  1. As much as i liked Per i dont think when he won it it was anywhere near as tough a era as some of the others named were in.The others named even 1970/76 Sweden were very very strong indeed saying that i do believe Jonsson would of won another title.
  2. Ray we had Mike Keen, Clive Hitch , Barry Duke none of those were world champions. But they are still remembered fondly even now they all had affinity with the fans that means something.Your club had Pete Smith Tony Lewis x2 Middleditch all Poole through and through that has gone missing in speedway now.
  3. Loyalty works both ways remember that believe it or not some fans do have a affinity with certain riders. Obviously you have never had that so you would not understand.
  4. I really felt he could of won in 75 but the Russian Trofimov pushed him into third place in his first ride and that scuppered his chances.I think his temperment was superb a great style and the Reading side with Michanek,Lovass Curtis in it was some team.
  5. Really liked him "iris a real talent exciting world class when Lee had self destructed he helped Lynn in those few years to replace him.You are a longtrack buff how would you rate Michanek in that sphere.? Michanek is certainly up there in amongst the greatest riders i have ever seen underrated in my opinion.
  6. Sjosten was a terrific rider Sjosten, Lofqvist,Nordin,Nygren, B.Jansson Persson, all deserve a mention.I saw quite alot of Jonsson he partnered Holloway at Reading at times he was a talent.Hagonshocker another forum nut 🤓 also saw alot of him he always liked him have to say at the time Jimmy Nilsen seemed to be rated higher.
  7. Sweden five great riders with endless other great names missing. - (no order ) Fundin. - Knutsson - Rickardsson -Michanek - T.Jansson. here goes. 1./Fundin . 2.Michanek . 3.Rickardsson. 4.Knutsson. 5.T.Jansson.
  8. Not shocked at all does it make it right ? it has been going on for donkeys years now it is likely to happen even more than ever now with the rules/ averages in place.By the way have you ever woken up you dumbass.😂
  9. Are you saying this is the norm riders throwing points away if so it is very worrying. We know the sport is in the rubbish but now with these pathetic rules and averages in place it now is becoming a joke. All i want to see is a 1/7 team do its best and entertain us not fanny about just to make another change when the new averages are out.
  10. Who are the teams in the yet to be rearranged National league fours.?
  11. Why would Morris give away point money ?a crazy statement if so why didnt Morris go wide and let him through on the inside?Kennett had to take huge risks to pass Morris also didnt Morris try everything to pass Nicholls in one race.
  12. God ORLOV" Kennett really took bend two wide how he did not get sucked into the fence before he passed Morris god knows. In the first running before Robson caused the stoppage Kennett got really out of shape entering bend two that bend is a major challenge for any rider except Doyle.
  13. In your book it was and you are entitled to your opinion but was tonight that bad.? i have seen some meetings with no passes all night.Tonight the Kennett v Morris race was decent in itself not many riders pass Morris when he hits the front at the Abbey.
  14. I have watched loads of crap over the last few years tonight was not great but i have seen worse.Where you puzzle me is Orion you kill me off the other week about entertainment/winning you get your win tonight yet you still MOAN!'!! your memory is not the best see a shrink.😀😀
  15. I dont think you watch loads of GP riders in this league what a strange comment.!!! Tonight was a ok meeting Batchelor decent Kennett one amazing ride to get Morra from the back and Nicholls, Robson, young Perks busted a gut to be competetive was it that boring not for me it wasn't.
  16. Has he been practicing at Kings Lynn ?? welcome back Rohan amazed Belle Vue did not go for him.
  17. Was it that much more bais than the system now ?
  18. I think tonight could be a close encounter and us being inactive recently ( an understatement 😙. ) could make it close.I think around a 6/8 point home win Zach who has been excellent this year is the key if he can chip in that should swing it.
  19. What a shambles ORLOV " be a good move to get Rohan back thought Belle Vue might do it.
  20. Apart from Greg Laguta i would say the GP series has the best line up it can be but at times i do find the series boring the same riders every two/three weeks. Riders like Lee/Collins got pushed on far quicker than riders can now because there were more opportunities then.As a example Bewley this year was not given a semi final spot because of his average years ago he could of still qualified from the quarter finals. And lets not forget Woffinden a double world champion never even qualified for the series he was given a wildcard so luck still plays a part.
  21. Are you aaying the GP series now is virtually a closed shop?
  22. That is what is so good about these subjects,it is all down to personnel experiences and piecing them together with the facts of there race record. My take is and my uncle told me this as well he believed if Craven had not passed on he would of won at least one more WC.Also at Hyde Rd Craven really took alot of beating and his record against Ove was very good there.
  23. Swindon produced quite alot of riders who had decent career's at different levels. From Holloway ,Hewlett(bless him) Rosco, and had a huge part to play in the Smart/Chessell speedway families careers those second halves are sadly missed great days. I thought you had a soft spot for all of your area WK?😀 i once had a great weekend at Whitley Bay in the 80s a great laugh.
  24. Correct WK he rode for Leicester and also Exeter and your beloved Middlesborough in the old National league i liked him as a rider.Saying that i have enjoyed watching all the Aussies over the years the Aussies who never went on to greatness but were very good. Jim Ryman ,Rod Hunter,Ron Henderson,Steve Baker,Mark Fiora Rob Ashton (ect the list is endless.
