  1. The best three sides i believe are Ipswich,Scunny,Sheffield.
  2. I look forward to seeing Chris ride again and i think he will get an ok reception at Swindon i hope so anyway.A fresh start for him we all make mistakes in life so let him move on hopefully he will get back to the form that we all know he is capable of.I think Chris wants to stay low profile concentrate on his racing and enjoy his racing again.
  3. Are you on the weed ?? total nonsense would Matt need to remortgage i think so let's get real.
  4. Vaclav had some great years with Exeter and with Autrey they had some very good sides a massive home advantage at the scary County Ground but it took some b...s. to ride there week in week out.Exeter over the years had a great association with Czech riders i.e.) Holub, Verner, (Vac and Jan,) Dryml,Kudrna,Svab jnr) i loved my visits to Exeter.
  5. What do you suggest hire Cardiff for the day!! at Swindon i believe there is a cut off time to postspone if not they still have to pay rental.? Even in our good old British summer time there are cancellations and how many times are the weather forecasts wrong anyway sometimes you just have to take a chance.
  6. Horrible news,Vaclav was an in/out racer who everyone enjoyed watching race RIP.
  7. Yet late March was always the point for me that speedway got started for me anyway you are right Crump99 you have to be realistic.Speedway it is so tough now you have the World Cup/ euros to compete against in the summer some forward thinking and planning needs to happen interesting to see if it does.?
  8. Yet when you run later in the year against the World/Cup/ Euros etc) the gates are less and do any of us know what the weather will be in the future near impossible.
  9. This is the guy who said Speight was in line for a C spot ?? a total wind up merchant Scunny to have a good season will do better than Sheffield i believe.!!!!!
  10. It has to be good real forward thinking was Dent Oliver years ahead of his time ? his passion was producing young riders. It does not necessarily have to be British riders any nationality if the club produce young riders how that has to be good for the club. Also like Hyde Rd the track is that good that riders will want to stay long term and that creates a position where you can keep a core of a team most years.
  11. I certainly think Lemon is a big Max fan also he likes Brady as well both i believe can go far in the sport if it all clicks Fricke can be a in/out no 1 make the step up just like Thorssell.
  12. I have never heard of that Steve , Middleton not getting on with Airey , Middleton was a real character a lot of people liked him he was a massive personality he was disliked also big time..But Gary was very good rider borderlying world class and i was a fan he mixed it wtth Briggs/Ashby/ Kilby and at there pomp and he did pretty well.!,!,
  13. Totally agree i have heard if you go to Polish clubs you learn a lot certainly on the mechanical side it has to be invaluable really learn something it has to be good.!!!
  14. Have that programme Steve Australia v Poland a really good line up Boulger,Airey,Curtis, Monk for the Aussies Plech,Zancarz, Mucha,Jerzy S. one ride got injured and Henryk RIP who scored 3.
  15. A really iconic picture that , i do remember the Cowland/Wilkie incident the picture shows everything how Wilkie was so angry ready to do damage.Speeedway in those days was so intense GENIUNE riders who rode there hearts out for there clubs riders do it now of course but it ent the same.Funny thing was i was thinking in that match the visitors had Ray Wilson and Johnny Boulger on there side who were hardy shrinkling violets two real tough riders.
  16. I think he broke his vertebrae in a crash after the meeting Ray , if i remember rightly i think he was going to replace Rossiter.?.?
  17. Things have not changed to much have they Webby that decision to give him a five year ban would never of stood up in a court of law today.Such a shame also Mike did struggle to get his head around the new tape rule but he would of adjusted he just had so much frustration that he give up with the sport. That British Final day i was so angry he had his bikes loaded ready to go but they changed it to a 1 year ban the crowd there that night were bemused.I remember there had been a huge petition a real outcry from the public and i thought the ban would be overturned and maybe changed to a suspended sentence.Going back to Kings Lynn to have Bettsy then Mike for that prolonged period must of been a treat as for me personally Lee on his A game was one of the best riders i have ever seen.He used his slim frame to great affect and the partnership with his dad very influential the gates Lynn used to get then must of been right up there with the largest in the U.K .A real shame how his career ended by the way when you look back his WF record is very good indeed.
  18. He was pretty good at Ipswich !!!!! ok not great on the man made tracks grant you that but as a rider he was better than the three named in my opinion and i would still rate Craven,Lee,Collins in front of Woffinden.Again back to he won more championships argument, rating somebody on that criteria i am personally against it in my time watching speedway Gollob natural ability wise is there with Lee,Ward.
  19. Lee at the age of 16 to be a number 1 in 1975 for Boston in a really tough N.L was some achievement.Lee I was a fan of right until his career went scu wiff.Gollob who only won one World title should of won won more titles he had mega ability i actually rate him higher than Pedersen,Hancock, Woffinden people who have won more titles people might laugh but everyone to there own eh.!
  20. Going back a few examples of riders who were great servants to there clubs, Collins,Morton,Wilkie,Sjosten,Haley,Wyer,Wilson,Lewis,Smith,Thommo, Boocock x2. Betts, Paulson,Broadbanks,Ashby,Keen,Kilby, Adams,Karlsson.Missed out endless other riders certain riders then just seemed to be part of the furniture but they all had huge followings really miss that now.
  21. Speedway in the day when Alan rode were terrific i loved the team racing aspect of it teams had riders like Alan who cared about there club and were long servants and the fans could identify with them ending up with a real affinity for them.Today the sport has totally changed on its day it is still a great sport but in a different way in those days i never even cared about individual racing team racing was my thing.Looking at Alan's record in 78 he had really upped his game going great guns and no doubt would of stayed at Belle Vue for the rest of his career really wicked what happened he will never be forgotten in speedway circles.
  22. Only see Wilkie ride at the Abbey 1972/77 i did see him ride in the 75/ 77 British Final's he was a great team man an underated rider.I hope he and his family are keeping well and he always will be remembered as someone who loved Belle Vue and speedway i do hope he can get to see the Aces now and again.
  23. Steve Lawson what a rider he was Mr Glasgow for years he was a quiet guy just like Dan.It must be great having someone in your corner who was a very good rider seen it done it and has bags of experience also having them there as a friend as well must be great.
  24. God what a cheesy post i will just go and get the sick bag.!
  25. I actually believe Bewley having a great home track will help him when he moves up the levels and he rides the bigger tracks abroad. The biggest attributes he has are that i believe is he is a very level headed character he has a hell of a racing brain and has a very good temperment i look forward to supporting him through out his career.
