I wonder if that was a deliberate decision which ended up backfiring? 😂 -

Edinburgh V Somerset Pl 19/8/16 @7.30pm

They're not the dog track covers. Apparently, according to Eddie McKenna on Monarchs FB page yesterday, they're covers that have been obtained a few months ago but are too good quality to use - from that he seemed to be saying they're too heavy to drag on and off the track. Doesn't sound like the dog track covers to me. In any case, using the dog track covers would be fraught with risks, as they are on the dog track to protect against shale getting into the greyhounds' paws. Dragging these covers on and off a speedway track would surely mean lots of shale ending up unwittingly on the dog track! -
Rye House Vs Glasgow Pl Saturday 13/08/2016
stewmac replied to damosuzuki's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Talking about Glasgow's promoters, it always disappoints me to see both Dick and Dickson still sometimes pictured together. Why? These two cheats descended to the lowest point imaginable when they instructed their team to lower their averages by deliberately losing back in (I think 2011) at Armadale. How anyone can trust them is still beyond belief. They brought the sport into disrepute. Big time. -

I think you should be acknowledging that he won you that meeting! -

Watch the video. I have watched it about 20 times and Ryan alone was at fault. The Rye rider was nowhere near him. It appeared Fisher picked up grip and shot forward. He should have been excluded. -
Thank you!

Is it possible to have an updated league as of tonight please?

Berwick Vs Glasgow 27/7/16
stewmac replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well, I, along with three other Edinburgh fans will be there cheering on the Bandits. We don't normally attend, so that's a few extras £££s in the coffers of Berwick. Hope the Tiggers get stuffed. -
Edinburgh V Scunthorpe Pl 22/7/16 @7.30pm
stewmac replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
How to victory from the jaws of defeat! Two observations from the meeting. Firstly, I was very disappointed that Mark Riss was replaced by Clegg in heat 10, as that was totally unmerited. Riss had been slow from the starts but had looked very fast when making up ground in his previous heat. Clegg meanwhile had done absolutely nothing to suggest at that stage he'd get a point, which in fact he didn't. Secondly, heat 14, and Clegg suddenly came to life, firstly outgating Palm Toft and Wilkinson, then in the rerun harrying and finally passing Palm Toft! Where on earth has that form been all season Max? So frustrating to see you can do it after all.... Can we please see that a bit more often?? Anyways, Scunthorpe must be sick. Twice they have thrown away victories against us in 5 days now! -
Edinburgh V Newcastle Pl 27/5/16 @7.30pm
stewmac replied to Mr Blobby's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Feel, like others, that Newcastle would have left with all 4 points had they had Worrall. But with two weeks now to regroup, surely the Monarchs line up will be different when they face Ipswich at home on 10th June? It seems obvious that next week's testimonial meeting will give the opportunity to assess new blood.... -
Edinburgh V Glasgow - League Cup 6th May
stewmac replied to george.m's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Richie Worrall, the new James Sergeant I see. As for Barker, an ill judged and all too obvious attempt to cheat, dropping off at the back and making absolutely no attempt to get up, merely watching how the race continued. Glad the ref saw straight away what his intentions were and awarded the race, despite the fact that his partner wasn't far off the pace and could possibly have still influenced the end result. -
It "bafflies" me too that you could be so daft as to make an issue out of this nonsense. I'll ask you a final question: What was stopping you either asking for the contact details weeks ago of the person to contact (Mike Hunter) or contacting him directly via the Monarchs website? I suspect I already know the answer. You simply wanted to stir it all up here. Well done. You managed that, and you also succeeded in making yourself look like a prize plonker. Are you a Tiggers fan by any chance? (I know, another question, but I feel there's no other logical explanation!)
-
Let's look at it this way. If I wanted to buy my Dad a DVD from Somerset and I looked at their website, and couldn't see an up to date way of doing it, I'd use common sense and logic to either ask politely on the relevant page on here who to contact, or I'd email the club via their website or if I was aware of who does all the press stuff for Somerset I'd ask for their contact details. Surprisingly enough, none of these options are difficult to do. Even more surprisingly, you seem to have been unable to manage any of these common sense approaches. Who's the imbecile here?
-
Mike Hunter, who just about everyone in speedway knows, probably including you too, could have easily sorted things for you.I don't for one minute imagine that you don't already know this, but no, you had to come on and make a story out of nothing. I'll let the other readers of this thread decide who the real imbecile is here.
-
Fact is though, as we are a pretty close knit community, us speedway lot, a simple request or email would easily have sorted this out. I agree with Blobby's post, Lunnasperm, you could easily have got your DVD sorted without coming on here for a dig.

The Glasgow track is, imo, dangerously one line going into turns 3 and 4, which means nasty accidents such as this are always likely to happen if the slightest error is made.

Glasgow V Edinburgh - League Cup 3pm, 3rd April

While Bewley may or may not be ready to take on the PL, I have no doubt that given some time and encouragement, he will improve. After quite a few years of never getting any better, I'm afraid the same can't be said of Mitchell Davey. I know who I'd rather have at number 7. A rider who potentially can improve. Not one who definitely can't. -

I decided not to travel through on Sunday but the result didn't surprise me. However, although it's perfectly obvious that the team is considerably weaker than last year, it's a bit early to press any panic buttons. Let's see how things are going by early May. -
You can say that, but in my opinion what the promotion did was bordering on illegal extortion of money from the public. To allow folk to travel, pay money for parking, programmes and food that they will never see again, all in the knowledge from the promotion that they'd likely see nothing at the end of the day, was nothing short of a national scandal.Thankfully I didn't go, but if I had, I would not have left that stadium without threatening to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau over this blatant and deliberate (and successful) attempt to extort money from thousands of innocent punters.
-
There's no doubt that from tweets and stories going around, the Belle Vue promotion knew days ago this meeting was in doubt. With that knowledge, they are the ones to blame. No one else. They should have shown some mettle and maturity and cancelled the meeting ahead of today, to stop people travelling from all over the UK and waiting for hours on end to see nothing. The fact that they refused to do that shows they callously and cynically wanted all the money in, and didn't give a damn about the fans. The BSPA should give them the strongest reprimand possible and fine them very heavily. They should also insist that things are right from now on, or else their right to promote should be questioned and possibly removed from them. British Speedway has waited months for this miracle to come together. To try to put some good news and good feeling back into the sport in this country. Instead, it has been served up a National DISASTER. Belle Vue Promoters - HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME.
-
Ah ha, perhaps we're getting to the crux of the matter now. Let's lay the blame on Edinburgh who are legitimately only trying to protect their race night business when in fact, you are now admitting it's the BSPA who should be on the end of all the Tiggers' bitterness.
-
Tongue in cheek surely. If you've been a speedway fan as long as me, then you will know fine well that very few fans can afford to travel far these days for their weekly fix, beyond their home track. Finances dictate otherwise. Unlike you.
