RIP John . -
Last night as a team they were not good anough on the night end of .Anyone with half a brain would have been happy with that first leg lead.Forget Danyon do you not think Emil/ Doyley could of taken some of the blame last night? they were under par for there mega ability. No i wouldn’t because they have been outstanding all year. Hume , Rew, Thompson x2 have rode there balls off all year but with a top heavy side this side still did very well you need to get real.
-
Roger you know nothing., Etheridge was it Laurie Etheridge you were on about?…….. get real. This year was in a top five Danyon when Rew should have coped all year he was inconsistent and frustrating but won the witches a few matches with vital points and vital points at crucial times.Dunno what planet you are on not easily pleased me thinks.

Going back to the match really like Danyon Hume as a person and as a rider. Was so frustrated for him he made loads of mistakes cost him money he gave everything was unlucky .Hopefully next year on a low average he will do a good job for somebody. and improve what i like about Danyon is he can gate and he can mix it as well and race to.He could be a slow burner but he has real qualities can race can gate and be brilliant in front of a camera.

World pairs champion with Simmo in 1978 a great achievement to be even picked.
-
Puts everything into perspective Norbold it really does Gordon was one of the fittest riders i ever saw ride God bless him RIP Gordon.
-
Steve for me Gordon, Kelly, Martin,D ,Boogaloo, Woodsy were the best i see ride at Eastie .But hand on heart ❤ would just edge Gordon in front of Martin and Kelly. Gordon was a terrific servant to speedway and i always wanted Gordon to sign for Swindon the year Stevie B joined in 1981 it never materialised.

1980 at the Abbey sticks in my mind Gordon scoring a. 21 point max and Kai Niemi scoring 19 pts out of a 46 Eastbourne total.
-
A terrific rider and a extremely modest guy RIP Gordon.
-
Hope you are well chunky like Steve Roberts both take care.

What about Teo at Swindon the much missed pole. ?

Ipswich v Leicester May 25th
Sidney the robin replied to Arch Stanton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I wonder if Danyon can get his physical problem sorted, Richie said that to take six/ 7 rides in quick successsion is hard for him because of a lock arm problem.Hence he would of scored 11 points but for a fall but he has been excellent and he can keep improving his scoring at Redcar is getting there so that is going to benefit Ipswich. With Danyon at the moment you actually have no idea what he going to do so if he can get more consistently he will keep improving he certainly has shown he has grown into a Premiership rider.Being a nice young bloke and a really exciting rider to watch makes him easy for the fans to relate to because they 100 per cent commitment all the time. -

Why should Rew ride at reserve.? He is better than that he will be in the future anyhow. -

I really believe Hume has a place in the top league like you said he took loads of chances before crashes (ect) he has got better on a bike.Hopefully at Redcar he can up his game to ; Rew will be decent he will get better with laps and both the Thompson twins i like think they will get there eventually both when I’ve seen them there are not great gaters but they will be ok.Going back to Ippo this year King is the most important rider can he consistently back up Doyle/ Emil. -

Rew, Hume, Thompson should all improve as the season goes on and this team is not the finished article yet. Those three tonight chipped in with 12 points between them so not all doom and gloom. It baffles me that Hume gets expected to score more points in a very tough position how many people expect him to beat Fricke away from home….? Keep the faith with Rew as there is a good longterm rider in there and Ippo will get the rewards by persevering with him exsperience is key for him. -
Dag was awesome in that meeting was Dag like Jan Andersson used to riding on frozen lakes.? I always feel that Dag was like Scott Autrey retired to early he was a class act for Reading , Hackney and Oxford. The heat leader trio of Anders, Dag and the ever improving Geoff Curtis ( RIP) at Reading was very strong. .

Michael Lee scoring 16 against the yanks in 1981, coming from the back regularly. Rolf Gramstad holding off Ivan Mauger for Swindon against Hull.Egon Muller riding for Coatbridge in 1973 ( he was poor) Reading mullering us at home in 1984 Holloway/ Glanz from reserve doing the damage. That Reading meeting apart from the Mike Keen benefit meeting were the worse conditions i ever saw.The World team cup round at Reading and the 1983 BLRC Belle Vue rival those two meeting's also for horrendous conditions.

More memories from the Abbey Finn Thomsen scoring 19 points for Wolves on a oversized engine…. Dennis Sigalos scoring a 15 point max for. Hull from reserve ( never met Kilb). .Einar Kylingstad scoring a 15 point max from reserve for Kings Lynn. Ivan Mauger having a police escort him out of the stadium after fencing Kilb.. Briggo coming back with Hull scoring 11 points after being excluded under the 2 minute rule in heat 1.

A little mega dramatic from Tomlinson that Doris, about us being the Man City of speedway., We have also had some very poor teams over the years which makes the success even more special. The results were not the be all and end all for me generally the racing was decent the track sometimes was not prepared in the good old days as well but overall was very good. The England v USA test matches were special and the reshaped Abbey in the last year produced excellent entertainment. That really surprised me that track it had a few different lines on it and Doyley and Razzer were my two favourites great days.
