Matt Fords Vision For The Elite League In 2017.
KIRKYLANE replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If you want a large top league , say 16 - 19 , with a KO Cup as in the old days then it can only be done by a dilution of the standard of teams compared with the Elite league now . There is not the number of available riders to have squads in an enlarged league. The British League as formed in 1965 from a small top league ( the National league ) and a larger second tier ( Provincial League ) was the beginnings of a resurgence in the number of Speedway tracks over the next few years.. However that probably would not fit in with Poole's thoughts -
Good result for Belle Vue Colts.. well done

Belle Vue Colts V Stoke Potters 24 June 16
KIRKYLANE replied to ouch's topic in National League Speedway
Best Colts match so far re entertainment. As usual the forecasters got it all wrong again.... initially showing rain through most of the day and evening only to change their minds in the afternoon and show no rain after 4 pm... typical !!!!!!! -
Sheffield Vs Redcar Pl 23/06/2016

A match to miss as far as I am concerned. I regularly go to Sheffield but Redcar away from home is a no go for me -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
KIRKYLANE replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
What a pointless toipic !! Tai wants to ride in the World Cup ... I am sure Rossiter will want him to ride, The vast majority of British Speedway supporters will want him to ride. The British Final and the World Cup are separate entities... -
Bell Vue V Wolves Friday 17th June
KIRKYLANE replied to rainman's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I will settle for 3 league points and good racing !!!!! -
If all British tracks had their own stadia then yes , we could have one night like Sweden and Poland. The reality is most Speedway clubs exist in someone else's stadium and we have the night that suits the owners. Belle Vue Speedway never wanted Monday nights at the Greyhound stadium ... the owners decided they were having greyhounds on Thursday , Friday and Saturday. Similar situations elsewhere in Britain Yes I would love to go back to 16-19 teams in one league and maybe that day is approaching .. but I doubt it will happen in 2017

West stand gives great views from the first bend. Great viewing from all areas in fact. 70 per cent sales for Friday is much better than race offs in the past.... Main reason is the friday/Saturday instead of thursday/Saturday. Pricing is all down to those running the world cup. They have rented the stadium for the world cup from belle Vue.

Hello Alan, Our promoter David Gordon has told me that 70 % of the people buying tickets for the World Cup on Saturday have bought tickets for the Friday night. Therefore 30 % have not.... so I am sure that tickets will be on sale on the day. or possibly before that, Not many people will want to do the Friday and not the Saturday I am sure that Sheffield have a meeting on the Thursday ,...... v Glasgow so an attractive match

You will be pleased to know he has just signed a new 3 year contract with Momster !!!!!

For those that did not watch the British Final Forum last Wednesday; The following was announced re ticket sales : Option 1 ; go online and print off your own ticket re entry to the stadium .......... at a cost of £1 per ticket as well pointed out on this forum Option 2 ; phone the Belle Vue stadium and purchase your ticket directly from Belle Vue ( it is my understanding that there is no charge for option 2 but I stand corrected if necessary ) The tickets are printed off and you collect them from the collection table ( not from the main ticket office ) Option 3 ; purchase tickets when you arrive at the stadium and hope the queue is not too long Tickets for the main grandstand and the West stand are available from the main ticket office. Tickets for the South stand ( the back straight ) are available from a ticket office which is situated near the entrance to the South Stand in the South Stand Car Park. Collection table for the Grandstand and the West stand is near the main grand stand ticket office. Collection table for the South stand is near the South Stand ticket office. Tickets on sale tomorrow ( Sunday ) by phone between 10am-3 pm or on Monday re the British Final. Hope this helps !!

British Final Belle Vue June 13th.

It is Monday because sky want Monday. I feel sure that Belle Vue would have prefered Friday or Saturday. -
Belle Vue V Coventry 30th May, 2016
KIRKYLANE replied to Aces51's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A ticket office has now been set up at the SOUTH Stand entrance so this will reduce queueing at the grandstand ticket office ( tickets for grandstand and the West stand only ). -
Belle Vue V Coventry 30th May, 2016
KIRKYLANE replied to Aces51's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Everyone wanting to sit in the Grandstand should be able to choose where they want to sit irrespective of the size of the queue. Those arriving early all picked their seats. As for moving seats that would have been rather difficult as I estimate it was 95 % full and finding 4 or more seats together would probably have been impossible. These problems with large queueing for tickets will be sorted out.. I reckon there was at least 3000 people there and it was great to see lots of children since it was the bank Holiday. The entertainment value of the racing was excellent and the thoughts of a World Class line up racing on our new track in the World Cup is absolutely mouth watering. -

Although we have had many Good Friday meetings this is the first Bank Holiday Monday that I have seen a meeting at Belle Vue. There may have been something pre 1960's -
Should Tai Woffinden Ride For Team Gb ?
KIRKYLANE replied to robert72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Not riding in the British Final had more to do with the semis being Friday and Sunday of a Grand Prix weekend. The BSPA could have seeded him through if they had wanted . The World Cup is about the best team available and that includes Tai in the team. I was disappointed that he left the Elite league but his logic was fine... he needed less meetings in the year Good luck to him in the SGP and hopefuuly the World Cup. Personally I would have seeded him through to the British Final so as not to deprive Britain of seeing him in his home country ans secondly it would have boosted attendance at the British Final. -
Brummies V Bellevue Wed 18thmay
KIRKYLANE replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Hope Tom Perry is not out too long. -
For those of you that have not noticed , the double white line introduced this year has drastically improved the starts so far this year. Yes we still get some races pulled back ... but on much fewer occasions As for digging at the tapes it is still allowed as long as you are on your bike !!!!!!i

For a long time now Britain has been a training ground for young European riders at the expense of young British riders. As a consequence we have fallen behind internationally as you intimate. When I started watching any foreigners new to the league were world class riders.... Heat leaders in the top league.... Until we have a comprehensive system to develop our own riders we will not rise back to former glories. Some steps have been made but we still have a long way to go.
-
Peterborough v Sheffield ; There were 12 races with passing after the first half lap and a total of 38 passes in all ( again after half a lap ) Racing does not get much better than that for a league match, Sheffield v Scunthorpe ... one would expect good entertaining racing at this fixture.... however only 3 races with passing after half a lap and only a total of 5 paases after haf a lap. I will say that this is out of character for a Sheffield match which rarely produces a poor match... but in this case it certainly was !! Pick the right teams at the right track and weather permitting you will get a good meeting. I have watched for over 50 years and we still get a mixture of the good ,the bad and the ugly regards meetings and entertainment Sadly crowds have deteriorated in recent years but that does not mean they cannot go back up.

Belle Vue Colts-v- Eastbourne Eagles 13/5/16
KIRKYLANE replied to Phil The Ace's topic in National League Speedway
It is thanks to Edinburgh that Bewley rode in the first meeting as this was a rearranged meeting and therefore Edinburgh had preference. Seeing Bewley in the first meeting will have helped future attendances at our new home and today's reciprocal agreement makes great common sense. Belle Vue will have preference over Edinburgh in future as he is our asset.... unless we have to rearrange a meeting and then hopefully m the management will do their best not to have a clash.
