  1. As a neutral and an SCB registered track official I accept that the referee made his decision for his own reasons. He had to make a decision and stick by it. What I do not accept is fans applauding a riders mistake, perhaps some jovial reaction to an innocuous looking slide off at low speed if the rider is clearly ok. However. even those can hurt. But when a rider high sides trying to race and entertain us, like Garrity did, no wonder tempers flare when those close to riders react when their lad could have sustained a serious injury. Some there today, unfortunately have witnessed the ultimate injury, so those 'fans' who thought it funny think about it. The final losers of the day were the handful of juniors, caught up innocently in all of the tension that spilled over at the end, who lost the opportunity to have a ride after all it will have cost them/parents to have prepared for that expected ride. Those responsible for their disgraceful behaviour are not doing British speedway any good. I hope Nigel Pearson has a word in the right ears.
  2. His first bend riding was that of a GP rider tonight. Belief, control (sorry Branflake)and tenacity. He was excluded because he was riding beyond NL normal standard and his skills were intimidating the other riders around him. Jason now has to progress gradually now in each tier of the sport which is like most riders do, the exceptions being, Briggo, Lee, Collins, Morton,Thorpy,Carter The Morans and now Sayfudinov. Only problem was they all just couldn't wait that long. Lets hope Jason can join that illustrious band of riders.
  3. I have read Edwardians post and I appreciate he was on the end of a costly repair and I hope he recovered pretty quickly financially. It is unfortunately part of racing. What we have here is a special talent. Remember watching the late great Kenny Carter once at Barrow, Jason has the same gusto about his riding how he is in the pits after a race. As posted before there are loads of good riders out there but every now and again someone comes along, catches the eye virtually every time they get on a bike. All of a sudden that becomes something you do not want to miss and it ends up as clicks through the turnstile.............Last night he put in a great performance, even the most Brummie of Heathens supporters must have enjoyed witnessing twice in a month someone who could go places cutting their teeth on their track.................and yes don't forget he's a Manchester lad!!!!
  4. I agree with most of the posts and to me the future of English talent is looking good. One rider who does stand out to me whilst statistics do not necessarily support what I say is young Jason Garrity. Anyone who saw the way he attacked the Scunthorpe track last bank holiday Monday saw a real gem of a rider and trier. He impressed all with his style, balance and his belief that he can pass anyone. Whilst his average has been diluted by the falls he has had this season, quite often whilst well placed we could see some excellent and exciting riding next year and a vastly improved rider. I also remember the days when Peter Collins in his first year was a regular faller until he got it right.
  5. Live about 12 miles from the track, have had rain all night. Very light drizzle as I write but the forecast this afternoon looks promising to get the meeting on with some light drizzle expected about 4:00 pm. I am sure there will be a track inspection this morning in time for the visiting fans, if Jayne gives it the thumbs up then the outlook is rosy. Looking forward to this one. Ever the eternal optomist
  6. First visit to Monmore Green to see racing at this level. I was not disappointed and the standard was a real advert for NL league knockers. Twice in the past few weeks (Scunny) away Buxton stole the show and put on an entertaining meeting. It is what NL is all about giving the opportunity for young riders to cut their teeth or pursue their love of the sport if they are now looking at dentures. As a visiting fan I was impressed with Dyer, never heard of him before but a real trier and demonstrated in heat 1 good speed. The Hitmen did the travelling supporters proud, I note the slight criticism of Garrity but after that shocking workshop accident last year where he nearly lost two fingers and a season, I guess the the former under 15 National champion is trying to make up for lost time so his exhuberance is possibly a consequence of this. He is a trier, entertainer and his balance on occasions reminds me of Mort and the Morans. We need riders like him to boost UK speedway. The lad from Manchester is doing ok! Once again a very entertaining meeting apart form the terrace fracas at the end.
  7. I know Cookie won heat 15 but couldn't understand why Allott didn't get the nod as he was a higher scorer and Cookie did not seem himself
  8. Sorry posted this thread before realising Scotty never went down the qualifying road..der!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. How come Scotty is not in the field as it would have been a good track to have a last hance of next years GP. I personally will be gutted that he will be missing next year, with all due respect to CH I do not think overall he is as good. However we do need a couple of Brits to cheer and my replacement on that basis would have to be Tai
  10. Charlie did a great job ad libbing during the rain off 'timeout' in in Poland yesterday no doubt with a producer yelling instructions in her ear piece. For what it is worth one of my daughter's best friends presents on SKY SPORTS and I can tell you now she is almost boring in her quest to learn everything there is to know in what she comments on and all sports in general as she never knows where her next job is coming from. It takes time and I am sure she will get better. I think she is already super and pleasant on the eye too. I got back into speedway again after say nearly a 20 year break, to come back wondering who Gollob, Adams.Nicholls and Pederen were. It seems ridiculous some five years on now they are household names.Chances are Charlie didn't know who these people were six months ago so it will take her time just like it has for Suzi Perry with road racing
  11. Well said.............perhaps with hindsight a break from this competition may do Scotty good. I hope he sits back reflects on just how good he is, definately top 5 if not top Brit for years to come, re groups and does his talking on the track .As I sit here watching the play offs I do not think Lyon has done anything to help Scotty's cause and he is entitled to his game plan. If he has upset Scotty in anyway that is his perogative as a manager. Lets just hope we can all put this Scotty thing to bed and I sincerely hope that as an Aces supporter with no allegiance to Scotty at all other than recognising that a good rider does not generally become bad overnight does his best interviews over all of this on the track.
  12. Lyon got it wrong here. I think if we really wanted a chance of qualifying for the final then Scotty should have been included and probably Lewis/Tai the casualty...poss Lewis as Tai does ride well in Poland better than the UK. To be honest no-one can deny Danny his hurrah based on his Peterborough heroics but I think he will struggle tonight. I hope that I am proven wrong as I am passionate as anyone about GB doing well. At the end of the day the saying 'horses for courses' came about long before speedway bikes were invented. If you look at Speedway Star for Polish/Swedish results Scotty is clearly getting back towards his best. People have short memories of those confidence winning GP rides in the last two meetings and his league form is definately on the up. He is still not a finished rider and whatever anyone says I would almost like to take a wager that he is British Champion again next year. The bloke has taken a kicking for a tactical decision to give it his best shot in the GP's this year, got off to a dreadful confidence sapping start, ate humble pie and came back again more so than what Lyon has done by ignoring all of the aforementioned pointers of his form returning.
  13. All the British lads rode their hearts out last night and I for one a huge fan of under 15 at National league racing for one want all our young Brits to succeed.......but you should always put your best side out especially now we do have a chance of succeeding. So bring on Nico,Scotty,Bomber,Danny?????????? and Tai???????????
  14. I think that Rob Lyon does have his own vision, but hope he is not arrogant enough to never backtrack. I believe we have a disaster of a team to watch this World Cup. Bring on youth I am all for that but this should be done with good experienced riders as well. To think Scotty and Rico are has beens is foolish. Rico is in great form this year after a couple of years with niggling injuries and Scotty seems to be turning a corner. I can see us in great danger of hardly getting a race winner. To drop both Scotty and Rico was poor judgement...................England still pick the 'has been' Beckham don't they?
  15. I think the kids will be all at sea but hope they can battle with the top guns. To be honest there is only Tai I think will eventually cut it at top level. As for Scotty he is one meeting away from turning things round. He and Bomber would have led a good charge, you have to admit Rico is having his best season since coming out of the GP's and then blood in the others depending on how far we got. Disillusion them now and it could do them more harm than good.
  16. Exactly...........nicely put.....disillusionment for our youngsters is the last thing we want. And don't forget the other unsung heroes...........the parents...those dad's that do all those miles and the mums and sisters and other siblings also gathered in support. As has been said they should never be denied the chance to ride Cardiff on such an occasion
  17. It makes it worse knowing he missed practice as well. Hope the youngster that was hurt makes a speedy recovery as I believe he picked up a few injuries from his high siding. I agree also that the pre meeting entertainment was poor, I like the idea of a group to build up the atmosphere but thought last years stunt moto x lads fitted the bill. I was quite bored with the heliosperes so was my wife and daughter.
  18. I particularly wanted to se the sports future talent and was appaulled that the referee who I assume was the meeting ref excluded a ten year old lad who was effectively in a demonstration race. How Reece felt after the travel, build up to the whole meeting I just don't know. Surely at the very least he could have been given a ride off 15 metres. Whoever excluded the lad for a tape infringement that hardly any one saw shouldn't ever be allowed to ref a tiddly winks competition in future. Does anyone know who the ref was?
  19. How do you quantify bad?? So who else over the past four years would you have said would have done better? To me getting top 8/9 finishes consistently over the past few years and being the genuine 'top Brit around' makes the other British contenders what??
  20. Whatever set up Scotty had by the end of the night showed he can still mix it with the best. The writing was on the wall after he got his first point in the meeting on saturday, he looked sharper, more on the pace, clearly with a racing head on rather than processional head on and his last heat win manouveres were divine. I too would love to see Tai in the GP's and actually whilst taking nothing away from Messrs Richardson Bridger & Kennett, still think in Scotty we have a real good racer with a few years of entertainment left in him. To all of you slaggers off of Scotty out there, as I have said before on this forum, a guy does not normally become a bad rider overnight particularly when injuries are not the issue. I wish half the forum displayed as much positiveness as Nigel Pearson does for all of our British riders. Bet half of you lot couldn't ride a rev n go 50cc let alone throw one of these things around sideways. All I can say is that I still hope the air horns sound for him at Cardiff. It is his type of track and occasion, just right to get his racing back up to Scotty standard. Now all of those knockers out there should now log off out of the forum and get back to your playstations and X boxes, bet you're brilliant on them as well!!!!
  21. I have just been over to Scunny for a LJGTRC meeting over the past two days.Spoke to Kyle Howarth who was there supporting his dad who was in the 500 class. He is so keen and willing to learn but remaining level headed. It's such a tonic to see there is British local youth being supported, by an up and coming club like Scunthorpe allowing them to prepare early for the forthcoming season. I recall Kyle's first ride on a speedway bike back in July at Buxton. Cannot believe he is the same rider, he has taken to it like a duck to water. His dad is right behind him, has committed already to top class machinery so it should be great to watch his progress next year. Scunthorpe have softly, softly built up a super reputation. They put on practice sessions virtually every week, welcome all ability riders, allow quality amateur meetings as well as the well documented Conference and Premier league campaigns. The weather seems kind in the area and riders can plan their pratice sessions virtually knowing Scunny will be on. What with the little practice track Scunny gets my vote for the centre of excellence. No other track is doing more for the sport.BSPA please take note.
  22. Over the have really enjoyed the grass roots speedway of the under 15's up to the under 18 British championship We have some real talent around and let's hope the BSPA do all they can to nurture this talent by giving them all the coverage, support and where possible as much help in every way so we can get back at the top of the world speedway tree. Anyway whilst looking atvarious results I just wondered what has happened to George. I think he had an accident maybe the season before last, breaking his thigh. Is he back riding or even contemplating a return?. Saw him at Ivan's Belle Vue training school and his progress on the day was amazing. A little Peter Craven in the making. Anyone know what he is doing.
  23. What a great show they all put on today, really proud to have seen grass roots British Speedway with such talented youngsters. Brought an old speedway pal who is a Belle Vue season ticket holder who has only ever seen EL speedway. He was captivated by the setting, club, organisation and the riding. Lets hope he tels the B Vue regulars what they are missing on their doorstep. He is looking forward to the CL season next year. Jason Garrity was in a class of his own, Kyle Howarth was superb for only having sat on a speedway bike two and a half months ago. Pity red tape kept Jordan out, Main man sentiments noted. One little incident I did not like to see was some unsavoury tactics in one of the 250cc races that proved nothing and was very unsavoury. Lets hope that sort of riding earns an exclusion in future rather than let someone get away with it' because of their age'. Great afternoon. Thanks to all the sponsors, all those that made it worthwhile for the kids to take their deserved acknowledgement from the fans and lastly Buxton Speedway
