  1. Classy, Speedway fans mocking other Speedway fans about the decline of the Sport in this country affecting their club
  2. His average is massively inflated but its not to say he wouldnt be a useful acquisition. If his cost is as inflated, theres no way he'll be a lion. If they refused to shell out for Doyle last season and pay Masters a decent wage this year, I doubt they'll start now
  3. Interesting Idea, although IPL and BBL are not the only cricket competitions in those countries. They're separate tournaments for the shorter format of the game, but are fit into the calendar alongside one day and first class (4 day) cricket competitions. If British Speedway were to take your approach with a month long competition of possible franchise teams, they might be able to do a 4s competition. If they could find the right days of the week to attract some GP riders over and encourage some of the big boys back to britain... it might be possible Edit: this would coincide with, not completely replace the elite league. Might however, get a few fans (new or old) into stadiums if promoted well
  4. Wonder if Zengota has been contacted. Seemed keen to ride in England this year, might have an inflated average... but Wozniak and Walasek have falsely low averages. Zengi and Kenneth Bjerre... wouldnt look overly exciting and would lack an obvious, big hitting number 1 rider but would leave you with 4 riders who have the capability to be reasonably strong heat leaders. If Bjerre could find some form it might compete to not be rock bottom!
  5. I wouldnt be disheartened with Bjerre at 5 (although, he'd start as a second string behind Wozniak). But I'd be concerned if he was the number 1, our main heat leader that we'd be reliant on. If we were to have a job share between 2 premier league double uppers, id be extremely disappointed if Simon Stead wasnt one of them
  6. Still might not happen. and it depends why the riders were avoiding the elite league. If they're happy to job share but didn't want to ride here full time, theres a chance.
  7. So, realistically, a change of night and the potential to job share positions (now that Lakeside have announced a squad system). Do we reckon this could entice at least a couple of riders to job share the number 1 position? If we can just get the number 1 slot filled with someone worthy, I still wouldnt be disheartened if we had Wozniak at 5 as I think he'll do a very good job now he knows the tracks. He got better and better as the year went on last year. Still struggling to see any riders that might actually want to ride at 1 for us though
  8. Exactly, highlights just how bad he was!
  9. Swiderski was arguably one of the worst riders Ive seen in Lions colours and that includes the 'cubs' that used to have friendlies against MDL opposition! Think he pulled onto the centre green more often than finishing his races, was with us about half the season and cant have won more than 5 heats. Started as second heat leader, ended up being carried as 5th member of the top 5, often getting beaten by whatever weak reserve pairing we had out that week. That being said, I dont think he ever really wanted to ride for Leicester and I think there'll be a lot more effort with a Hammers crest on his chest
  10. What reports of what squad members? I think a change of race night is probably more likely than pulling out of the league
  11. Finally some good news for Leicester fans... Piotr Swiderski won't be a Lion next year! (Signed for Lakeside as 1 of 6 of their top 5...)
  12. Not as much of a concern with this reserve pairing. Wouldn't be as hopeful if we had lambert and a guest at reserve!
  13. 2014 season we signed steady after a broken leg and he was brilliant for us. He's already back to full fitness, working in the gym with a local boxer. The only question mark would be over the psychological aspect, but he's overcome injury before and I'm sure he'll do it again. Yeah, I agree with that. and it's the only reason I can see that we haven't signed steady. But as you say, with such a struggle to get anyone, I'd sooner have a bloke that we know would give 110% for most of the meetings but miss some, than someone that wouldnt give his all but would be there all the time
  14. Simon Stead wants to ride for the Lions... I know it'd initially mean him starting at 5, but if Wozniak eventually went up to 5 and Stead down to second string, I'd be relatively happy. Then just get anyone of decent strength at 1... 1. Someone of heat leader quality- Madsen, Larsen, Sundstrom, either Laguta, Protasciewicz? 2. Wozniak/Stead 3. Walasek (captain probably?) 4. Klindt 5. Stead/Wozniak 6. Auty 7. Starke If we can get the 1-5 good enough to stay in meetings, that reserve pair can win us meetings. Might not overly excite the masses, but would at least be a half competitive side IMO
  15. Brilliant that they're making these track alterations... would now like to hear which fellas will be riding on it every week! Wonder if they've made any more headway in that department, because they seem to be keeping quiet on the riders front. Credit where its due though, they're finally taking to social media to tell us something, even if it's only the track developments- it's a start!
  16. My exact thoughts. If he's willing to ride in qualifiers and SEC, it shows a willingness to race on a saturday night. Id rather have a quality rider like larsen available most of the time, but needing R/R a few meetings, than a bang average rider there for all meetings
  17. Larsen doesn't have the GP's like Doyle did as well
  18. Would love it. Would make the Lions a very competitive team too. Whether or not either (let alone both) would be available for a saturday night track (and how often we'd lose them to SEC/ SGP qualifiers etc) remains to be seen
  19. Oh we have plenty of points left. probably enough to fit Emil and Hancock even... but just because we can, doesnt mean we will. Not that many riders left that fit the bill as heat leaders and are available/willing to ride in the elite league. Kenni Larsen is a name thats been banded about by a few on here for a few different clubs... wonder if he might be an option. Sundstrom possibly too?
  20. Wouldn't be surprised if thats 1 & 4 or 5 riders. Can't realistically see us adding two names that will be more succesful in heat leader role than Walasek. Think Im anticipating Wozniak being a heat leader either at the start of the season, or pretty soon after it
  21. Just like to say, Hemsley gets a lot of stick on here, but he should get some credit where it's due. He's listened to the fans, riders etc views and is now paying for the track alterations to be made. Lets hope its succesful.
  22. I know, but if you can't be optimistic before it goes wrong you never can be And tbf, Wozniak and walasek averages are both below 6, which are probably false averages
  23. Once again, people are pointing out Leicesters team could look weak in last years elite league. 1) how many times have we lost meetings at reserve? Our reserves should be a bonus this year, not a hindrance like the past two seasons 2) walasek, Wozniak and Klindt haven't let us down before. Be nice to try and add another two that want to ride for the lions (like steady) 3) all teams are weaker than last season. The league isn't as strong. If we can build a team a similar strength to others, maybe, just maybe we can improve on the last few seasons
