  1. Totally agree. 90% of the 'package' is the same as what's in Poland, the small variation in our product is not what is causing the major issues. There are simply not enough people going to meetings nowadays.
  2. Reserves on c£50-60 pp and it increases thereafter through the team. With 20 league meetings and say 10 other meetings on top, with an average of 10 points, and ignoring heat 15/rr etc for simplicity, this would provide an income of c£30k for a someone on this sort of money. £100 per point may seem a lot on the face of it but when you factor in the expenses incurred by the riders - bikes, repairs, travelling etc then it's not a lot of money hence the need to double up. I know they will benefit from sponsorship to help offset costs but that can't be relied upon. The BSPA/SCB have a lot to sort out but at the end of the day they can't magically generate '000's of new supporters to bridge the gap between a clubs current income and expenses and I can't see rider wages reducing either. Unfortunately it is a bit of a catch 22 situation and I don't agree that the full blame can be laid at the door of the BSPA.
  3. £100 per point isn't far off what most of the top riders in the championship would be getting. A maximum on that basis would have earned him £1500 so not really insane money.
  4. Are you forgetting that's pretty much the same way that Stewart Dickson ended up in charge? His business was a strong backer of the Tigers, he then joined as promoter and in turn ended up team manager! A fan/sponsor with no experience as a team manager - seemed to work ok for Stewart but a lot of people have a bit of a chip on their shoulder about the same thing happening with Cami.
  5. 'Pencilled in' as the first round of the 2019 KOC probably
  6. It’s all Glasgow’s fault apparently. Lakeside and Peterborough still on for the treble and appear to have their fixtures booked in. Well I say that, apart from Lakesides league fixture against Workington which has still to be arranged. That’ll be Lakeside’s fault. Workington can do no wrong!!
  7. Easy to blame the BSPA, but to be honest, the only thing certain at the beginning of the season is that the play offs can't be arranged until the end of the season. Questions need to be asked of the promotions causing delays in the cup competitions. Why are cup matches being left so late in the season to arrange?! Also, why should the BSPA step in and say the Play offs should be 5/6/7 Oct when there is a perfectly good weekend the one before where (injuries permitting) it appears all teams would have their riders available?! Albeit Workington have since arranged to race Edinburgh in the cup. They knew the situation with the play offs before Edinburgh qualified for the next round of the cup. At the end of the day, everything points towards Workington delaying things unnecessarily. No issues with the other teams still involved!
  8. The rumour is Glasgow have provided various dates for their home leg but Workington have provided one for theirs, no prizes for guessing which one!
  9. Can't see any good reason for the play off between Workington and Glasgow not being next weekend and the cup fixture against Edinburgh being the following. Other than Workington running scared of Cook and trying to be awkward over it. Like has already been mentioned, Workington should have raced their cup fixtures before now and are also the only team in the league to not have completed their home matches. Poor show really and obviously nothing at all to do with them after all the world is against them apparently
  10. Did Stonehewer not ride in the GP’s when at Workington?! And Cook rode for you last year, fast forward 12 months and he shouldn’t be allowed in the league that he committed to for the rest of his Speedway career? Sounds like you may be running scared of the Cookie Monster in the play offs!
  11. “Tried to buy the league...”. Is that the same as trying to run a successful business by constructing a team that will entertain and have a chance of winning some silverware?! What next, Team GB (backed by the same people) trying to buy the World Cup?! “Nothing but a corrupt bunch of team managers running it into the ground” is that apart from the Lakeside, P’boro and Workington promotion that you want to see win the title?! Is it safe to assume your team didn’t make the play offs?!
  12. I’d fancy Glasgow against Workington, Sarjeant in decent form and a few decent guest options at reserve for Greaves. A lot will also depend on the Grand Prix and Cook’s availability.
  13. So Peterborough confirmed top of the table and have a choice from Glasgow, Lakeside and Workington. Can anyone see past them selecting Lakeside given the neutral track and victory there last night?! It would also create a northern and southern semi final which would be good for all fans.
  14. Ooft, what a result. If Lakeside win their 3 'home' matches and Workington beat Newcastle away and win at home then Edinburgh miss out!
  15. I agree it’s frustrating, incredibly frustrating. More so because of the makeup of the team at the start of the year and the thirst for success from both fans and promotion. However, I don’t feel much if any of the poor form is down to Stewart Dickson not being in charge. Yes, tomorrow I think we will be lucky to see any racing unfortunately.
  16. He was, it wasn’t aimed at Glasgow in any way. It was me that felt the words were pertinent given the negativity on this forum towards the Glasgow TM and promotion over the past few months. It’s very easy to sit here and criticise and spend the promotions money etc. At the end of the day the guys that ride the bikes take a pretty significant proportion of the responsibility for the lack of positive results we have had this year. On paper at the beginning of the year our team looked unstoppable, plenty praising the promotion etc but things then go pear shaped - Kerr’s injury, bombers persistent engine issues, Worrall’s incredibly poor form and all of a sudden it’s because we have a ‘fan’ as TM.
  17. Taken from an Ipswich fan on twitter and entirely relevant to some ungrateful and negative Glasgow fans on here... Rarely use twitter now and I'm shocked at the amount of so called speedway fans who continued slate our club! It's clearly an easy job to run and promote the club! Count yourselves lucky to have such a great club to support if only you knew what goes on behind the scenes
  18. That’s a matter of opinion, we were 13 in front at that stage against, like you say, 2 former tigers who were big favourites to win the heat. I’d argue that with James being out in 2 of the next 3 heats, it would make more sense to keep him for those rather than have him race in 3 in a row. He scored 5 out of 6 and potentially won us the match with that return. i bet you’d have criticised if James had been in that heat and scored less in his other 2, or would you have praised the move?!
  19. Contrary to what people on here think, there is no major issue with team morale, a contrast to last years position when there was a total breakdown and that was during Stewart’s rein - not that I blame him for that, but I do have to laugh when people blame our poor form on the new team manager. I dont have an issue with people expressing opinions but 1 or 2 on here are constantly saying the same things with absolutely no evidence to back up their comments but I suppose that’s the issue with online forums!
  20. Agreed and that’s my understanding as well. The glasgow promotion were very aware of the clashes and signing the highest averaged rider in the league does allow an adequate guest to be secured. I’ve been happy with the Cook signing and him being absent last night did not hurt us at all, poor performances from Harris and the reserves along with, what would appear to be an unfit Greaves, cost us any chance of securing a point.
  21. I think you’ll find Michael Max is heavily involved on a tactical basis when it comes to team management both during and post Stewart’s tenure but hey, some guys on here seem to know about all the ins and outs behind the scenes or so they like to believe If only I had a £1 for every time the same 2/3 guys on here say “Glasgow’s management have a lot to answer for”/“a fan promoted to manage the team” etc usual nonsense with no basis for the accusations. The bottom line is, the likes of Harris, Worrall and Sarjeant have been significantly poorer than everyone expected this year. People saying we were wrong to let Richie go, his scores were shocking, he’s lost more than a point off his average. We gambled on keeping Harris and that’s not looking like paying off unfortunately.
  22. Unfortunate with the weather but am early call off is appreciated.
