  1. This is a discussion forum is it not?
  2. If Steve Ribbons was doing this as a personal venture then yes whatever his previous experience/ventures were would be irrelevant as everyone would just be hoping he succeeds in reopening. The reason it is relevant, just in my opinion, is because you are asking us to put our money in to fund it. I think it’s valid to know who’s going to be using the money and whether it’s going to be used correctly rather than just chucking money over the fence to a stranger. I was initially interested in making a pledge but to be honest the track issues have made me nervous, now you are raising money just to pay the league bond but then having to get a loan to pay for the air fence, does that make all pledgers liable for the loan if they are shareholders, and surely it’s a lost cause for entering any national league competitions this season as it was reported that the deadline to have everything signed off to enter the national trophy was 15th March, however it’s stated that the foam fence would take 2 months to deliver once ordered ….. and they don’t yet have the funds to order it. I’m not trying to be negative and I think it’s really important that we try to get as many tracks running as possible and wish nothing but best wishes and support to this project, but I think it’s only fair that people have valid questions and concerns given the fact this is going to be a fan funded project.
  3. There was a press release this morning regarding the track inspection. http://www.mildenhall-speedway.com/index.php/latest-news/357-air-fence-improvement-required-following-track-inspection
  4. Greg Palmer put the club up for sale last September, so you’d have to assume that he has sold it to the new consortium, although in theory the club ownership should be should be transferred to the trust of 100 pledgers that are putting their money in? With regards to a promoters license, I’m sure this would have already been discussed with the BSPL who they have been in regular dialogue with
  5. It wasn’t meant in bad taste at all so apologies if it came across that way. I think it’s totally fair that if they’ve asked Ben Trigger to work on his fitness and professionalism to ask the same about Ben Barker, and I mean it in the nicest way that last year was a poor year for Barker who has ridden at the very top of this sport and if Plymouth are to have a good season then they will really need Ben B to step up and become the 2nd heat leader and increase his average. I agree that Ben B is a great rider to watch and always gives it 110 percent, I’m also pleased to see Ben T get a championship place and hope the gladiators have a great season.
  6. Does the same apply to Ben Barker then?
  7. There’s been no announcement of the last rider for Plymouth yet. Most speculation linked Ben Trigger, being the obvious choice as a local lad with an average that fits but the last time Ben was asked he’d said he didn’t have a championship place or any offers. You might also be correct in thinking that if it was to be Ben then it would have been announced by now as surely would have been straight forward to do a deal, maybe Plymouth have an ace up their sleeve?
  8. Could always run a double header 😊
  9. If the door has been left open for Mildenhall then you’d like to think that the other clubs have already been made aware and are preparing for this
  10. None of those 3 fit on their last averages
  11. I would say it’s the opposite, there’s only 1 space left in the league and plenty of riders who’d like to ride surely? So if they ask for too much then there is no other team space available and they could be left without a team to start the season?
  12. Yes and thereby writing off the money he was ‘owed’ back by the club and paid for the administrators until buyers were found. I’m not a fan of his or what he did at Torquay and previous clubs but I think it’s important to be factual and acknowledge that he did put millions into that club (albeit had a motive of selling the land which didn’t pay off)
  13. …..He sold Torquay a few months back now and wrote off all of the loans/millions of losses he made.
  14. And I would say Jack Smith or Connor Coles are better options than both
  15. Any news on the last signing? I’m guessing Jack Smith, Connor Coles or Ben Trigger are the obvious candidates with the points remaining or are there other riders out there who didn’t ride last year that would fit in nicely on that average.
  16. Just out of interest, do you know if he was one of the 2 riders that were signing for Plymouth before the U turn when Klindt became available?
  17. Good signing, very pleased for Plymouth . What does that leave and who would the likely contenders be for number 7?
  18. I’ll be delighted if Plymouth have managed to find a genuine number 1 as there didn’t appear to be many options out there and it’ll be good for them and the league if they are competitive, we’ve lost way too many teams in the South in recent years and they do a great job to keep things running down there and always give a warm welcome. I’ll be surprised if it’s Zagar but he does have good links down there from his days riding for Trelawny, incidentally if it is Zagar then it would leave exactly 3.00 left and they could then sign Trigger.
  19. And that’s my point, it was a shocking excuse when they let Vinnie go, I think 99 percent of Poole fans would rather have him in the team rather than Starke? Unless….. the number 7 has a higher average than 2.00
  20. How do you think he got that average?
  21. Nico Covatti - 7.82 Ben Barker 5.87 Joe Thompson 5.63 James Pearson - 5.51 Kyle Newman - 5.24 Alfie Bowtell 5.07 Lasse Fredriksen 4.67 Total - 39.81
  22. How about a return for James Pearson?
  23. No, the rider has already signed . They just like to spread out the announcements
