Was at the Joe Owen Benefit meeting, Ellesmere Port Past & Present v Inter League Select which ended up a 39 - 39 draw, Boxing Day 1985. This was to be the last meeting at Ellesmere.

A reprimand, who from? He failed to undertake one of his duties under regulation 02.2.12 f. As an official he should have been treated as a rider would have been had he committed a very dangerous offence. I would assume he, as well as receiving a reprimand, has also been reported to the SCB for them to take action.

Why was the Starting Marshal not removed from the meeting when he failed to collect the tape stabliser from the track? There is precedence for this when a similar thing happened at Workington a few years back.

Hope it is on as we are flying down tomorrow.

Meeting Off

Cook was there. Was told Pickering had removed his bikes from pits before meeting was called off.

Travelling from north of the border I've already had 2 rainoffs at Plymouth (Glasgow & Edinburgh), just wondering if it will be 3rd time lucky on the 29th, when Edinburgh are due to visit, or if I should give it a miss.

Not the case. Word from the pits was that it was to be 3 riders only, hence reason Clerk of the Course went to tapes to get Wood to leave the tapes after he suddenly appeared on track. The Edinburgh Team Manager had sent him out it appears without speaking to the CoC. Referee can only work on information passed to the box.

Unfortunately Caydin Martin withdrew with a broken wrist. Didn't get the paperwork until late so too late to announce.

And Edinburgh are in two leagues and have two NJL teams. They also have probably the most restrictive timings for meetings where engines can only run for 2.5 hours (7.05 - 9.35).
