  1. Interesting idea MikeBV, which in theory would be a good one.. However, I think it might disgruntle some fans and we might get a lot of people suggesting that riders would possibly be lowering their averages approaching the 'transfer window'. For example, half a team might deliberately pull up so that theyre average is lower, so that management can replace someone with a considerably higher average...
  2. Thanks Daytripper, thats cleared up a fair bit! (still quite a lot in the clouds though). Dont see why it should be up to you on the Lakeside section of a forum that only a small percentage of speedway fans across the country use to let us know what's going on and not our beloved BSPA! As for your squad, I'm still waiting for Bridger and Morley to be announced. Does that total 11 riders or have I miscounted? One things for sure, Lakeside are the most ready if it turns into a football league instead! Might get the fans in more...
  3. All the best synchronised swimmers are only interested in Poland anyway
  4. I'd have thought the back to back race nights was a good idea regarding travel costs and riders wanting to be over here. Thursday's and (non gp) Friday's would probably the best option. The main issue will remain in riders wanting more money than the clubs can pay. Unless we're able to convince riders to ride for a more realistic match fee, I will need convincing that it's the way forward... I do however, know for a fact that Saturday's have stopped Leicester from building a competitive team! Hopefully a fixed race night might at least allow us to not cause ourselves problems in team building!
  5. Paddys injury was a nasty one.. Don't think he let us down. But his signing isn't exactly inspiring. Strength at reserve is big for us. Don't think it'll be long til Wozniak is a heat leader. Destined for another wooden spoon battle I fear. Won't stop me getting down to support the boys as much as I can
  6. Poole fan? Don't think that bloke is a Speedway fan!
  7. A Dane that doubles up might push Norrie over the edge!
  8. Norrie 'doesn't like danes' (then signs and sounds like hell captain one)! Who's your thinking Phil?
  9. I'd take Wozniak over Bjerre any day of the week... Wozniak is on the way up and is hungry to improve. He got better and better as the season went on last season and seems very keen to represent the Lions (which not many riders seem to want to do- although Simon Stead has made it clear he'd have liked to). Kenneth Bjerre might not be the strength of rider at the top end we need, but he's probably the strongest of anyone that might be half interested in racing for Leicester Speedway in the 2016 season.
  10. Think walasek will don the metaphorical armband
  11. Didn't stop us signing Klindt. I think Bjerre would rather ride saturday nights in the Elite League, than not at all in England
  12. In theory though, they said teams could have 2 tier 1 riders provided no other side selected them. Starke probably wasnt as strong as any of the original 8 tier 1 riders, but now our reserve pairing has 2 riders arguably stronger than both of Covs and Lynns reserves
  13. Any more insight into Ulameks intentions with regards to the duration of his stay at Leicester? Or on who the final member of our septet might be?
  14. Ever considered making a career as a fisherman? Think you've had a decent haul!
  15. Roo boy tweeted that the stars race suit 'has a kasprzak feel to it'. Is this some sort of cryptic insinuation?
  16. I think it's the sorta rider worth taking a punt on. At the very least, he's shown a lot of commitment to british speedway and i'd love for us to have some consistency in a lions septet. Results seem to have improved when we've had the same 7 riders together relatively frequently. His performances have been disappointing of recent years, but a little more responsibility and a new environment might eventually help him find the form that made him a GP rider
  17. The safe bet would probably be Kenneth Bjerre, I'd have thought
  18. If he's over the age of 40 he's more likely to sign for Leicester. We've gone with experience over youth this year!
  19. If you got all the way down to the apology, you must have read the post Don't worry, I don't take much notice! Yeah, fingers crossed the track changes make a difference in the quality of the racing. Fingers crossed the final signing is someone that'll at least do a job... Keep hearing Andre Compton mentioned. Wouldn't be overly enthusing! Compton might fit in to Phil The Ace's grandad team!
  20. Presuming Kenneth Bjerre is the final member of our septet.. Im going to play devils advocate and suggest it wouldnt be the worst team in the league. In Ulamek, Walasek, Wozniak and Bjerre we'd have 4 heat leaders capable of beating most, if they ride to their true potential/ find some much needed form (Kenneth!). Wozniak especially will come on leaps and bounds, improved with each meeting last year and having 2 experienced poles to guide him wont be a bad thing. Nikolai Klindt has proven before hes a useful second string in this league. If he continues with the 8+ home average he had in 2014 at Leicester itd be a real string in our bow, and whilst I dont expect anything near that, it shows the potential he still has to score points. Some of our riders are being branded 'gating tarts' (When we've changed the track to try and prevent this!!!), but surely, that means they have a reputation of getting to the front and winning from there. Ive said it before, Ill say it again... Its a lot easier to win a race when youre already in front of everyone else! And I believe, in Auty and Starke we have either the best, or second best, reserve pairing in the league. (with the possible exception of Poole). If our top 5 can keep us in the meeting, these 2 can and will win meetings for us. If this 7 stays fit and actually commit to racing for leicester speedway (Dont do their best Ljung, Bjarne, Mads or Michelsen impression) then they might (im definitely not saying they will), just might, at least compete in most meetings! And yes, its probably a daftly optimistic view of the current situation, but if you cant grasp at the smallest slither of hope before the season starts, you sure as hell cant if things dont start positively! I for one will be down at Leicester (or wherever the Lions are racing) as often as possible, provide transport and my other commitments dont get in the way too much... Hoping theres still a chance for a race night change, speedway always clashes with my cricket. Speedway season starts next month, Cant wait to get sprayed by shale and smell methanol again. Come on you lions! (apologies for the length of the post!)
  21. Lets hope in terms of veteran riders he's got Walaseks attitude, not a certain Bjarne Pedersen...
  22. Looks like it may have been the lions that have yet to pay Doyle. He's just tweeted his displeasure at not getting paid, insinuating he was promised money in September and is yet to receive it. Looking worryingly unprofessional. Are there financial concerns? Rumours that masters didn't sign because he wasn't offered much of a wage, Doyle not getting paid..? I wonder why no one wants to sign for us...
  23. Don't know about you, but my loins work all year round
  24. Not quite as tentative as the link between wanting my club to field a septet and a haircut that I don't have
