  1. Totally i like young Rathbone hope he progresses in his career
  2. Very disappointed Rathbone has left a strange decision.
  3. You make some great points i first see Kennett in the old Conference always liked him even enjoyed watching him for Swindon.I would say for a youngster now starting out is alot harder than then though.Kemp's riding in Australia really impressed me and his riding at Belle Vue has come on in leaps and bounds was really involved on the pace in the U21s WTC and showed his progression in the British Final. His main strength i believe is his character he really seems like a really level headed lad willing to listen and work hard fingers crossed for him.
  4. That is a shame sure you will have some input along the way hope so anyway.
  5. The bottom three mentioned were never good anough, all of them to my knowledge had decent aquipment injuries/ circumstances play a huge part in that would say all of them were unlucky injury wise.
  6. Brennan showed in his few outings with the Robins that he is flexible coming from the homer Arlington to the Abbey. He was on the pace very much so he also beat Woryna/ Jackobsen Tom being on a bigger track will help him.Rowe i like very much but Brennan for me is in front of him like Dugard is not a one trick pony and will do well with luck on his side.
  7. Yes that would be great that Tsunami just let me know i will have to travel elsewhere for a few meetings as Swindon is not available? What are the plans for the likes of Archie, The Mcgurk brothers and other up and coming youngsters.??? Are you going to be connected helping out hope so hope it goes well and some of those lads can move up the ladder.
  8. Hi Tsanami for me we have a few lads who are getting there, Rowe i have watched and followed from the mini track rides at Swindon. He has done mega well want him following in the tracks at Swindon ( if the they run????) moving up following Kilby, Keen, Holloway! Hewlett, Rossiter , Chessell, and Smart be great that.Kemp has improved very much loads in my book did well in a top five at Sheffield when really he should of stayed been aloud to stay at reserve he got replaced punished badly in my book.Brennan i like see him beat Woryna at Swindon he was decent also see Palin in two junior meetings and on tape at NL level he looks classy great style.
  9. Great rider read the book nice bloke mega talented.
  10. I hope Lewis can comeback with a bang the best of luck to him.For me the most important thing for Lewis is to enjoy his speedway again if that happens he can do well.
  11. Malcolm Holloway and Graham Jones were two others maybe at a lower level but so be it.Chris Louis also gets forgotten he had bad injuries and came back and rode at a decent level ( below his best).
  12. Brennan who i have followed closely since his younger days he rode on the little training track at Blunsdon. He showed real talent in his few camio performances for the Robins three years ago and has something about him Palin also is a nice longterm prospect he will be a regular feature at the NSS a really exciting rider.
  13. A different scenario but seeing the demise of a young Martin Hewlett in 1982 it was a huge shock totally out of the blue really shook me up.For me yes a dirty rider seemed a clear view but some of these posts have made me maybe think about things differently.
  14. Lovass for me was in the Knutsson / Penhall,Autrey, mould they all knew they would not be around for ever and none of them were ever tempted back.
  15. He was very good rider Garry no doubt about it Steve for me he was like Dag Lovaas. Was Lovass better at Reading or Hackney/ Oxford or was Garry better at Hackney or Oxford ? For me Dag at Hackney. -------- Garry at Oxford.
  16. 3.2 to Briggo Steve in 1972, league meetings only one of those wins for Barry was when Garry guested for Reading so really 2.2 .
  17. Did look through the head to head meeting's Steve ( guest bookings as well just team meetings) Briggs v Middleton 1969 / 19 72 _____ 13 wins to 5. Ashby v Middleton 1969 / 1973 12 wins ------------ each.
  18. That was after the heat 11 incident Steve?? Briggs/ Hitch refused to start. The Cheetahs officially won 80/75 on aggregate i have the programmes .I also remember Middleton beating Briggs in heat 1 in one meeting and Oyvind Berg also surprisingly Mckinlay/ Middleton scored a 5.1 over Briggs in heat 1 in another fixture tense meeting's.
  19. Rode with his dad at Hackney on the 27/04/73 remember that year well remember Martin riding in second half ride's with Bobo Valentine.1973 that year sticks in the mind because the Sumner McKnight venture did not come off and without Briggo the year was a long one .One good memory though was Swindon thrashing the Cheetahs in the Midland cup.
  20. Terrific footage Hyde Rd was a special place out of all my visits i can only remember it being dry once .!!!! My main memory probably was Carter winning his BLRC titles and Ivan's farewell meeting also the wet 1983 BLRC sticks in my mind with Erik winning it and Lee beating Nielsen in a run for second place.
  21. Great figures strange how when his average had dipped the following year he often put a point or 1.5 on his figure again.Langton and the New Zealander Ron Johnson are two great riders who often get forgotten.
  22. His run off with Van Praag in the 1936 world final was a strange affair.!!!
  23. I wonder what Langton's average was at Hyde Rd ?he often gets forgotten.
  24. Definitely Duggan Chunky, the speedway public were robbed of seeing just how good Farndon and Craven really were a crying shame .Jack Young and Ronnie Moore for me would also be in a top 20 riders ever in history.
