Riders Who Never Quite Fulfilled Their Full Potential
Sidney the robin replied to steve roberts's topic in Years Gone By
Saw Shields ride quite a lot for Oxford top scoring a max i think with George Hunter against a supporters select 1979?Rick Woods i only saw once at Newport in 73 he could of made great strides Gene Woods i think was down to ride in a Sheffield V Birmingham meeting i don't think he rode Nielsen was very good and can remember American Keith Crisco really impressing that night. -

Really surprised with that Steve really rated King had a nice tidy style his biggest day being third in the WC in 1984 and winning the Overseas Final at Hyde Rd.If i remember rightly he badly injured his knee and was never quite the same rider after.Other riders to mention who could have had better careers Rick Woods/ David Shields. -

We have even seen with Doyley this year an odd blip is possible well beaten in heat 1 at home to Wolves also dropped points at Leicester. This format is harder if FL can get back to his real Monmore best 12 plus everyweek he could be back in business and get in that top 16 again. -

I was not convinced with Freddie when i see him at Swindon but in the first GP he looked very quick indeed.I still think there is more to come from him getting there with every ride some of his lines he rode tonight were superb the last lap in heat 15 he went up a gear nice bloke with it to. -
There has to be another change at Poole surely this side looks well beatable. What is it with some people and Newman all of us who have commented about him quite like him as a rider but Worrall is a genuine No 1 PL rider now.And i maintain certainly away from home Newman will not cope in the top five a reserve at best.

Really enjoyed tonight some decent racing both sides battled very hard great to see Freddie getting back to his best.King,Woryna,Garrity, all got vital points Masters having a field day at reserve a good advert for the sport tonight. -
Steve your club is going along nicely but remember without the other clubs your club is zilch.Ok Ford is decent at what he does, whether he always morally does the right thing that is debatable ok these guy at Leicester might of made a few mistakes but we need these fresh people in British speedway.Lets put it another way stick Ford say at Middlesboro, nowt wrong with it there sorry nothing against the area then we would see how good Ford was.Ford he has done a great job but let's be honest compared to most other areas he is running a club in a mini Monaco.

As a international star Toni Kasper was a bit of a disappointment to me,he had a very good career world finals(ect).See him ride at Swindon a few times and at Hackney and he looked a proper rider maybe problems with the Czech authorities didn't help a number of Czech riders over there career who knows. -

He has been in the top 8 /12 averages in the PL a couple of times also if you look he has had two 16 point totals this year and could of had two 18 pointMaximums if you look back. Not as bad as you make out odviously disappointing but not the mug you you make out. -

How was Lambert not good anough? a strange comment he would of scored 11 pts if it was not for a ef.For me if i was Rosco/England hierarchy i would support and push as much as possible to help Lambert he is the future. If he was a Pole he would get help and support,Lambert to me has the tools and talent to be able to mix it at the highest level in the next five years. Cook is what 28/29? he also is not riding great in the EL every bit of experience Lambert can get will fast track his progress. -
