  1. at the moment matt is boxed in a corner with no purchaser and this addition of two co-promoters is" plan b" Should a buyer or buyers emerge i doubt very much they would want these two inexperienced chaps onboard(probably want guidance from matt though)Matt ford has given us poole supporters so much success and great riders to watch i hope he gets something out of it now to move on,easy in retrospect but timing is everything and should have sold 2/3yrs ago
  2. attendance figures are a closely guarded secret in speedway so theres no proof of this "increase" and promoters can pretty much say anything, didnt think poole were regarded as particularly generous with youth admissions
  3. would think demolition of the site, main grandstand, restuarant, bars kennel blocks, pits etc is a major project and the whole site would be no entry for the public under health and safety. Even tho the new buildings are pre built for assembly on site its still not a two minute job, plus services and groundworks The immediate problem i see is if they go ahead and move the speedway track in the lighting cant be moved until the dogtrack is moved in,which would mean cancelling the dog racing,as far as i know there are no plans for this, can they fit headlamps on the bikes??
  4. well skids i spoke to member of the family a few years ago and that was most certainly not the way of things.
  5. everybodys talking about team changes in the summer and how you immediately become championship winners but if the numbers dont fit your stuffed nothing to do with money, would imagine swindon and wolves would have loved to have made mid season changes this yr but had no chance.also wouldnt want to win a title again through benifiting from the closure of another club.anyway looking forward to another season with a team im happy with and will 100% support
  6. of course only 3 teams wont make the play-offs
  7. think chris louis really knows the time of day so wouldnt give up hope just yet gavin
  8. i might be over optimistic blackheart but surely someone will take it on,albeit at a greatly reduced price,i have no knowledge of the actual figures involved but eventually surely matt would be better selling for say 40k than asking 200k and not selling, new owners would not have to buy the assets if they didnt want to.some prospective buyers might be deterred thinking matt is an almost impossible act to follow, but id much rather follow a mid table or worse team than have no team to follow, holidaymakers will turn up whatever the quality of the team!
  9. recalculated when rye house results declared void, average fell by around 1.5 according to poole website
  10. i would be pretty confident someone or a consortium will come in and buy poole speedway, however, any interested partys would be silly to show an interest now,its a business that is going fall in value with every passing month so wait to mid summer and then hit matt with an offer!!
  11. do the pits have to be moved before the start of the season or will they be allowed to use existing pits? ditto with sound barriers?or does the existing pits have to be demolished before the the sound barriers can be constructed?
  12. to be fair robin never said the season starts in march, he said thats when he could start worrying!!
  13. is that the "last dog meeting" ever hyabb??
  14. track staff would just love to see batch back!!!
  15. could well be favourites! the two reserves would be there all season, are you happy with that? i sort of like the system where one reserve can regularly alternate with someone from the 1-5
  16. good top 4, has howarth lost his way though? and reserves are too weak
  17. i didnt say all doom and gloom tim just that the dog tracks will be divided into the haves and havenots, supposed reliable source reported this wk harlow, henlow, doncaster and central park will each sign a contract paying 20million to each one over 5yrs.Swindon and poole are in the rival group and will certainly not be offered anything similar,or indeed anything at all.both stadiums to be successful need prettymuch all the parts to be profitable.I am connected to both sports(more dogs)and want both venues to succeed now and long into the future.
  18. what a ridiculous thing to write, delighted for speedway, doesnt alter turmoil greyhound racing is in
  19. of course its not a secret, why would it be?but whos interested?
  20. agree ray,big thank you to matt, but my interest now is in the new promoter and the future for poole speedway, not at all what matt ford does next, wish him well but not interested
  21. horse racing is having an upsurge in attendance etc and you could argue that at a flat meeting there could be 6 races of 2-3 mins each or less, they fill the dead time and provide other on course attractions, also provide comfort and usually excellent food
  22. blueboy you are confused, the figures you quote for 2014 is the statutory funding based on, i believe 0.6% of bookmaker turnover known as the bgrf, the big money that tracks are receiving now is from sis(ladbrokes corals with their offshore partners) for worldwide media rights not the government.Poole and swindon greyhounds have aligned themselves with the rival media group gmg(arc group) who many industry experts believe will lose out completely(though when sis become the sole media provider they will recruit a few ex gmg tracks) Small provincial tracks like henlow and harlow are now racing 5or6 times a wk paying trainers very well, thanks to their sis money,at the early morning meetings trainers are getting £100 for every runner they supply plus other contract bonuses.also bluey, bags as a company no longer exists it was dissolved by mutual agreement of the shareholders(mostly various betting operators) as they have now split into rival factions, the promoters then decided to keep the word"bags" as a brand name only as it was associated by customers with greyhound racing.......apologies to speedway fans for all that, its pouring with rain and ive nothing to do this morning sorry!!!
  23. its been well reported that some tracks have been offered 20 /25 million contracts to provide racing for the next 4/5yrs,its all global now, tracks in uk now racing at 8am in the morning to provide pictures for foreign lands, big players have recently bought into betting markets in africa and scandinavia, serious money blueboy.(bye the way towcester was widely regarded as a bad running track,no camber and too wide, aimed at 8 dog races which didnt take off, also the horse grandstand was to far away from the track, certainly wasnt like the white city!!)
