  1. Still a great read i wish for only one change though, wish they would go back to the one picture only on the front cover..Got a racing post yesterday for Cheltenham, god now that is 2.40 just shows you what great value the speedway star still is.
  2. Sometimes i cant even remember what day of the week it is Steve.😜Hunter was a real quick rider another Aussie who impressed me was Ron Henderson the Diamonds had some great teams then.Off the subject a bit i was sorting through my 1973 Swindon programmes Swindon v Coatbridge Egon Muller rode he scored 0 only rode two matches for them. One of them at the shabby Abbey who would of thought he would be WC ten years later.!!!
  3. At Oxford there was R/R for Beaton who had a healthy 10.40 average and Alan Emerson was out replaced by the reserves who were Neil Barnsley and Greg Dekok Pailor ( who i cant recall ?) was no 8 for the Diamonds. Both Owen/Hunter got paid 21 each Joe was a super rider a great stylist.
  4. Greg Laguta on his day is better than Zagar by a long chalk does he show it anough probably not.
  5. A great post. Lee you know my views on him a great rider Jansson had everything looks a great riding style and his temperment was very good.In the 70s Crump,PC.Jansson Lee, were the young ones who to me could take over the mantle of Mauger,Olsen,Michanek they did not quite do it.
  6. Knew he won it Iris have a photo somewhere,Ashby filled in for the Dons after Tommy's death did a great job. What are your memories of Jansson i know it is hypothetical do you think he would of been a WC you obviously see the Dons in the early seventies.
  7. I have never in my time ever seen Crumpie desroyed like that at Swindon Lee was on fire. That performance i would say was up there with Lee's 2.0 win at the Shay against Carter.Going back to Tommy Jansson Jansson beat Jessup 2.1 (he had a ef) in the helmet then went on to score 15 points and win the Marlboro Southern Championship. His last meeting as mentioned was at Halifax i can remember being at school and hearing about his death a real shock it was even in the national papers.
  8. I cant remember Iris if Tommy even won the Laurels ? i do think the Marlboro Southern Championship could of been his last meeting.I remember him facing Ashby in the Helmet and Jansson winning the decider at Cradley.I often think could he of became world champion from 76/84 certainly yes also three of them would of been at Gothenberg.
  9. I think in 76 Jansson won the Marlboro Southern Championship and also i think the Laurels.??
  10. I am a big fan of Auty but i have to say S.Worrall, Garrity are the top BRITS at there level at the moment.
  11. If he is commited a future no 1 for years to come.
  12. Was his last meeting at Wolves in the Olympique individual meeting.?
  13. Yes counted Steve i only see Jansson ride six times,To think he could of been a mega player in speedway until the late eighties we were robbed as fans.
  14. Thanks gustix great stuff all 1965 Swindon home fixtures filled in now.
  15. Wonder if anyone has the result of this meeting and heat details need this for my collection of the Swindon 1965 season.
  16. Oxford v Newcastle 1983 Rod Hunter/Joe Owen both scored 20 out of a total of 49 Dave Younghusband was the team manager Oxford then were woefully weak.
  17. Also both will be up against the likes of Ayres, Shanes, Grondal,Wajknecht so these reserve clashes should be vital.
  18. Is there any chance of getting the Dons racejacket with Jansson on it? looks superb.
  19. Is there anyone who thinks it could be to soon for the young reserves?I believe they will cope well i hope so we have some young English talent coming through now and i hope they can all push on.
  20. I think King would of been a great signing but he would of missed quite a few meetings.Fricke Cook Worrall Sedgman Bjerre Bewley Smith a nice looking team exciting as well. When i look at this side then you look at Swindon's I fear for Swindon.
  21. I would say that Justin did quite well away from home, at home not so good but i will say the Swindon track has not been good for quite a while in my opinion.I am a fan of Justin and i wish him well i hope he has a great season for the Aces the ability is there.
  22. Yes he reached the 79 world final was used to big Polish tracks yet he ended up at Arlington strange.
  23. Believe me Sedgman is not mediocre if he clicks he is decent is he as good as J.Holder/Kurtz certainly if he puts his best foot forward.
  24. Yes i can remember that over a period Eastbourne had some terrible travelling teams. ie) Slabon, Ring, Klinberg,Hammarburg, Richetto, Johansson,Columbo that class of import.
