  1. I was a massive Ole fan even though he did stuff Ashby bigtime at Coventry once which i was not happy with.Olsen, Mauger, Simmons, Adams for me were four of the most stylish riders in history Olsen the way he rode made me a fan.
  2. Could be right Steve 😀 i know Mike said on his dvd that he really had annoyed Ole and Ole said vaut are you doing Michael!!!! 😜after that i think they became good friends.
  3. I think Lee clashed with Ole in that meeting if i remember rightly.??
  4. I expected 7/800 but the crowd was half decent for a person to shell out 47 pound just for themselves for the three meetings is quite a ask.I would love to have a home meeting everyweek i have really enjoyed the busy spell roll on Monday i hope the Pole rides for Leicester??? probably not.
  5. Yes he did but Lee had a great head/head record against him which always pleased me just shows you if the 1983 version of Lee was around for a few more years what he might of achieved.?
  6. You are right but i still believe Auty is the better rider ie) his record in British Finals and getting there is better. But you are right a change of track will do him good but in a way it is a vicious circle Auty getting confidence with big home scores should show in his away scores.11/13 and from his last two away meetings (flattering i know) and doing well in the premiership he certainly has turned the corner in the last month.
  7. Spot on salty Wayne Brown was a very good rider he did have a business i know he was delayed one season a very talented rider could of been very good.
  8. Howarth this season has been terrific done well in two leagues he certainly has improved Auty for me when on it will beat Howarth more times just hope Auty can have a consistent last couple of months of the season.
  9. Won again but tonight showed that speedway in Britain is in real trouble all the Somerset riders tried put on a show. Was a ok night but all i want is teams with a regular 1/7 who turn up everyweek not to much to ask.Swindon missing Zak that could really cost us i hope not but a special mention to Doolan tonight was great value can still gate like a longdog.
  10. I was a big Briggo fan but all what you say was totally true and he was 30 years ahead of his time so professional took the sport to another level great man proud to have seen him at his pomp.
  11. I would say Steve, Nielsen up until 85 had riders who beat him regularly ie)Lee,Carter, Penhall, Erik, with others like Knudsen,Sigalos, Morton, Sanders Moran IVAN never had that only a handfull if lucky beat him.
  12. Mauger i believe was the better league rider and i believe he rode in a era when there were more top class no 1s and most teams had really good no 2/3 riders.Did Ivan average 11.74 one year but in later years that figure was changed ??? Nielsen was a great rider and at times in his Oxford career he took the mickey he was to good ((Apart from Erik who had his number).😜 My memory is good generally Chunky' but sometimes i have a few blank moments old father time EH 😂 Kennett was brilliant at the Abbey i think we should of signed him instead of Bastable i did hear Gordon won a veterans event the other week and looked good and is still very fit.
  13. Forgot this but it just came back to me in 1980 at the Abbey in the KO cup Gordon Kennett scored a full 21 point max and Kai Niemi scored 19points also. Those two scored 40 points between them out of a 46 team total , cant remember exactly maybe D.Allan would know.? Swindon rode Belle Vue a few times in the cup 1981 i think ????? Collins and Morton scored heavily Belle Vue were quite weak then they operated R/R for Derek Richardsson who was on a crazy average i think Collins got 19.?
  14. I am a big Doyle fan i want him to be world champion he should of been champion last year but was unlucky. But because i am a Swindon fan does not mean that i agree with everything he says or does.As a team rider he is not in the same league as Crump(sen) and the brilliant Adams Ashby as well was easilly a better team rider he needs to look sometimes last year he cost Sedgman quite a few points.
  15. I am a massive fan of Doyle but he should be careful what he says ie) his injury record is there for a reason. Also he has not always been at the level he is at now and his team riding skills at times are non-existent.Not the best of meeting's great crowd the track had took alot of rain but had the odd decent race but these days at the Abbey racing does get very strung out.Kings Lynn really impressed me dug in were totally commited and if Lambert had got a few extra points they could of bagged a point they deserved that,Jorgensen again impressed attacks the track certainly around the hairy bend 2 and really is progressing nicely Auty also put his life on the line.He nearly pulled off a great move around bends 1/2 but was shafted bigtime maybe a retaliation? to the Jonasson/Morris incident that was a tough incident to.
  16. From 1978/86 went to alot of away meetings like yourself had a good wife who let me slouch off whenever i wanted to.Those days for me were superb never forget them loved the Northern trips as well feel lucky that i was around in that era and got to see a young Michael,Lee great days.
  17. Did you get to see Ivor Brown or was he before your time "bruno? Boulger and Persson were my favourites (1972 still hard to forget though Wembley) i also liked Andrews ,Gooddy,Trigg, and later Dave Perks. Then the glory days arrived Gundo, King were my favourites from that great era.
  18. Great rider great man enjoyed watching him very much really exciting to watch but for me his main asset was that he was a great team man loyal to the hilt.
  19. Carter Qualifying at the Oxford semi was some occasion never forget it.
  20. In 1977 Michanek scored 20 out of a 37 total. with R/R for Persson with Price and Bastable the next highest scorers on five points each.I think the year you are on about "bruno was in 1973 the score was 39-39 the Heathens were 38-34 up but Hunter and Stangeland got a 5.1 against Persson in heat 13 happy days.😂
  21. This Swindon side even without Zak who is a loss if they are all on there game are capable of thrashing anyone. I know it sounds crazy but this Lynn side for me has more of a chance of putting. up a fight than your very poor Poole team.
  22. Wenger ent done to bad has he.?? won 15 ????? trophies in 21 years and help build the Emirates in the meantime be careful what you wish for is the old saying.
  23. Thanks Sue you provide a great service without the updates most of us would be knackered if you are ever DESPERATE i will do it at the Abbey but Orion is your man a total professional .😂
  24. Not kids of course my point was could some of these make at the minimum very good Championship riders ??? Hopwood is a brit older but so what done ok.I dont expect any of these to be GP riders hopefully be Championship riders with the odd jem thrown in CHILL dont need to be aggressive😂😜
