  1. Return leg now rained off with an early call from Glasgow. The ironic thing is plenty will slate Glasgow for calling it off early, perhaps the same ones that are going mental about last nights late call off who are also the same that keep saying “Speedway is dying in this country” at every opportunity! There’s no pleasing some people!
  2. People seem to forget these guys don’t get paid if they don’t ride. It’s very easy to sit here and say they should’ve done this that and the next thing. Im sure the decision wasn’t taken lightly.
  3. Our GP superstar destroyed his opponents tonight after he took 4 laps to adjust to his new home.
  4. Great meeting, great crowd, great racing and the tigers rose to the challenge. 10 points from Sarjeant when up against 2 high averaging reserves was a great return.
  5. Glasgow 1 Craig Cook 2 Nathan Greaves 3 Claus Vissing 4 Paul Starke 5 Chris Harris 6 James Sarjeant 7 Jack Thomas Berwick 1 Kevin Doolan 2 Aaron Summers 3 Jye Etheridge 4 David Howe 5 NB Jacobsen 6 Theo Pijper 7 Danny Gappmaier Home debut for the new Glasgow boys and we get to see them both in heat 1, looking forward to an entertaining match with Glasgow winning by 10+ although it may be tighter if the high average Berwick reserves score well!
  6. would be a decent move especially with a high scoring reserve to accompany the new 3 pointer!
  7. It’s also disappointing that a thread was created for the postponed fixture and that now has 2 pages of comments with some people moaning/complaining but nobody set up the thread for tonight’s meeting. I suspect those same people would have complained about Saturday nights fixture going ahead and the lack of support at the meeting caused by the football and the resulting financial implications. I find it frustrating that so many people choose to be negative about the sport instead of embracing the positives.
  8. I think Glasgow will sneak this one but it won’t be easy. Helped by the fact Lakeside have a NL guest. Worrall’s form is very poor and it’ll depend what Ben Barker turns up!
  9. Can’t see that being an issue when SD didn’t hand pick this years team.
  10. That’s a fair point. The same thing, form wise, happened with Aaron Summers the year before.
  11. We have no idea what impact Stewart leaving has had on any of this seasons issues however one thing that is fact is that these guys are self employed and are paid based on results. I find it hard to believe riders such as Worrall think to themselves “Could get paid up to £1500 a meeting but I don’t like the new team manager so I’ll just go an earn c£6-700 instead”.
  12. Genuine question, how relevant is this to the actual league table? I.e do these figures have any bearing on things or is it more for a form guide?
  13. I’m not one for making changes if it can be avoided but given the continued underperformance I think something needs to be done. Looking at it the latest averages I would look at removing Worrall and Sarjeant which would free up 11.40 plus we would have a further 0.5 to play with, giving a total of 11.90. Based on the set set up of other teams and the fact LW and CV have been excellent all year, I reckon I’d go with a 7ish and 5ish point rider, what’s everyone’s thoughts?
  14. He’s probably more dejected reading the comments on here and on the Glasgow fb Page. He’s struggling for pace that’s obvious to see but comparing him against other reserves that have an average of over 1.5pts more is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. We’ve come up against a very high averaged reserve in our last few meetings - some over 5 points! Our team is top heavy and when our top 2 don’t score double figures with solid backup from the middle order then it puts us under severe pressure. I’m not saying JS is blameless but expecting him to outscore visiting reserves each week is unrealistic against more balanced teams.
  15. Primarily because the Scunthorpe boys struggled to get up from their falls. 4 times in the first 4 heats. Then IRR on top of R/R didn’t help things.
  16. Thoroughly enjoyable meeting with some of the guys hitting some very good form. track was significantly better than last week and the personal explanation of the sittuation from Gerry was appreciated.
  17. Yes to Jake It gave flexibility on him being able to take the RR ride later if needed. The Phillips one confused us as well, although they announced early on that Manzares had a plane to catch from Stansted at 7am and with the meeting delayed a fair bit he may have been struggling to get away in time if he’d ridden heat 14. His van was down and ready to go before heat 15.
  18. At the track now and it looks in the best condition it has done this season. Plenty of water going down and plenty of dirt on the track
  19. Forecast says shower at 3pm and then fine. Even if the shower is heavy I can’t see it being an issue given the temperature. The good old news is it’s also not supposed to be windy which should minimise the dust issues we had last week.
  20. Forecast now for lighter rain pre meeting and nothing thereafter for rest of the day
