  1. They have built the team within a budget to afford CL racing, change that and there won’t be any racing. If Jonny foreigner is the answer then I doubt that as well as not many will relish riding at a small tight circuit on a Saturday night.
  2. HSE would dictate the medical cover required for the racing and spectators attending. The cost is unknown to me for paramedic and an ambulance but I guess it’s a fair proportion of the promotion costs. If Len Silver actually explained the expense involved then I’m sure spectators would have more sympathy (or not). He came out very quick to ask for an increase in admission when citing Drew Kemp’s £1000 kevlars!
  3. Thanks for sharing and I’m itching to do a bike restoration!
  4. The problem is you are now relying on a team of kids and Rowe and Kemp to score the bulk of points. There’s a need for an older head and Bowen would be ideal. As I said it would need wholesale changes though.
  5. Anyway as Ledwith could be out for up to 8 weeks and Spooner being so injury prone maybe it’s time to change the team. It might mean having to drop Jenkins initially but getting Bowen or Alfie Bowtell into the team might be necessary now.
  6. Supposing that was a play off final! The lack of speedway in the south east means we don’t have a lot of choice but it is becoming an issue I’m afraid with the curfew. The track is tricky but only because the riders are not equipped with the full skills and knowledge to avoid problems. Jake Mulford is a novice but his ability to ride and overtake no less proves that.
  7. What team GB at under 21 level is the right approach. But these lads, apart from Lambert need to be able to enjoy their riding and not shoehorned into sides to make the numbers fit. Poland is a world away from the UK and we need to keep it in perspective. Denmark and Sweden have long encouraged young riders but both are now struggling especially Sweden who are dangerously struggling for talent.
  8. For the majority of the kids even the CL is a jump too far and having a 2 point rider will mean teams are basically 6 a side. They get the sack and disillusionment sets in so there must be a lower league standard for them to learn and progress. These young riders shouldn’t be used just so teams can build a better top heavy team and the bspa have a duty of care to see to it.
  9. The greyhounds are treated very well nowadays and there’s no ‘barbarism’. But it is a dying sport with public opinion moving to get it banned. If it moved to the Far East then I would fear for the dogs!
  10. Interesting that Ford has come out for one league as he has calculated that he could keep Kurtz and Holder so long as their averages remain low.
  11. Mr Cook’s recent criticism of riders in the Eastbourne team might also be a reason for Alfie’s harsh manoeuvre.
  12. Allen Emmett 12 point maximum and a 39 all draw - happy days!
  13. Alfie doesn’t yet seem to have the control to turn the bike sharply and maintain speed which is required at Eastbourne.
  14. The sport needs to focus on tracks that can be sustained without the need for dog racing. Its future isn’t good as pressure from real estate development grows and people find chasing dogs not ethical in today’s sanitised world. Losing Coventry and then Rye and Lakeside wasn't in the plan!
  15. Well done Matt Wethers ! Just goes to show that some riders take a little longer to get there than others. A great servant to the sport!
  16. Was the track as bad as the Somerset promotion state?
  17. Well if Ash is out then his income has just been slashed as you put it. If the sport is to be credible and more verity of opposition then a weaker league of more clubs is needed.
  18. I do hope the bspa looks to amalgamate the PL and CL next year as rent a rider is doing my head in.!!
  19. Having watched Edwards since he was 12 he needs to establish himself education wise and his speedway. Jumping into the current CL won’t do him any favours and probably do more harm than good.
  20. Good stadia great race track but the promise of what standard of racing they can afford is the question.
  21. Because the UK had no joined up youth policy and relied on riders coming through by chance. Its a world of difference now and if Palin is an example of what we can produce then there is hope!
  22. It does reflect the dilemma the CL is now.Too strong for the majority of NL riders trying to moving up and a refuge for PL riders wanting more rides. I don’t see how it will change unless we have a strong PL and large enough to stop riders dropping down. Unfortunately it will probably result in a much weaker CL if it survives in its current format.
  23. I suppose that helps Leicester then as they don’t have to name a replacement and use a guest to suite. Doesn't help Jack though and another reason the ‘ 2 point average’ attraction to clubs was misplaced.
  24. Wouldn’t it be helpful if Jack replaced Perks in the NL side to give the lad a bit of confidence?
  25. You need a lot of luck to avoid injuries at this level as it’s not always your fault! The Kent team built with so many youngsters was a bit of a gamble in my view. The Mulford lad looks the part and needs a team place pronto.
