Went to Edinburgh and there was something layed on for Weymouth in a inter tournament we had the day out and later watched the speedway.Biggest crowds come to mind we're the two tests in 72/73 New Zealand v Sweden the Ashby/Kilby testimonials were big crowds to,Keener for his meeting was unlucky the weather was horrendous.Also when Jansson rode Ashby for the helmet and Crumpie v Penhall and Lee were big crowds the Helmet was so prestige then.I wish we had it now the champion against the away top scorer.

No i first went with my uncle he loved speedway and Briggo but i did not go to that GB v Sweden meeting.I can remember the New Zealand v Sweden test meeting packed one in 72 Briggo injured and one 73 Briggo rode he scored 8 great days.Beefy you know more about the size of crowds than me England v USA at Swindon for a few years was jam packed solid massive crowds.

From 1968/69 i always watched from the fourth bend mainly because i got Autographs before the meeting.At that time there used to be a cheap/Dear side i very rarely watched it from the starting gate as the gate that separated the two sides opened at about race 9.

How dare you those Bogs hold fond memories for me😆Mainly because we used to climb the wall where the buses used to park up and aim for the smelly bogs.

Totally right Aces will the Pole miss meetings? i actually think Bjerre could do well he has good aquipment and is fast when he hits the front.From the back and as a racer after all of his injuries i am not to sure.As well myself i don't like the Bjerre/Batchelor type where they are hit/miss i would rather a steady Eddie type.

I prefer the Pole as well a new challenge for him at home he could be a real hit.

Both the Tragedy Carter book and Alan's book were both great reads loved reading them.Made me realise love him or hate him Carter was a hell of a rider and no one can take that away from him.The Oxford semi final i went to it said everything about Kenny a true racer.

Sampson was very impressive for Nottingham riding with Dave Perks.I see Sampson ride for Exeter/ White City/Cradley(in a Penhall side)in the BL cerainly a BL rider very capable

My favourite Newport riders early were Sandor Levai/Graham Plant then later Crumpy/Streety Roy Trigg. Somerton Park i went there one meeting against Coventry in the mid 70s i think the score was 61-17 ??? Bluey the only one to offer resistance.

1983 Midland cup semi final Cradley v Swindon 60-18 a real battering the Heathens were a great side.For Swindon i think Crump got 9 of the total.?If i remember right it was a double header with Belle Vue on first ( i remember Scarisbrick riding) i think Belle Vue scored 21 points.?

Collins even after those horrendous injuries before Gothenberg was still a force.After Cradley he had gone as a world class rider horrible to see.It was horrible to see a great rider look bang average at Oxford/Reading no doubt about it PC broke the Mauger/Olsen stranglehold.

Was thinking eaces 1, did they nearly miss in there era's or was it because PC after his bad awful smash at Cradley was finished as a contender by 1982 Fourteen W.Finals between them two wins and three places pretty good and to think PC only had from 74/80 and Lee 77/83 when they had realistic chances of being WC.

I would say Lee was more talented than PC, but PC over a period applied himself better dont get me wrong Collins was natural superb to be honest but raw natural ability Lee all day long.

With a full BL career how good could Plech have been he was still world class but with regular BL action he could of been even better.I see him quite alot Hackney W.Finals (ect)but it was frustrating not to see more of him along with Jancarz both were class acts.

I first noticed Gollob in 1992 in the U21s where the 1/2/3 were Adams,Loram,Screen he came fifth then i followed his career.He was something different to what i had seen before but when you look back did he underachieve? maybe maybe not.

Gollob when he won the title seemed so relaxed that year.I thought his chance had gone but like Crump he stuck at it and got his rewards.In his ERA he deserves to be named alongside Ricko,Crump,Greg,Nicki people then can decide in what order all down to the individual.

If we are all honest Norbold,with our rose tinted glasses on Wembley was like that.The racing not great but the atmosphere and occasion unreal what ever happened to the wooden benches.?😅
