Mauger and Olsen for me technically were the best riders i have ever seen Leigh Adams also comes into that category to.Mauger had everything really a great gater could come from the back and his temperment was superb. He also was a great team man just so pleased that i see him at his peak he would of loved the GP series format from 68/79 he would of took some beating.Over that period i think only Olsen, Michanek 73/74. Collins 76 Lee 79 would of got near him a true superstar in my eyes.

Great post , i thought it was great that Barry,Ivan,Ronnie got on very well you dont often get that when you are all going for the same goal.Briggs was a great racer not the greatest of styles i just wish i had seen him in the 65/70 period of his BLRC dominance at the great Hyde Rd.
-
Nielsen was a great rider and i was never a fan but he grew on me he had his disappointments but he got over them and got stronger mentally he was very good.Penhall,Lee,Sanders,Sigalos,Carter were on his wavelength at the 81 / 83 period but for whatever reason they fell by the wayside. Olsen whatever you think of him is often overlooked he could match Mauger at times and a youthful Collins and later Lee and for me as a three time World Champion was a GREAT

I like that foamfence Briggo in front of Ove !!!! i have been filling out a few programmes from the 50s and Ove see off Briggo quite alot the 60s was alot closer.
-
I agree totally Steve, Nielsen and Jason Crump i would rate above Ricko but his six titles had to have him in the list.
-
Out of these five greats what order would you place them in ??? Mauger , Briggs, Fundin, Rickardsson, Olsen my order would be. 1.Mauger. 2. Fundin. 3. Briggs 4. Olsen. 5.Rickardsson.

Most of the time Nick had to fend for himself in those heat 13/15 heats Doyle out for himself hopefully with more responsibility he will kick on. All Nick needs is a bit more consistency the Bellego comment is baffling from Shovlar you have faith in a rider he does well then the next year you dispell with his services.Bellego did drop off form wise but he had a great year overall his aquipment and attitude is spot on so i dont see many unproven riders who could replace him certainly with this one 8 point rider in place. Most teams will be pretty weak at reserve but Zach will be ok certainly at home but if our top five do the business we should be able to pick up the slack sometimes from the reserve berths.
-
Speedway needs characters and Batchelor is certainly different, but at Swindon there are still supporters who like him i certainly do.Also he is familiar with our club which is an advantage also now with our top five in place he is not expected to be a in/out no 1 or 2 now as long as he contributes and the team do well he will be fine.
-
Really !!!!! would i trust Orion's view or Rosco a no CONTEST to be honest Batchelor with a watered down league makes us field a healthy top five with a talented young rider in the reserve berth so i am happy with that. Rider's that really improve your team are pretty hard to come by at the moment your club should know that as you now will do very well to field a better and proven top five than the Robins. Also another point that was mentioned is if Batchelor fails badly and let's Rossiter down he will be replaced.
-
You dont bother me one bit to be honest, just a shame you dont do Poole speedway any favours in the long run often giving people a stick to hit you with.
-
This post is the sort that all the good and genuine Poole supporters hate i dont class you as a proper supporter you are not a true reflection of the Poole fans i have met.
-
I actually think Batch can up his average by a fair bit, Rossiter also has a good record of getting him to perform and at home when is on it he can mix it with anybody.Away could be a different ball game at times in the season but the six we have named in this watered down league i am quite happy with at home we will be hard to beat.
-
Clegg,Ayres, Sarjeant ,could they be in the frame for the no 7 berth? i dont know what the rule is could Tom Brennan be available to ride or not on a 2.00 average.? probably not there has to be a rule.!!!
-
Happy with that welcome back Batch!! a very strong top five and Zach will be fine certainly at home. Away there could be a few wobbles along the way but i think we can make the play/offs.
-
Great post and speedway has made me meet some great people over the years and make some great friends speedway has so much going for it .This forum has shown with there concern for Mike that we have a terrific speedway cummunity and fingers crossed Starman is back well anough to watch his beloved Pirates come the start of 2018 season.
-
All the best Starman.

As long as the Abbey stays open i am more than happy with that, a new stadium does not worry me that much.I was worried maybe the Abbey would eventually be demolished and like other great venues be a part of history cant ever imagine Swindon never having a speedway team.
-
I remember seeing KK practicing at the Abbey before he got injured he looked terrific he is so frustrating to watch now and you would tear your hair out everyweek.I think the side with KK in it looks a bit stronger but myself i would prefer Batch and put extra faith in Zach at reserve.
-
I think Robin the Premiership should be 12 pound and the Championship 10 pound. now that the Sky money is not there ( higher than BT ? ) can clubs afford to do those 10 pound offers now.??
-
Because now the gap is closer than it has ever been, unless clubs move up in the next few years one big league has to happen.
-
I just think Woryna is a different rider now,as long as his aquipment is decent i expect a big year from him. Also with his granddad's tie to the club he will be highly motiavated.
-
Going by other teams reserve's Zach will more than hold his own and riding in the Championship as well will really help him. With Batch in that does look a strong top six i wondered if we did not have a few Thursday night fixtures could Danyon Hume maybe have been an option.? .Unlikely i know also coming back from injury and him then doing three league's is a tough ask.
-
I actually dont mind Batch also he is good value on his average and we all know on his day can beat anyone.Could Rosco go another way say have two five pointers rather than Batch would we be a stronger 1/7 then hard call.
-
Just a shame Liam Carr has retired because he aquitted himself very well and he could gate. The last position is going to be tough to fill interesting now to see how Rosco finalises his team.
-
I think if we sign Batchelor or someone of the same ilk we will be looking good Musielak for me can do better. He can still improve certainly around the Abbey Adam, Zach will improve but the biggest thing for me is some of the other teams with there line up's hardly scare you.
