on a regular basis. Was thinking god what would Peter be like at the NSS the track would be made for him he could pass anywhere inside or out.

Speedy Pete won the 1964 Pride of the Midlands at Wolverhampton as you say a tough un and very underrated.I can remember seeing him in his later years in the NL for Eastbourne still very useful prepared the track at Poole for quite a while another unsung hero.
-
Looking back Steve i saw Ronnie ride four times in 1972 he guested for Briggs v Cradley then i saw him ride in the New Zealand v Sweden test ( Mauger/ Briggs missing), The Siver Plume individual meeting and later on in the season he scored 12 points ( 4 wins) and a EF for Wimbledon.Steve you luckily see him ride in the Daily mirror tournament at Cowley ?? when he was unattached i think he rode in a test at Wolves/ Ipswich maybe???? as well.
-
Yes Bruno he got paid 2 from 4 rides v Sheffield then he scored 9 points in his next meeting.I remember him scoring 7 at Swindon with two heat wins and the next time i see him he rode very well in the Manpower at Reading looked classy.
-
Interesting that Steve, as Fundin generally was regarded as the guy to beat.
-
He did fall out with Parker Addio who was known to be very ruthless. But Parker has to go down as one of the greatest promoters in history even though he was far from being Mr popular.
-
Thanks Norbold great stuff, for me Mirac is the interesting one he broke a leg in 1963 at the age of 30 and had a six year exile from the Uk ..He returned in 1969 aged 36 reaching the World final he could of still been in the mix saying that reading up on his modest manor and the way he approached certain meetings i am far from saying he would of won more titles.
-
Bobbath a question for you sir, the mighty five Moore, Craven, Briggs, Knutsson, Fundin. If PC had not passed Knutsson had not retired and Mirac have not had a gap in his career could history of been different.? Hypothetical i know PC was 29 reaching his peak, Ronnie was still a real force and Knutsson had the class to win more titles what is your gut feeling.?? Looking back and i hate to say it but my hunch is maybe Barry/Ove would not have won so many world titles.
