Matt Ford complains about Assets
Sidney the robin replied to DC2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
This year has shown me that sometimes you can try to be to clever when building teams going to much on averages.Go by your instinct when i think Poole could of had Kurtz,J.Holder,Andersen,Woryna, Shanes,C.Holder( ok warranted problem with Chris) and another that side looks far superior to the one now.All Matt had to do was sort his issues out with the Holder's and welcome Kacper in with one more rider makes you think. -
You know better than me Aces but that is one thing that Dan needs to do gradually upgrade his aquipment easier said than done of course His bikes i believe are not the best and a lot of his points he scores are because of his skill and ability.Look i am not for one minute saying his equipment is shabby but it is a expensive sport and it takes time to build your team up and get a great package together to really push on.Even Robert Lambert said ( who has two great parents who back him to the hilt) that he is at least two years off at having a fighting chance in the GP arena so it is tough even Tai showed that in his maiden GP year.
-
I think that is where you have it wrong, he is not exceptional at the NSS he is very very good of course exciting as well but as Aces 51 pointed out his home average is 7.85 ( I thought it was much higher than that was at reserve for a bit as well) 7.05 away.He holds his own as well away from home really well and is learning fast we shall see in the British Final how far he has come he has a real fighting chance again great experience for him.

Personally Steve i don't so much go by age more on what there background and experience is Burden/Hume two prime examples older but not that more experienced than some of the younger riders.Bickley I think will come good he has good people around him and if he learns has he goes along the tide will turn.Looking at the future your suggestion looks ideal most teams with the same ability wise 6/7 riding against each other and maybe pitching in against a number 2 and 4 would be great. I would love to see two Brits at reserve only if promising anough though.

I cannot for the life of me know why Klindt is getting two meeting's he is a gating tart so frustrating to watch and Poole at this moment in time need battlers riders to roll there sleeves up.Auty was mentioned he rides hard for every point apparently a problem with his average now god knows why??? god damn rules so annoying.Ellis Steve you said he was quick he has been very quick at the Abbey all year and would have an higher average if not for mistakes and letting points slip.Adam is a great asset for the Robins and i believe he will be a in/out heat leader within two years.Going back to your meeting Bickley really struggling for points in the Championship and Burden chipped in with a few. Burden he looks like a very good gater which is a massive advantage if he keeps at it he could improve in time.

World Championship Pairs

Total crap as usual Cook is struggling in the GPS warranted but unless you are Stevie Wonder surely even you have realised that Lambert has been superb this year. -
It is not easy to do it on a big track like Belle Vue and to come from the back regularly which Bewley has done also Bewley is not good at every big venue he is still learning his trade.Lakeside is not an easy track to ride but Bewley generally has done ok on the little tracks Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leicester, (etc) today put it down to another learning day for Bewley.People sometimes forget just how inexperienced he is plenty of riders have had nightmare meetings at Lakeside in the past and plenty more will do in the future.

Look at your next 8 fixtures blue you are well capable of winning six of them if you fail basically you are just not good anough.Out of the riders mentioned Thomsen/ Wozniak would be good signing's but i don't see you getting the pole and is there any point replacing riders like for like.
-
If Josh gets an average that is really low maybe? that shows he is on the down slide his mistake i believe was not doing the Championship.Next year on the same average there could be better options out there.

Jenkins has a lovely riding style and he will go on i suppose another factor we have to consider is there education will come first so they might miss a few meetings. -
Team Suits and/or Race Jackets
Sidney the robin replied to steve roberts's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
In my day bloody hell i am old i loved to see riders show there own personalities the leathers often showed that. The biggest five for me over the years were Ivan, Booey boy Blue, Red devil Broady, Alan Cowland and as always John Davis now John Davis would be great in this era a real showman great with the younger fan and was always professionally turned out.People think the 70s/80s were backward times but the monkey mask went black leathers went and new helmets come in which at the time was massive.I think this myth about the sport being miles behind the times is nonsense the main thing is get the PRODUCT right (i.e. the entertainment factor and the racing. -

I hence your last sentence a terrific idea and you are so right about the experience factor young Flint has rode abroad a bit great experience for him .Where as an a example Hume/Burden both 21 started at Rye House straight from moto cross have not really had that much racing time so there are different time scales to each different rider. Each rider is different some can gate crash there way through the system some are slow burners but the future looks good i am hopeful.Kemp Flint and Hume are my three that i really like also forgot young Jack Thomas another talent. -

What meeting were you referring to Doctor??? i know you were a huge Todd fan. Also another question Doctor when did you see the real progress from the terrific Per Jonsson? i see a lot of Per from 84/ 89 then stopped going to Reading.Per had a lovely riding style rode a lot with Malc Holloway i knew he would be good never thought he would be World Champ though thought Gustafsson might get there before him. -
I think after your win last night your post was proved correct looking at it how many away wins have there been away not many. Also Swindon are a very strong side at home a terrific top five with great backing from Zach.I do think Somerset are in the mix for fourth spot with Lynn,Poole, all to play for.
-
I think Thomson is a very good shout very classy, young Lyager to could be an option i don't know if he is quite ready yet but he has talent i thought Scunny would of got him back to replace Nielsen.

I am not a fan of Glyn's either ( nothing personal Glyn!!) Phil Crump was eliminated from the WC in the Aussie round after Crump had a notorious clash with Billy Sanders.Crump had scored 12 but got excluded wrongly Glyn Taylor got 13 he got asked to stand down but he took his place in the Overseas Final and was outclassed. -

Out of all the young riders so far Bickley seems to have found it harder than anyone which is really surprising but he is still young along time to still keep improving. But there is real hope for the future riders who can get to at least full time Championship level minimum.Kemp,Flint,Hume,Brennan,Jenkins,Edwards,Parkinson Blackburn,Wood,Brooks,Burden,Mountain,Kinsley,Hampshire,Rowe,Powell (etc) -

I am with you Daniel Andersen should not keep his place if you are going to persevere with somebody Bailey should be in.Just like young Greaves at Wolves they showed faith in him and he is steadily improving i don't think Andersen would average 6 in the Championship. -
But Holder had been long talked about as a talent just happened that Poole signed him.A bit like now in Aussie List, Gilmore ,Brown are all talked about as the next generation coming through whoever signs them are those who give them the best deal.
-
Why was Jenkins at the celebration meeting then? Kemp i think is destined for Ipswich as a Brit would you trust the Poole promotion to give you a prolonged run? A great example are Ipswich they are going to stick with Mountain/Hume as they should because both of those men will be good riders in the future hopefully Ipswich will reap the long term benefits of that.
-
Get all the NL fixtures up they are available and you only have to find about three away dates go on updates everything is there.God if you go on updates and went through every club away that would take you five minutes tops.
-
Not offended not one bit makes no odds to me but do you not think you were a wee bit disrespectful to those two riders.?
-
Do you think a mixture of say five good riders with two talented Brits maybe not all Brit's? could it work Steve.? Would the youngster say have two races against his opposite 6/7 and maybe against a number 2 and 4 not easy to organise i know but for me it is an exciting thought.Just think Poole as a example Holder,Holder, jnr),Kurtz,Woryna,Sundstrom,Jenkins,Brennan.
