  1. Assume that's to make space for Edinburgh in the cup? Edinburgh already racing on 30th so moves had to be made
  2. Has anything been said about the 90th anniversary meeting? The return of Robert Lambert perhaps? Maybe even bigger and Kenneth Bjerre and Nicki Pedersen might make a return? Or do we get to watch Danny Phillips Vs Luke Ruddick or something similar instead... Hope there's a special meeting with lots of Junior races too, with Archie involved as well...
  3. Or just practising, unless Plymouth or Somerset signed him for that challenge? It's a possibility Edit: In fact yes, I've just seen this, the teams for today's challenge at Somerset... Looks an interesting meeting TeamsSOMERSET: 1 Todd Kurtz (Capt) 2 Nicolas Vicentin 3 Anders Rowe 4 Luke Harris 5 Henry Atkins 6 Zack Cook 7 Saul BulleyPLYMOUTH: 1 Ben Barker 2 Adam Extance 3 Ben Wilson 4 Richard Andrews (Capt) 5 Danny Ayres 6 Jamie Bursill 7 Adam Sheppard
  4. No offence to Ulrich, but he'd be one of the last riders I'd want the Diamonds to sign
  5. Then fine, we'd have Kasper Andersen at reserve instead of Danny We can't lose either way, and if Max struggles in main body, he'd drop back down again, we'd always be solid no matter what... Which is important Don't worry, All us Newcastle fans have seen what a determined and never say die rider Tero is... He'd be my second pick for next years team... Behind Matty Wish we had him... I heard he didn't have his bikes at Birmingham, as all of his equipment was abroad, is this true? Could explain a lot... Keep Tommy even if it means keeping Danny as well? Unless maybe someone like Danyon Hume would fit in as a straight swap for Danny once the limit goes up?
  6. Ah well that's good for him!! Good to see Tero doing good
  7. Fair comment... My view is just that we are wasting too much average limit on our top end and don't have enough down at the bottom, which is putting a lot of pressure on people like Max and Jacob to go to Eastbourne and Somerset etc... and score big points, it's just not fair on them I agree Max is one of the best number 2s but so would be someone like Kasper Andersen, and then we'd have Max at reserve!! Meaning we'd have the best reserve too, not the weakest (In Danny) I'm focusing more on our reserve issues as we would still have one of the best riders in the league as our number 1 and Lasse and Matty in the team, two riders would I WOULDN'T split up... Meaning someone like Matej (Or Nike if he's finished falling in love on holiday) would slot in at 5, which I know isn't the strongest, but it's the price to pay to get Max and Jacob at reserve (Very strong) Another question I have, Does Jonas Jeppesen ride in Poland, he seems to be a talent and a half coming from Denmark!!
  8. I said that, I think Brummie took my quote from when you quoted me... AHHH I think they ride well together, at home, Steve protecting Max, and Max not panicking... But we can't really expect that all the time, or else Steve will be our reserve!! It's very risky, I think Max riding at reserve would be much better suited for him at this stage in his career Let's hope so They do!! Steve is number 1 and Max is number 2 lol
  9. Thought I'd pop along since I was in the area And of course to support the Diamonds!! Yes, I do know what you mean, don't see Danny going anywhere, but if we are to win anything this season... Maybe it's best, keep in mind we need to get through Edinburgh and another team in the final and we're in with a shout of a cup, we need the strongest possible team for then I love Tommy, was one of me favourite riders, even before we signed him, but in the best interest of the club, he is struggling this season imo (For a number 5)... Which I feel awful saying
  10. Yes I did. And Yes Kus is a downgrade on Jorgensen, I admit... But is it not worth it to get the upgrade on Phillips and have Max and Jacob at reserve? Our team would be solid top to bottom and we'd still have an out and out number 1
  11. Well after such a disappointing trip to Eastbourne... Something needs to be shaken up, even if it's just new faces to keep the crowds interested!! 1. Steve Worrall - Obvious keep, may not be the unbeatable powerhouse he was two years ago but he's a proper team man and captain, him and Max seem to ride amazingly well together and there is no rider in the world I would swap Steve for. 2. Max Clegg - Clegg's obviously worth keeping, gone very well so far this year, especially at home (Shouldn't be at number 2 though!! Too much pressure on the lad) He is very young and seems to have gotten to grips with Brough Park almost instantly, something very few riders can claim. 3. Lasse Bjerre - Has been slightly disappointing to start the season, however I feel getting dropped by Peterborough and getting over the few little bits of mechanical and injury issues he's had so far this year, he's going to step up a level, Seems to be getting more used to Brough Park and can be very quick in front, him and Matty seem to ride very well together, although he can be a little inconsistent and it's not so obvious, but a keep for me. I feel his slightly lower than normal average helps him keep his spot here. 4. Matthew Wethers - Early contender for Diamond of the year already? Not only has he really proved a lot of people wrong, as he was considered uninspiring when he was signed at the beginning of last year, he has really made the number 4 spot his own. Such a great style and is stupidly fast for a tall Aussie!! Really solid and consistent... And a few nice donuts too after heat 15s he really shouldn't be winning Easiest choice for me... KEEP!! 5. Thomas Jorgensen - While Tommy can be very quick in front and very entertaining with his passes, he's kinda struggled for form and consistency as of late. I love Tommy a lot and think he brings a lot of excitement to the team... But he's on a hell of an average which sometimes (Last night at Eastbourne proves this) is not worth it. Maybe Tommy you need to step it up a bit, as you still seem to be making it hard for yourself around Brough... We can't be carrying a number 5 in this team!! 6. Jacob Bukhave - Watched him a few times in Denmark before and seen him once a Redcar... A boy do we have a quick talent on our hands!! I feel he just needs to concentrate more and maybe over a bit of time and experience in this country, he may step up to be a top quality rider by next season, welcome Jacob, good luck and fast racing over the next couple of months. 7. Danny Phillips - Perhaps the less said the better. I know what position his Dad is in and what the sponsors of the team have said. But surely they are seeing now that having Danny in the team is doing more harm than good, for both the team and Danny himself. He seems to be slower than he was 2 years ago, the year when he had his horrific crash. I'm very sorry Danny, I just wish we had a National League team for you to race for. Easiest choice for me. At the end of this month the average will go from 38.00 to 40.00. With the current averages we will have 1.52 to play with. This is my proposal. (Tommy out for Kus and Danny out for either Kasper Andersen, Emil Grondal, Mark Riss) 1. Steve Worrall 7.59 2. Kasper Andersen/Emil Grondal/Mark Riss (All fit) 3. Lasse Bjerre 6.79 4. Matthew Wethers 6.39 5. Matej Kus 5.63 6. Max Clegg 4.47 7. Jacob Bukhave 4.00 Yes, I understand Matej Kus on paper is a slight downgrade on Tommy, and Tommy is a hell of a lot more entertaining sometimes, But he has struggled recently. I feel that Matej could come in and do a similar if not better job than Tommy at number 5, so not much of a downgrade for me. This biggest positives is the significant upgrade we'd get from Danny, all three of these options, in my opinion would springboard us up right into playoff contention... Not to mention than Max and Jacob can spend all of July at reserve!! As the only rider he'd pass average wise would be Kasper, the other two would keep him at number 6. It would mean that Max can go out and take all the pressure of reserve duties while Jacob gets himself settled in. This, or something similar needs to be acted on quick!! Before people like Matty's, Steve's and Lasse's average jumps dramatically!! (Please remember that Matej is a Diamond's asset, so it makes sense) P.S. I know I'm just an annoying forum user living on 'love island' or whatever it is... But I am a concerned supporter of my beloved Diamonds and I want to see them succeed!! The team we have this year has so much potential, but I'm afraid the few riders we are currently carrying are going to ruin it all. Thanks for reading
  12. Would rather swallow my tongue... Would be less painful
  13. Too good for Newcastle lol... I assume Glasgow would want him now... I know he doesn't ride in Poland... And he's done very good in Sweden this year... Last average 7.something for Somerset 2014 I think
  14. Pontus aspgren... Sign him up... We need something...
  15. Might be worth offering that little bit more tahn is expected, I feel if we had a strong number 7 like Danny Spiller it would really put the Diamonds as one of the strongest teams in the league... To be able to make the play-offs and win the Knock Out Cup would be a very successful season... But he hasn't ridden every season since, he's only been back around for a couple years and he seems to be doing pretty decently in the NL... And has that experience which is important... Certainly was looking to impress on Sunday with his performance... Plus if he looks impressive compared to one of your current riders... Isn't it then a no brainer to sign him up instead?
  16. I know this might not be the best place to ask this, maybe an Eastbourne forum or something? lol... But what average would Daniel Spiller come in on? Is he English or German now? 2.00 or 4.00? Think he'd be good round Brough since he rode so well at Eastbourne... Also does he already race on weekends? I dunno...
  17. Chances are he'd make a bit more money in the CL... Also it's not like fixtures are every week, maybe something can be arranged? Either way, he looked impressive considering he was only a 2.00 rider
  18. “The Diamonds wanted this so badly and fought hard to get a really well deserved win, and our guest David Wallinger should have had more points to his name as he rode so well. Max Clegg has come into his own now and proved why we wanted to sign him when others didn't.”Diamonds boss George English feels things are coming together for his side after an impressive KO Cup aggregate victory over Berwick last weekend. Sign him up then!!
  19. How is anyone complaining about the track? It was great tonight, no lifts, no one out of shape, great hard racing, some of the best I've seen for a long time there... If you lose... IT'S NOT ALWAYS THE TRACKS FAULT Also thanks to all who cleared up the Guest situation, didn't know the rules changed
  20. Why is Berwick allowed a guest for Doolan? I thought it was R/R unless it was number 1 or reserve then a guest is allowed (For injuries anyway)
  21. Doesn't matter... Just seen that he is a 'british passport holder'
  22. Connor Coles... COME BACK TO NEWCASTLE Also, really glad to see a new face to British speedway, I like to think I follow all the young up and coming riders from Australia, Russia, Sweden, USA etc... But never even heard this name before... Looks an exciting prospect!! However... Not to be awkward... But don't Aussies come in on a 4.00 average? Please correct me and tell me how Glasgow are to construct their team to under the 38.00 limit? Thank you 1. Craig Cook 10.51 2. James Sarjeant 4.54 3. Claus Vissing 6.79 4. Rasmus Jensen 6.76 5. Paul Starke 6.20 6. Kyle Bickley 2.00 7. Connor Bailey 4.00 Total: 40.80??? Even if he came in on a 2.00 average for some reason it'd be above the 38.00 limit... Are the other 6 really dropping that far for next months averages? Maybe Sarjeant out and Coles in then? And the rest dropping their averages let the team drop below 38?
