Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Sidney the robin replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
At PL level most clubs have a few two pointers who are of the same level which is good.I hope Ipswich use Hume/Mountain all year away could be tricky at times but both have bright futures Hume especially.Bacon i believe will find it harder but see him once at Swindon last year and he was impressive. -

Hume/JPB have the potential to be in the top 15 riders in the averages in the NL.Both will do well in the PL and will bring that confidence with them when riding for the Brum. -

That is what the NL is all about giving a talented young Brit a chance.Winning is great of course but the NL should not be all about that it is getting the balance right.Kean has gone to the right club and he will learn alot off of Mr Drury and his record with youngsters is second to none. -

Yes we have had some poor teams 1983 was dire, the 1980 side in my opinion was capable of winning the league. But we underachieved Crump did not come over until August so we really missed him and though Autrey was very good he was not up to his best Exeter form.1980 was a great season Reading walked away with the Bonus and Ashby got one over Wally Mawdsley. -

Eastbourne in a 5/6 year period to be quite honest had a few very poor imports.Slabon,Ring,Davidsson,Klingberg, Hammerberg, Johansson, Ericksson,Columbo,Tuorniemi,Tryvainen to name a few.Saying that they were always a very good home side and Kennett,Preston,Kelly,Schwartz,Woods,(one of my favourite English riders we're my favourie Eastie riders Dugard and Buck in the NL. -

Yes i remember pretty well Kennett i really believed we should of signed him , at the Abbey he was one of the best visiting riders of the early eighties. We signed Bastable fair anough he did become BC but the rumours over those couple of years was we could of signed Kennett/Lee .Steve do you remember Collins/Morton scoring loads at the Abbey just like Kennett/Niemi i think Belle Vue had R/R for a overated false averaged Derek Richardson PC /Mort both took seven rides each i think.? -

Jankowski certainly did "Steve and Sigalos got a 15 point max from reserve at the Abbey on his first visit never beat Kilby though.? -
For me i have crtitisised K.K but for me KK has always been a quality act,I remember seeing KK at a press day for the Robins he was quality a young lad then oozing class. Now Freddie is in front? and again i like F.L but KK could still and has the ability to get back in the series.

Doyle is such a strong character and his fitness and his fitness regime is superb.Might be rusty for a bit but his guts will bring him through, also he has comeback from some very nasty injuries before.
-
Any chance of BIGGING your self up anymore? cringeworthy😅
-
Lisa even you know Chris was not happy last year the EL was his last priority. Now in there career Holder is a level above KK he always has been anyway hence why he is a former WC.KK away from home will he go missing now and again? can't wait to see what happens.
-
Holder now is at a different level to K.K a massive season for Chris he will enjoy his racing at King's Lynn.
-
I would be very confident of a revved up Holder and a FIT again Doyle beating KK out of a best of 10 races at Wimborne Rd both far more consistent KK can he prove me wrong?he has the talent to do so i enjoy watching him ride.

For me Gustix it is nearly impossible to compile top 20 lists for those two era's. (ie) i have not seen nearly all of those riders so to pick by research only is a no/no.I will say though out of those two era's named i would be happy with the No 1s i have chosen 1929/48 1.VIC HUXLEY 1949/68 1.OVE FUNDIN.

Penhall was a ruthless rider don't be fooled by his looks in 82 he was very lucky to get away with that incident. For me i don't blame either rider the rule in place that someone has to go (excluded) is to blame. How the sport was robbed that year of a great climax and IF Carter had become WC would his life have panned out differently.? who knows.By the way if he had become WC he would of been a terrific WC, unlike Penhall who then just quit and from then on the sport has been on a wet slippery slope.

Tony Briggs How Good Could He Have Been.?
Sidney the robin replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Years Gone By
I can remember that bollocking that he gave Tony at the Abbey. But i can always remember Barry saying Tony had more ability than him at the same age huge praise eh Briggo senior is certainly in my top 7 of all time. -
Speedway going with a wife and two kids is not a cheap evening, anyway work and the family have to come first.
