  1. I would imagine winning a World Title at the revered Wembley stadium would be as hard as anywhere in the world .The noise the expectation i take my hat off to anyone who won a WC in London.
  2. I first see him ride Steve in a second half race when Swindon were looking at Louis Carr /John Williams both Ellesmere Port .Also i can remember seeing Steve Regeling in these races as well he went on to have a good career.
  3. Those iconic pictures of Peter Craven stay with you superb balance i did get to see Peter's son Robert ride . Did you see him ride for Wimbledon/Hull at the Abbey.?
  4. A big shout that Red i don't think many would agree with you on that one i am like you i rated Carter very highly as a rider.
  5. If Newman had a run at reserve he would be ok but how many people would be confident of Klindt in a top five.?
  6. Ford shows that he does not quite understand how some of the Poole fans feel alot will be unhappy with this move.I like Starke but in the top five it is a tough ask for him i feel for Newman not a wise move in my book by the Poole promotion.
  7. Even if Tai wins more titles i still would not place him above Craven ,PC, Lee maybe it is bias though😜
  8. Farndon, Huxley, Duggan,Craven,Knutsson are the five i would of loved to see ride. Also i only see an old Wembley version of Ove (Briggo beat him again!!!!! 😀😅 would have loved to of seen him at his peak.
  9. That would be great you better ask "Gustix first !!!😀😅
  10. Williams has to be high up but i didnt include him i only went back as far as Craven . It might seem silly but i think winning a one/off final maybe could of been harder than winning a series.Hence why Loram is low down ( great rider still exciting to watch as anyone in history) a one off final was a different pressure . The reason i have Lee so high up is his record against Nielsen,/ Gundo he held his own and after he self destructed those two went on and dominated a decade. Really interesting that Red, and Grachan has a great point in the word Longevity means alot .
  11. What order would you have these five great champions in.? Craven ,Collins,Lee,Woffinden,Loram - here goes - 1./Craven 2./Collins 3./Lee 4./ Woffinden 5./Loram.
  12. My favourite three Swindon announcers/commentators were Graham Guthrie,Bob Radford, John Sutton but Dave Lanning was the level/benchmark that no one ever reached .
  13. I have it also and a big acton photo of Soren signed when he had yellow leathers.
  14. He did well to get in that side a great group of riders around then.
  15. Another point was Carter was not a team man out for himself to be fair to him he rode in some very poor Halifax teams ( still miss the Dukes)After everything for me Carter/Lee had the beating of Hans/Erik at times and from 84 to 90 for one reason or another the sport was robbed of there rivary on the track .
  16. I rated him highly as a rider but i can always remember him saying something about Phil Crump after he was beaten by him at the Abbey in the pits and that stayed with me.I think Mike Lee said something that has some substance he felt Carter was a dangerous rider unpredictable.PC and Lee were great rivals and had some great duels over the years but there was total respect and trust between them as riders thats something Lee/PC never had with Carter.
  17. Great times and riders the 1975 team that rode at Norden are my favourites .I know i did not see Norden at its best in 1983 but i really liked the track i still have not got over Mike Lee not winning his second World Championship.
  18. Was there alot of stuff you learned about Carter in the books Steve.?
  19. Is it opposite the Cold Harbour?😀do you know if Branford is riding ORLOV? do Sheffield get priority .
  20. Such a shame as i have enjoyed all of my speedway books over the years and would never ever ger rid of them.Keep up the good work Tony Rectro have done a great job and still are. The two Carter books,Mike Lee,Tommy Jansson and Booey books are my favourites great value could not put them down once i started reading.Out of interest Tony what was the hardest book to produce ?
  21. Agree a joke of a rule why are refs so interested in catching riders out get the tapes up for god sake again it spoiled the meeting as a spectacle and certainly cost Pawlicki a semi final spot.
  22. Zach scored paid 11 from four rides and a promising 7- paid 9 from the young Anders Rowe.
