  1. Think Nathan would be a lot better now, and at reserve to start with and he'd improve our away form a bit, I think most years, whatever our home team is, we'll have a large advantage as we have such an unusual shape track
  2. Happy with Clegg as a signing, Welcome... Solid, young reserve How about... Michael Palm Toft 7.96 Gino Manzares 4.00 Nike Lunna 5.63 Matthew Wethers 5.78 Aaron Summers 7.18 Nathan Greaves 3.99 Max Clegg 3.17 Or Ellis Perks instead of Gino and Nathan would go to 2 and Ellis to 6 Alternatively we could go Kus instead of Gino and 2.00er (instead of Greaves) and Max at reserve?
  3. I like Pavlova, and would love him to be back (Nike, Pavlova and Aaron, hairiest speedway team in history maybe?) But someone told me a while back he left Newcastle in bad terms, so maybe he wouldn't want to come back?
  4. Thanks for the information I'm sure there'll be someone in George's magic hat... Or that's what we constantly get reassured... It does feel like we're left in silence a lot more than some other clubs, but could be worse, we have speedway and our promotion generally do a good job in the end
  5. Isn't Pila in the second tier? Who ride midweek? I'm not sure...
  6. I just can't see or think of any riders who will be in the team, not saying they're not lined up, it just makes it more exciting to who we have signed when they're announced, the totally unknown is interesting and I have no idea what the outcome of team building will be, fun times ahead... Just wish Rene could be with us
  7. Interesting to see Tomas H Jonasson looking for uk rides... Presumably for PL though? Or would he stoop down low enough to ride in the Championship? :O Naaah... Bargain on a 6.96 average though (I think, 2017 PL average converted by 1.5) if someone could persuade him... Baby Bjerre, Summers and NBJ would be nice signings too... Different...
  8. I thought he chose a Polish team where he was just a squad member so he could still ride weekends in uk?
  9. Tero... Hopefully there'll be two Finns in the team
  10. Disappointed that Ashley never signed But I am excited to see what Nike brings next season, he's on a very small average imo and I think he could do well... Could we have a very Finnish team next season? Or will another team take another one of our riders...? Time will tell... My latest and probably incorrect guess... But at least it shows we can still field a decent team with the riders we have left to choose from Aaron Summers 7.18 Matthew Wethers 5.78 Matej Kus 5.63 Nike Lunna 5.63 Tero Aarnio 6.83 Gappmaier/Bacon 4.84/4.67 2.00er 2.00
  11. Tero, Ash, Ludvig and Richie for me Teamed with the already signed Wethers Leaves the reserves left to fill... Connor Coles and Danyon Hume? Or Max Clegg and Connor Coles? (Danny as replacment for 2.00er? What night do Stoke race? If it's Sunday then Coles is a no go Richie Worrall 7.80 Ashley Morris 5.44 Ludvig Lindgren 6.47 Matthew Wethers 5.78 Tero Aarnio 6.83 Hume/Clegg? 3.70/3.17 Coles/Phillips? 2.00 With Clegg at reserve we'd be able to fit Alfie Bowtell or Ben Hopwood at 7 instead of Coles/Phillips... Interesting times ahead... You never know... Kenneth Bjerre and Bjarne Pedersen may re-sign
  12. Solid signing Happy with that one, genuinely thought he wouldn't be back thought, I'm happy Ashley signs next? Not sure how many Newcastle United fans would like the sounds of that one Haha
  13. Got to be honest I wasn't sure about any of them, most were just local youngsters that came to mind and others were big shots and experienced NL riders... The thought of Connor Coles is more and more appealing to me the more I think of it, in this weaker league, he already knows the track, give him another shot I say... Similarly Luke Ruddick, he's ridden Brough in the NJL and I think he's a very solid, young rider... Wasn't sure whether JPB rode still like and as you say, get well soon... Also good luck to James Cockle, didn't realise he'd retired either... Embleton, Hitchen, O'Keefe (All young, local options, wasn't sure of any of them tbh) Wallinger imo still looks an ok shout and as you say, Edwards and Jenkins will be hard to get... The 2.00 option looks pretty desperate for Newcastle and I think whoever we sign there could make or break our season... Connor Coles seems best to me right now, although I'll probably think different later xD Thoughts?
  14. Sunday night boredom and back to talking about team building Richie Worrall © 7.80 GBR Ashley Morris 5.44 GBR Matej Kus 5.63 CZE Rene Bach 7.19 DEN Tero Aarnio 6.83 FIN Ben Hopwood 2.40 GBR Alfie Bowtell 2.32 GBR Tero Aarnio 6.83 FIN Ludvig Lindgren 6.47 SWE Matej Kus 5.63 CZE Matthew Wethers 5.78 AUS Kyle Newman 5.83 GBR Ashley Morris 5.44 GBR 2.00er (Prob Danny) 2.00 GBR Steve Worrall 7.97 GBR Ashley Morris 5.44 GBR Tero Aarnio 6.83 FIN Matej Kus 5.63 CZE Richie Worrall 7.80 GBR Alfie Bowtell 2.32 GBR 2.00er (Prob Danny) 2.00 GBR Think my last one is my favourite, despite not having Ludvig or Rene Here's a question, who would people like as a 2.00er? I don't mean 2.01 or higher, just a 2.00er A few that come to my mind would be: a mature JPB (Does he even still ride?), Luke Ruddick (Sounds good, localish if Berwick don't pick up), Josh Embleton (Too soon?), Danny Phillips (Is he fit?), Connor Coles (Again in weaker league?), James Cockle (Experience?), James Hitchen (Too soon? Not sure...), Jason Edwards (Too far?), Jordan Jenkins (No way lol, we'd never get him), Rob Shuttleworth (Any good?), William O'Keefe (Too soon?), David Wallinger (Redcar?)
  15. 1 Rene Bach 7.19 2 Ashley Morris 5.44 3 Josh Pickering 6.11 4 Matthew Wethers 5.78 5 Tero Aarnio 6.83 6 Either Tom Bacon & Danny Phillips 7 Or Gino Manzares/Ellis Perks & Jack Thomas/Alfie Bowtell As reserves
  16. That team looks pretty bad, not going to lie, but I understand the strength in depth approach you're looking for
  17. Don't think Wethers in nailed on, especially considering what he said in his interview, he's keeping all options oipen and he didn't want to say for sure he'd be a 2019 Diamond, however I still wouldn't be surprised to see him back and would be delighted to see him back also... Just not over Ashley, Tero or Ludvig please Agree with what you say and I like Matej too, but there's others on a similar average I'd prefer to see, and he's another same old rider, we need a freshen up, Matej can win races, yes, but he's not exactly a big entertainer like Ludvig CAN be on occasion (no one can argue against that, I just wish it were as often as it used to be in the Ludvig Lindgren/Danny King days)
  18. My thoughts... Obviously one controversial rider but I can't NOT involve him, I think you all know who I'm talking about 1. Rene Bach 7.19 2. Ashley Morris 5.44 (2.5% Reduction) 3. Tero Aarnio 6.83 4. Ludvig Lindgren 6.47 5. Aaron Summers (c) 7.18 6. Ben Hopwood 2.40 (2.5% Reduction) 7. Alfie Bowtell 2.32 (2.5% Reduction) Total 37.83 Rene is a given, always loved him and always wanted him back ever since he left and think he would suit the number 1 role, especially in a weakened league Ashley, great trier, great racer and loved watching him the past couple of years and clearly wants to be back, would make a great partner for Rene and would own most heat 8s Tero, pretty much exactly the same as Ash... And he's from the greatest country Tero is the best Ludvig, yup... Not many people including him, dunno if he's said something somewhere about not returning or people's opinions means he's not involved much, but I still think he's great and would work well with Tero at 3 and 4, still a big fan of him and would love to see him back still Captain 'Spud' Summers sound about right? Not a HUGE fan of the bloke for some reason, but christ does he ride Brough well, very low average too? Would probably be our number 1 before too much longer and I'd be happy to see it, nice all round top 5 in a weaker league Ben Hopwood, was a fan of his never give up and steady style, you know what you'll get from him, which granted isn't A LOT, but it might be in a weaker league, would love to see the Ben Hopwood, Alfie Bowtell partnership back, we didn't see it enough Alfie Bowtell, went alright for us a few seasons ago and didn't well in the NL last year, always worth a shot this year imo Other riders: Danny Phillips (obviously) David Wallinger (Probably Redcar though) Nike Lunna (Hair offs with Aaron?) Michael Palm Toft (Big fan and always gives 110%) Probably a few more faces I wouldn't mind seeing (Pickering spring to mind) but cost a realism also comes to mind
  19. Both fair comments, but BP is right, it's up to Leon at the end of the day and he's intelligent enough to decide on his own
  20. At his stage in his career, isn't being surrounded by familiar faces and lessons/experience waaay more important long term?
  21. But will he be loyal to his home town club, where I assume he's still based? Seems like a nice enough lad with a lot of sense for his age
  22. Why not? Thought he was a local lad and it seems the smart team for him to ride for if he's to move up into Championship?
  23. Leon Flint has to be your number 7, what a nice story that would be, partner him with someone like David Howe and he'll learn loads
  24. Sure he was... As proven by the man himself
