  1. They were not in a marathon they were still having a picnic when the lights went out
  2. Here's something I came across from 1961 I know it has nothing to do with speedway but the principles are the same. Denis Law scored 6 goals for Man city in an FA cup tie against Luton Town on Jan 28 1961, but still finished up on the losing side, the 4th round tie at Kenilworth road was abandoned after 69 minutes because of a waterlogged pitch with City leading 6-2. The 2 sides had to start again from scratch on the1st February and this time Luton emerged as the winners by a 3-1 margin with Denis Law again scoring for Man City, the 6 goals that Law scored in the 1st match were expunged from the records. So these things can happen in other sports as you can see from this example.
  3. Peterborough initially tried it with 2 units and the referee was unhappy with that so they had to use 3 units , nothing to do with what Peterborough wanted it's what the referee demanded.
  4. They have an interest in Peterborough speedway as they are our landlords but I think you know the answer Lakeside would get should they be asking to loan them.
  5. Yes it's a silly idea the temporary lights have no concern of Peterborough speedway , they belong to the showground management.
  6. So we have paid for these riders but now down own them and have received half of the money back. Can anyone explain just what has happened , something seems dodgy here , who did Ged buy these riders from are yes Mick Horton was it. Well he's not the first to be sucked in by Mick Horton and I don't suppose he'll be the last . How is it this crook is still allowed to be a promoter.
  7. And you should have boarded the last train to Clarkesville as you seem to be making a right monkee out of yourself
  8. I think you are not seeing this in the same light as myself I am certainly not defending Ged's comment regarding massive bike changes , what I am saying that this should not have any bearing on the outcome. As for what might have happened Lakeside would have won it at a canter , but they didn't get to the magical 10 heats qualification point so it must seen as incomplete .
  9. Either way it has no bearing whatsoever on the circumstances involved and is not a valid argument for what might have happened .
  10. I just find your comment obnoxious basically and if your not prepared to put your comment on here why load the gun and not fire the bullets. Tonight's problem was not caused by Ged Rathbone and yet you are prepared to make half baked comments about him . We could all make comments about different promoters but most of us prefer not to as a matter of respect.
  11. Whatever the outcome of this , its just another sad day for speedway and not a very good advertisement for any future would be supporters to want to attend .Perhaps they should draw a line and cancel the rest of the season without any competition winners . It's incredible that we've had less league fixtures this season and find ourselves struggling to complete the season . biggest bugbear for me is all those weeks in the height of the season at all tracks with good weather most of the time and no speedway whatever bright spark thought of that idea should not be allowed anywhere near a proposed fixture list again
  12. It was only EIGHT completed heats, why do so many folk exaggerate the facts.
  13. Is there anything in the rules that states a qualified electrician should be in attendance as it seem there wasn't one there tonight .
  14. We will have him at Peterborough no problem and on 7.71 average is a no brainer.
  15. OH dear words fail me, with a bit of luck it will be a runaway train.
  16. You should have bought a one way ticket then and you might have saved a few quid and done us all a favour.
  17. Just about to say the same although catering facilities are out of the hands of speedway promotion, I've always tried to make this point to visiting speedway fans to be wary of the over price food and drink supplied there and they should make provision for this before setting off or make a point of stopping off at the Peterborough Extra services just off the A1 located on the A605.
  18. Ostergaard has been having blood tests this week in his homeland and has been advised by his doctor not to ride . Nothing illegal about that , perhaps you should also see a doctor about your senility.
