  1. Auty for me is a better rider more reliable rides his balls off every race he certainly is better than Garrity in the Champs this year. Garrity is good but if you have Six meetings in a month can you rely on Garrity to ride in all of them NO is the answer.
  2. Great post and Knutsson i believe he was a real threat to anybody.I never see him ride but for me he is like ( Penhall ) could of really been a force in speedway long term both had a longterm vision apart from speedway so the public missed out.
  3. I never see Craven ( wish I had) got an autograph from my uncle handed down in pencil that is prized would never get rid of it.Moore Mirac was a class act i think I see Ronnie ride four times.People forget he had that lay/off off six or seven years but was still a class act on a par with Barry/and later Ivan.
  4. He was not far off Wealdstone but did he have other interests business wise.
  5. Peter obviously loved Cowley Steve , because he won the King of Oxford trophy in 1961 and 62. He also won a WC round at Cowley in 62 with a 15 point max.The meeting you referred to was a Oxford v Provincial league select 09/05/63 winning 2 -0 v OVE and the times were amazing how different? ? heat 1. 63.0 - TRACK (RECORD) heat 2 - 63.8.
  6. How good was Fundin around Hyde Rd Ove? i always had the impression it was not one of his favourite tracks.Saying that his results show he was still pretty damn good there when you name Ove, Ronnie, Peter, Bjorn, Barry what a special era that was a golden time.
  7. Looks a terrific racetrack i wished i had of gone there it was before my time. Interesting reading the 1961 head to head results between two of the greats OVE and PETER. It was 7. - 7 overall from league, International, Open meetings , Scratch finals. Golden Helmet, Challenge meetings. OVE did beat Peter 2.0 at Norwich in the Golden Helmet though and he also won 2.0 at Belle Vue i bet they were great duels.
  8. Nothing really has changed in todays speedway in yesteryear when there was a monthly average change a number 2 or 4 would often change with a number 6.Therefore always giving them at least one decent reserve Cradley if i remember rightly went the other way often being top heavy. There reserves were often pushed in the deep end ie) with the likes of Gledhill,S.Collins,Reid,Garratt(rip) everyone to there own in the way they want to assemble a team that is what makes it special if you get it right.
  9. Now if a team gets promoted into the Prem it can budget to get relegated and still make a profit also there is the parachute money to fall back on.Leeds as an example when the inept Peter Ribsdale was at the club chased the dream and paid a heavy longterm price.Football in the Prem is in a pretty good financial place at the moment.Going back to speedway was SKY to blame for the demise of British speedway no is the answer. For me the day John Berry was refused the backing of the speedway family to be the new supremo ended any chance of the sport prospering again in this Country.
  10. The names you named plus Collins,Michanek,Olsen,Lee you would like to think from the year 2000 in there pomp they would of had a chance of winning title's.All hyphaphetical i know all about opinions but Moxey is your opinion blinded by your love of the one- off Final??I am of the same opinion as you and the Series is not a love of mine i prefer team racing but i do respect what the Series has done for the few???I agree with the 10/ 15 year period on judging and Tai is probably only after Ricko/ Crump in the modern day pecking order also when Crump retired those bad burns he received were the reason. In the History of the sport Nielsen and Crump certainly deserved to have won more World titles.
  11. Lambert??? did he once break-down coming back from Newcastle for the Semi- Final ???
  12. Are the Poles like the German's ? ( Germany did it in football) if they don't like something they just don't go vote with there feet other nations just put up with it.
  13. Lambert really has impressed me this year i was worried last year that his career might just end up petering out.Over the years i really thought Mel Taylor,Mark Courtney,( etc) could push on but none of them ever managed it and in Lambert we can see what a real talent he is.His next step is to keep his focus keep working hard and with the great help of his Mum /Dad build up his aquipment he will be ready for a assault on the World stage in three years time i believe.
  14. A great debate for another day but my take on it would be a PEAK Collins would beat a PEAK Woffinden in a best of 20 races. My theory on this is that PC could actually gate on a level par with Tai which over the years was a Collins weakness. But the deciding factor would be that Collins had the ability to come from the back he is by far the best rider i have ever seen in that department.
  15. Yes you are right we can judge Tai after his career has finished Collins is certainly the best International team rider i have ever seen ride Craven, P.C, Lee, Tai, for me are all special in there own way. I suppose it is best to judge them on your own personal experience of seeing them ride ( unfortunately i never got to see Craven)
  16. A great post spot on about Tai/England but the greatest rider we have ever had? i personally would not agree with that but he does have a great case.
  17. This year Auty has been better than Harris at Championship level and the riders in that group can all beat each other on one given day.Lambert,Cook,S.Worrall,Bewley for me are easily the top four riders we have alongside Tai.Cook is the one that has a few question mark's to answer even this Monday in the British Final he is not the favourite a big night for him.
  18. Great day for British speedway well done Tai, Lambert was immense really showed his class he can now kick on in his quest to gate crash the World scene a proud day.
  19. Was it just great riding by the Scunny pair or was it a poor Lindgren ride ? for me Robbo lifting decided the race it changed the race completely. Robbo lifted Auty came underneath him and then got the speed on the outside to make a final charge great race though.
  20. I cant wait until Monday i get back from holiday just in time ,a great track a real even looking line up and a added bonus to see Steve Worrall back.My heart says Lambert but i have a feeling he won't win it for me Lambert,Bewley,,Schlein,Cook are the front runners with endless other spoilers in the meeting.
  21. Can anyone put a stream on for the Pairs please ??? thanks.
  22. The NL now has some real talent riding in that League a mixture of all ages with some great youngsters coming through.Who would be your top ten riders in that league here goes ( no order) Morley. - Hume.- Mountain.- Roynon.- Bailey.- Flint.- Kemp.- Bacon.- Brennan.- Bowen.-
