You must of seen Mike plenty of times at White City over the years Steve? i was fortunate anough to see him ride quite often.Have acquired quite alot of the 1983 footage of Michael and it still gives me great pleasure in seeing him reinvent himself after the 81/82 disaster seasons( a great 81 Longtrack victory though).

The meetings that stick out for me were his paid 17 against Denmark 1983 at Hackney he was very good at the wick. Also beating Gundersen at Dudley numerous times ( including golden helmet ( and Carter 4.0 helmet) 1983.Just imagine a fit Carter and motiavated Lee they would of been competetive against Hans/ Erik.Having said that Hans improved when he moved to Cowley really frustrated how Lee,s career ended we all know just how good he was.In a way Steve we were both lucky we both see quite a bit of a young Michael and have good and bad memories that still remain being stopped to ride in the 1984 British Final when cleared of the charges finished his career.

Can anyone give me the heat details of Poole v Belle Vue ( h) and Belle Vue (a) and Halifax ( a) much appreciated can’t be bothered to dig out my speedway stars.Lee that year was very good beat Hans/Erik easily at times also Kenny was sublime too.

For me Ray the entertainment element always comes before the result it should do anyway.A great result for the Pirates against a confident Glasgow side really nice to see young Nathan score a couple of points in which has been a tough season for him.He will learn quite alot from this year he must be tough mentally and i hope he sticks at it.For Glasgow for me Basso and Brennan are key to there season you don’t always know what you are going to get from them ten points between them not really good anough for there ability.

What really struck home to me last night was Danyon Hume alot of Brum supporters on this forum loved him,all of them I respect. He had a few injuries along the way but with Bacon/ Flint was very good for the Brum before Covid great lad exciting to watch .He got frozen out really because of his average he has really come on improved just thinking Brum would be a track he goes back to in the future ?( if open) we will see. -
I don’t know how Poole fans feel but the team does seem to be a unbalanced unit. They were very unfortunate on losing the very promising Basso but for me there biggest mistake was not retaining Hume. Now Glasgow are reaping the benefit of Hume’s year at Poole going back to the team things could still turn they have some very good riders maybe a spark from something will change things.

Would one big league make a difference, ? something has to change that is for sure. -

You could be right but the old National league years ago had riders who could of been full time BL performers for a prolonged period..( ie) Perks, Sansom,Sampson, Jackson, Owen x2 ) Hunter,Sheilds, as examples .For me now the leagues are reasonably close the Prem for me is a poor product something needs to change. -

Surely Sam you can understand why there is negativity as most people know the sport could be in better shape the potential is there.Great to see that clubs are moving on since Covid great really terrific news. But you could see in the Belle Vue v Ipswich fixture crowd wise not everything is rosy in the garden. And as being a Swindon fan why would i not be downhearted as all us fans have been led a merry dance. -

In Britain the thing that has always stuck in my mind Moxey was John Berry..He certainly was not everyone’s cup of tea but he could of revamped speedway in the Uk someone independent but that avenue was lost. -

A shame Cowboy ,i feel ashamed but it does not mean the world to me like it used to.Still see good meetings great and think the buzz will comeback it does for a period but speedway in the Uk is so frustrating. -

I feel exactly the same, if you had told me five years ago i would not miss speedway i would never of believed you.Have only been to a handful of meetings since Covid and with the Swindon fiasco coming to a conclusion cannot see myself going on a regular basis again.I might go to the Poole v Glasgow fixture and get along to Oxford and that is it.I still do my speedway memorabilia and keep in touch with the sport daily but the sport has stagnated and surprisingly i do not miss it anymore.I did enjoy the Belle Vue v Ipswich fixture and it did keep me interested so surprised Gemini that you don’t visit Leicester speedway anymore anyway hope you are keeping well. -
Sheffield Tigers 2022

Bates the promoter what a silly quote he said we expected more from Stefan he had done ok.Allen is a very good rider but he has a bit to prove in my book. -
My favourite programmes are the six BLRC meetings that Briggo won.And a Swindon v Sheffield meeting in 1976 where Tommy Jansson rode in the second half and rode Crash Ashby in the Golden Helmet.Tommy won at Wimbledon , Crash won the Swindon encounter Tommy then won the decider at Cradley.

God why are the averages the be all and end alll . Surely the sports most important aspect is to get bums on seats get people back watching. Speedway cant see it happening to be honest. -

Ippo v Tigers 16/05/22
Sidney the robin replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have followed Anders since his mini track days and have always liked him but not being at Swindon has halted his progress in my opinion also that knee injury came at the wrong time.I feel at this present time Danyon is more aggressive, and more of a racer and i think he is capable of beating alot of the second strings in the Premiership. -

Would you keep Danyon in Falcon 1983 for a prolonged period ? or do you bring back Anders.A tough call are you loyal or do you say Danyon is a squad member and has seized his chance.Personally for me if Danyon can stay injury free for his home scoring alone should stay in the side. -
My main point Panther is it is only weeks since Nigel passed yet people still snipe.Look i was never a fan of the modern day presentation yet all of those named i have total respect for all of them. With Sam we can see what a decent man he is and he is respected by everyone who is important in speedway.
