  1. Yes but do you not think that the pots that are empty (for example local support for the elderly) should have money moved to them from ones which seem to be wasting money for the sake of it (such as buying old stadiums which need lots of further money spent on them to bring to a respectable standard). Why am I not surprised you are a councillor, it all makes sense now. Love to commission reviews, spend days on end drinking cups of coffee while you sit in public meetings discussing them and then deciding to postpone a decision until you receive some more reports. And in the meantime no idea how your budgets were over spent. No wonder you think this would be a good use of Tax payers money to buy Coventry Stadium. Sorry but this should be private enterprise only, absolutely no value in it to the tax payer! Ps you will recall I was part of the bidding process for the King's Lynn Town Football Club and so I am quite aware of councils work in these situations. I now know why they say people are career councillors, because it takes them their whole career to make one decision.
  2. Like I say why we would we expect any news on Coventry from any official source when everyone is simply staying tight lipped and towing the line. Best face facts, apart from at a handful of clubs, fans are just a hindrance who pay for the privilege of watching their promoter play with their toy set. ps shocked Mr Rising hasn't been in touch to see if I can assist him with a long list of new stories he is investigating for future editions of Speedway Star (insert flying pig emoji)
  3. Public money is public money. For example when I recently heard that £5.2m of public money was being spent on the 'Ethiopean Spice Girls' I was outraged and wanted answers as to why it wasn't being spent on the NHS. Not for one minute did I think 'thats's ok that money has been ringfenced for the Department of International Development'. May I ask how you felt about that one?
  4. Agreed he has never been replaced and is sorely missed. How can he make anything but a good job of this.... he has the perfect face for Radio
  5. Well they don't call her Mother Theresa for nothing God help her if she believes her own tax contributions would be better spent on a speedway stadium than on schools or health care.
  6. Must admit it seems a perfect storm of problems with 3 clubs out of 9 at a risk of not running at some point during this winter...... thank god they managed to entice Somerset and Rye House into the Premiership or it would have died in November. Whilst you must admit that it would be hard to link all these issues together I think the farce has been the lack of PR on all fronts in keeping the fans informed, this in turn will make them feel less loved and potentially effect their emotional connection, the one which makes them attend every week no matter the teams form and weather. If this is the end result then less people will attend meetings and the inevitable will happen again next season with 'will they or wont they run'. This sport is most definitely on life support if continues running its house in this way!
  7. Good idea but if this happens I would not pin any hopes on even half the stadium being operational during race nights, including the main grandstand.
  8. I could certainly give them some great insight from my days as a promoter. You know I could never get my head round ReadyPower becoming main team sponsor for Poole Pirates following the winter of discontent. And can you imagine if the Star ever decided to look into the administration of our sport and gain an insight into it's annual accounts. And wouldn't it be great to hear what various people within the ACU think about how speedway is run and what advice they would give for moving forward. And what about analysing crashes between riders and giving their opinions on who was in the right and wrong and essentially judging weather the ref made the right call.... They called even create a referee league table based on the amount of correct decisions made over a season. Any other ideas?
  9. Considering it is a lot different to actually doing it.... when you bear in mind the financial dire straits most councils are in, do you believe under closer scrutiny they would see it as tax payers money being well spent? Just want to add that the financial fiasco up in Manchester will not help in the future when other councils CONSIDER things like this.
  10. Yep one week only, now imagine how strong sales could be week in and week out if they used their journalistic skills to dig the dirt on what is really going on behind the scenes in Speedway, and didn't worry about towing the line or upsetting the establishment!
  11. Pie in the sky, would never get backing from the local council or the tax payer!
  12. Not surprised that the whole situation is unclear. PR is not a strength of the BSPA, the person running it or anyone connected with it. Let's hope it all becomes clearer in the near future, but at the moment I feel it is a missed opportunity to get Leicester fans 100% behind it and start to create a massive buzz around the city before the tapes go up again in March.
  13. The night of talks was with a councillor and not Brandon Estates. At the end of the day they own the property and will have the final say. Who would blame them if they told Sandhu that his offer is not welcome and want the job done properly via their insurance company... And I would imagine that is why the police have allegedly been contacted as they will want a crime reference number.
  14. Maybe that was agreed prior to the events which caused the bad blood.... or maybe sponsoring the Bees was something that helped show Brandon Estates in good light to the local council?
  15. I have heard from a credible source that Brandon Estates is owned by legitimate investors who have no connection with Sandhu. There was actually bad blood between the two parties prior to the latest series of events, and it would not surprise me if we saw the stadium only open for speedway in March and Stock cars unable to be accommodated.
  16. I would have also hoped that, however I have learnt this is not the case especially when it comes to my poor grandfather who was unfairly banned from attending the speedway (a club which his own father started) when some sponsorship income looked to be at risk. Obviously WATER was thicker than blood on that occasion but not for me!
  17. Agreed Danny, Brandon Estates are simply following the correct procedures. Can you imagine they gave the keys to Sandhu and said 'here you go Mr Sandhu, we trust you to put everything back to a fit and proper stat, even after you took a total disregard to the way you removed what you claim to be your property. Oh and by the way make sure you get safety certificates and test all the electrics so we are not liable for any accidents to the public'. I do not believe any sensible person here believes it can be as easy as that, too many risks
  18. Certainly would and hopefully if the situation arises they will 👍
  19. Some great teams this year, think the league is wide open and will have some unpredictable results!
  20. Subject to Batchelor get back to his best, I think this is a cracking team with the potential to lift the league trophy! I predict Poole, Rye House and Wolves to join Stars in Play Offs.
  21. I have read all various official comments and reports and just viewed the photos taken by Coventry Times. In my personal opinion the stadium could be made useable for speedway racing only with a minimal amount of money (approx £50k), which would involve temporary floodlights and the all indoor facilities remaining closed. However the stadium won't be pretty and can imagine the atmosphere would be affected so the promters would have to expect a knock on effect with the crowds. If they want to run stock cars also then the expense for the Armco to be restored would be prohibitive, and besides I see no reason why Sandhu would be bothered as he can easily run his events at other stadiums, including king's Lynn, Buxton and skegness. With regards to Brandon estates they seem to be sensible business people who are following the proper procedures so I don't think any blame can be put on them. Interesting times ahead but feel one way or another speedway will run there for at least one more year.
  22. Kings Lynn Speedway ltd was registered early 2016 and would therefore think it traded under that for the whole of last season. So if that has now been changed to Leicester speedway limited I wonder what company kings Lynn Speedway is going to run under next season and if Buster will be a shareholder? PS at least this explains why kings Lynn fans had a refund for the away rain off at Leicester from kings Lynn Speedway ltd
  23. Being part of the original team in helping the fantastic set of fans and Mr Hensley in gaining planning permission for Beaumont Park, I truly hope a good promoter can be found to take the club forward. I think it needs some one willing to focus their full attention on it and get the publicity and sponsorship it requires. So much potential and a really great set of fans. Good luck!
  24. I would not be surprised, I did call that move potentially happening back in July
